LIAM GALEN REMIGIO is a brave 2 year old boy who was born with gastroschisis(he was born with his organs outside his body). His gastroschisis was repaired right after his birth. He was released from the ICU after almost a month's stay and observed for another 2 weeks and was finally discharged from the hospital at age 1 month and 3 weeks. Afterwards, he was on constant follow up with doctors (neonatologist and pediatric surgeon and pediatric neurologist). Liam had speech and motor delays --doctors noted he would not walk for a while, and was referred to a developmental pediatrician who advised rehab. After less than 8 months of therapy, Liam was able to walk on his own at 1 Year and 11 months! Social development and speech were just a little delayed for his age, but he was able to catch up at around the time he began walking.

On April 12, 2013 (at 25 mos), Liam was noted to have abdominal distension related to his gastroschisis. Corrective surgery was supposed to start, but after a week at the hospital, doctors realized that Liam had more medical issues. Liam was diagnosed with Budd Chiari Syndrome which is a disorder that affected his hepatic veins, liver, heart, and arteries. An angiogram and BMA (bone marrow aspiration) followed. After further testing... Liam was diagnosed with hepatic cancer following a discovery of a mass in his liver. All further surgeries are now put on hold so that Liam can start chemotherapy and hopefully gain strength! Liam's prognosis is guarded but we continue to hope and to pray that he will survive this latest trial on his young life. We ask for prayers for his miraculous cure, as his doctors struggle to keep him fighting. After all, Liam is a brave warrior and has already won a lot of battles! He is a happy kid, loves to play tennis like his dad Gabby Remigio, an affectionate boy to mom Meg Remigio, and an all-around great wonder boy!
