I’m staring to wonder...
After playing/watching Until Dawn, Man of Medan, and Little Hope, I’ve kind of got this theory going. I don’t know how well it’s going to hold up since depending on how you look at it we’re only 2-3 games into this whole mess, but so far I like how it looks.
My theory, my guess, my thought, my idea….whatever you want to call it - I think all of the antagonists in the Dark Pictures Anthology will be human, not supernatural. More specifically, each game is about humans dealing with extreme emotions and the consequences of their reactions and decisions.
Hear me out!

With the recently released gameplay reveal for House of Ashes, I’ve been thinking about my little theory again. Frankly, I don’t know what it would be if the game follows my people-are-the-real-monsters theory, but I still desperately want to be right.
That being said, I’ve been looking into Sumerian (and other area appropriate) mythology in my spare time, and I stumbled across this thing called a Rabisu. I haven’t been able to find out as much information as I would like, but from what I have gathered they are demon or vampire-like creatures that lurk in entrances and dark places waiting to ambush their prey. We didn’t see a lot of the monster in the trailer, but from what they did show us I could see the monster being (inspired by) this.
It's been a while. I at least feel pretty happy that I guessed that vampire part right - except also not because they're aliens? Shame this kind of puts my theory dead in the water though. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. The next game though. The next game definitely looks like a human threat.
