You heard Steve’s car pull in the driveway and excitement fuelled through your veins. It wasn’t often that you would go to this extent to plan a romantic evening — dim lights, candles and cute lingerie —, but your last date night went back to over two months ago. He may be looking hot in his baseball coach outfit, but the weekend games were ruining your sex life.
Tonight, Steve was coming home early. There was a thunderstorm forecast at the end of the day and the school they were playing against agreed to have the game early instead of rescheduling.
You waited in the kitchen, standing in your babydoll nightgown right next to the set table. His brain will short circuit when he sees you.
The front door opened and closed, followed by the familiar thud of Steve’s keys landing in the bowl by the entryway. You heard him kick off his shoes, humming under his breath, blissfully unaware of what was waiting for him.
‘’Honey, I’m home,” he started, rounding the corner into the kitchen. ’’We lost — again. But Kevin ran the right side of the field this time, so that’s an improvem—’’
He stopped dead.
For a solid three seconds, Steve Harrington forgot how to breathe.
His eyes swept over you slowly, like his brain needed time to catch up: the soft fabric of your babydoll nightgown, the candlelight casting warm shadows over your skin, the carefully set table that screamed effort. His mouth opened, then closed again.
‘’The cat got your tongue, Harrington?’’ you teased, your lips curling in amusement.
He dropped his duffel bag right where he stood, eyes still glued to you — you were a sight —, and closed the distance between you, crashing his mouth on yours. His hand cupped your jaw gently as he slipped his tongue in, deepening the kiss and pulling you against him.
“You trying to kill me tonight? ‘Cause this is absolutely unfair,” he said, stepping back a few inches to look at you again.
You held his gaze, your fingers grabbing the ribbon of your babydoll and pulling it, revealing a lace set of lingerie underneath.
Steve ran a hand through his hair, feeling his pants tighten. ‘’Fuck, you’re so beautiful.’’ He kissed you again, his body flush against yours and his hands finding their familiar place on your thighs before picking you up.
Dinner could wait.
He set you up on the counter behind you, the surface cool under your skin making you gasp softly into the kiss. You locked your legs around his waist and ran your fingers through Steve’s hair, pulling as pressed the tent of his jeans against your covered cunt as thunder cracked outside, loud enough to rattle the windows.
You jumped at the sound, but Steve trailed his lips down your jaw and neck, calming you down.
‘’You smell good,’’ he hummed, kissing your neck.
In your small perfume collection, there was one secretly labeled Steve’s favorite. He never told you it was his favorite. However, you did notice he was more touchy and needy whenever you wore it. You never complained though.
You said his name under a soft breath, feeling him descend down your collarbones and chest, his strong hands cupping your breasts through your thin bra. He was so hungry for you.
And so were you.
You pulled his blue coach jacket off and untucked his polo shirt from his pants, then snuck your hands under the hem, feeling the warmth of his body.
It was crazy to think you and Steve had been dating since high school. After Nancy ended things with him, he fell into your arms and never got back up. People had doubted you would make it far together. They called you his rebound. The girl he used to get over Nancy. They couldn’t be more wrong. The shiny engagement ring on your finger proved that.
Getting frustrated with Steve’s shirt, you pulled it off and threw it on the floor. He was wearing too much clothes.
You dug your nails into his back as he took one of your nipples into his mouth. ‘’Steve,’’ you gasped.
He smirked, knowing what he was doing, and reached behind you to unclasp your bra, his fingers making quick work of the clasp. Although you looked jaw-dropping gorgeous in your little set, Steve needed your bra off. The garters and panties could stay on. He could work around them.
Another crack of thunder echoed, causing the dim lights to flicker before going out.
You laughed. ‘’It’s a good thing I lit candles before power went out, didn’t I?’’
Steve hummed. ‘’My fiancé has superpowers. She can see the future,’’ he joked, then kissed you, getting back to where he left off.
Steve and Dustin's sister getting secretly engaged
Dustin's speech was iconic. Kind of wished Suzie was there though

It’s been a few months since you last stepped foot in Hawkins, but your brother’s graduation was an event you and Steve couldn’t miss. That little shit was graduating high school. Time really flew by. You could still recall the time he used a walkie talkie to talk to his friends instead of a phone. Being woken up by Dustin yelling ‘code red’ to Lucas was a sound you didn’t miss.
As you were driving to the school, you noticed how the town changed. New buildings were in construction, and houses too. Kids were running in the park, your favorite pizza place’s sign was lit and the movie theater seemed to have re-opened. Hawkins was finally getting back to how it was before that whole demogorgons and Upside Down craziness.
Your mom had saved you a seat — and an additional one for Steve.
She was so proud as Dustin stood on the stage, his familiar orange cap and gown looking almost surreal under the bright lights. After everything he’d endured over the past few years — the bullying, the hard losses, the constant chaos that seemed to follow him wherever he went —, seeing him there felt like a victory in itself. And by being titled valedictorian of his class, he was making you even prouder. It was a big ‘fuck you’ to all who threw rocks at him.
‘’But I am worried. Worried, because now that the chaos is over, Principal Higgins and every square like him is gonna do their damnedest to put everything back in order.’’
You could see Principal Higgins fuming behind him and you couldn’t wait to hear the rest of your brother’s speech. The old man should have known what to expect. Ever since Dustin lost Eddie, he started standing up for himself and being unapologetically himself. Eddie was a role model to him, much like Steve. You could see it in his look — the longer hair and the ring on his finger —, but also in his attitude. And for that you’ll always be thankful that he got to know Eddie Munson.
‘’And I don’t want order,’’ Dustin continued. ‘’Which is pretty hypocritical that I’m wearing this thing. I mean, we look ridiculous. What is this? We look like Roman senators. I mean, it’s not who I am. I don’t think it’s who any of us are. So, honestly, just screw it.’’ He unzipped his gown and pulled his button up open, revealing a tee shirt that said ‘Hellfire lives!’
People cheered and that’s when Principal Higgins stood, having enough. Personally, you couldn’t help but grin and laugh.
‘’Screw the school! Screw the system! Screw conformity—’’ Dustin grabbed the mic as he was being pushed away from the center of the stage.
‘’Yes!’’ your mom cheered. ‘’That’s my baby.’’
‘’Screw everyone and everything trying to hold you back and tear us apart, because this is our year!’’
The whole lot of students stood, cheering and clapping, much to the school staff’s annoyance.
Dustin dropped the mic on the floor and snatched his diploma from Principal Higgins right before flipping him the finger. Some of the parents gasped in horror at the gesture, but you only shook your head.
After everyone got handed their diplomas, the graduates were finally free.
‘’I’m going to talk to Sue,’’ your mom said, leaving you and Steve.
You turned to Steve, who had taken off his sunglasses. ‘’Aw, you got teary eyed?’’ you pointed out, seeing him wipe his eye.
He ignored your question and pulled you close. ‘’I was surprised your mom cheered when Dustin told the school staff off and cussed.’’
‘’Me too. If I did this at my graduation, she would have been so mad—’’
‘’Ahh! You’re here,’’ Robin’s cheery voice cut in, tearing you from Steve and pulling you in a hug. Best friend privilege, she called it.
You hugged her back, having missed her, and squeezed her tighter. ‘’I thought you hadn’t found a replacement at the radio.’’
‘’As if I’d miss this,’’ she said, pulling back just enough to grin. ‘’Dustin Henderson, valedictorian and chaos gremlin? Historic.’’
Steve snorted beside you. ‘’He really went for it. I’m honestly shocked they didn’t cut his mic.’’
You smiled, your gaze drifting across the lawn to where Dustin was being smothered by hugs, his orange cap already crooked on his head. Pride swelled in your chest, warm and heavy. He had earned every cheer, every second of that moment.
‘’Enough about the gremlin. I need to catch you up on everything you missed.’’
Robin began listing every juicy gossip she collected from her radio show — Afternoon hot tea with Robin — where people sent her anonymous messages about personal drama and scandals. According to her, Tammy Thompson was having an affair with Jason Carver, and Tommy Hagan had been fired from his father’s dealership after faking sales and was now assistant coach for the Tigers. What a social downfall.
‘’I think I see Nancy and Jonathan over there,’’ you said between two rushes of word vomit, pointing to your left.
Time seemed to stop as Robin caught the sparkling ring on your finger.
‘’Hold on,’’ she interrupted, grabbing your hand and lifting it in front of her face. ‘’Is that—’’
Your heart skipped. You forgot to take your ring off in the car.
You nodded, your lips curling into a grin — you were engaged to Steve Harrington. You and Steve had planned to announce the big news to your mother tonight at dinner, and tomorrow to your friends. But your forgetfulness and Robin’s eagle eyes had other plans.
‘’Oh my god,’’ she gasped, eyes going wide. ‘’OH. MY. GOD.’’ Robin glanced at Steve, and back to you, still freaking out. ‘’When did it happen? Why didn’t you tell me? Can I be a bridesmaid? I can’t believe this is happening!’’
Robin didn’t even wait for an answer. She bounced on her heels, still clutching your hand like you might vanish if she let go.
A bashful smile formed on Steve’s face, his hand coming on the small of your back. He was so proud to call you his fiancé — his future wife. He pulled you in for a kiss as Robin continued freaking out. If this was your best friend’s reaction, your mother was definitely going to be worse…in a happy way.
Always having the worst timing, it was at that moment that Dustin chose to show up. And he had heard everything.
‘’Seriously?! You’re stealing my spotlight by getting engaged? This is my graduation day, come on!’’ he complained, mildly annoyed.
Steve almost dying. I need his gf's reaction to almost losing him
I think we all feared for Steve's life after seeing that one Duffer brothers interview... Thankfully he's okay!

You’ve always had a bad feeling about that radio tower. Not only was it over a hundred feet high, but climbing to the tippy top without any kind of security harness felt like running after your own death. One bad move and…gone.
By some miracle, you all made it to the top.
You stayed close to Steve, your eyes fixed anywhere but down. Above you, the sky warped unnaturally — dark and distorted — before bleeding into a violent red the closer it crept.
‘’Chief? We’re gonna need El to stop this planet,’’ Dustin shouted into the walkie-talkie.
His frantic yelling about being crushed by a moving planet made your stomach drop. Instinctively, you reached for Steve’s hand, gripping it tight. If you were going to die, you wanted to be with him. He pulled you close and kissed your temple just as the ‘sky’ hit the needle of the tower, causing it to shake and forcing everyone to grab whatever they could.
‘’Look out! Look out!’’ Steve yelled as the lightning rod snapped free, crashing down and ripping away the right-side railing as it went.
Fortunately, no one got hurt. You all looked at each other, relieved, but the tower shook again and Robin was grabbing your arm as your boyfriend lost his footing and slipped, separating you from him.
‘’Steve!’’ you screamed, the sickening sound of metal scraping ringing in your ears before he fell from the radio tower.
This couldn’t be happening. No. Not him. Not Steve.
Your eyes welled with tears, heart rate picking up as you saw your future crumble before your eyes.
If you had taken a closer look, you would have seen that Steve was holding onto the edge, feet dangling in the air. He was trying to haul himself back up using the adrenaline in his veins, but he was also losing his grip.
Luckily, Jonathan grabbed his wrist just as his hand let go. ‘’I’ve got you,’’ Jonathan grunted, bracing his boots against the tower.
He couldn’t pull him up alone though.
Once Steve’s feet touched the platform you rushed over to him, relief washing over your shoulders. Your arms immediately locking around his neck as your tears spilling down your cheeks. You clung to him tightly, breath shaking.
I understood Dustin at that moment. Losing someone you deeply cared about hurts, but having to go through it again is ten times worse. I lost two best friends to suicide and I could not handle a third time
Everything I've been writing lately is short (I'm sorry). I'm trying to get out of my writing slump...which has been ruining my writer life for the last year

You thought your boyfriend had reached his peak and couldn’t get sexier, but when Steve turned up with a backward cap on, you realized how wrong you were. So fucking wrong. The cap was breaking his all-American style, and suddenly all you could think about was fisting the front of his shirt and dragging him into a long kiss before he even had the chance to say hello.
So that’s exactly what you did.
Steve kissed you back without hesitation, hands finding your waist like it was instinct. He smiled into the kiss — soft at first, then deeper, unhurried — before pulling back just enough to rest his forehead against yours.
‘’What was that for?’’ he asked, breath warm, eyes amused beneath the brim turned backward.
You barely gave him time to finish before leaning in again, fingers still twisted in his shirt, heart racing.
He chuckled in between kisses, his hands finding their place on the small of your back. He pulled you closer, the kiss turning rougher as you pushed him against the wall. He loved when you were desperate like this, when you craved him just as much as he desired you. His body pressed to yours and his hand slipped under your shirt, fingers tracing over your skin.
Someone cleared their throat, forcing you and Steve apart. You shot Nancy an apologetic look while Dustin was looking at the two of you with disgust. He was the number one fan of your relationship and very happy that Steve found a girl who loved him the way he deserved, but he could do without the PDA. Especially when tongues were involved.
You sighed and went back to getting ready to fight Vecna for the last time, adding extra bullets into your pockets. Turns out, a summer spent learning how to handle a shotgun with your dad hadn’t been as useless as you once thought.
‘’You think you can teach me how to use one of these bad boys?’’ Steve asked, turning a small gun over in his hands as he tried to figure out whether it was loaded.
Turning on your heels, you saw him with the gun and instinctively took it before he could fire it accidently. ‘’Have you ever used a gun, Harrington?’’ You raised an eyebrow and waited for the answer you already knew.
Besides, a gun this size won’t do any harm to Vecna.
Steve rolled his eyes at your tone. ‘’No, but how hard can it be? Point and shoot, right? I could handle a gun just fine—’’
‘’No guns for you,’’ you cut in firmly. Then, a hint of a smile tugged at your lips. You secretly glanced at Lucas who was tightening the rope on his handmade weapon, checking if the group was busy. ‘’I have a better idea.’’
He followed you outside, confusion washing over his face when he found himself by the WSQK van. The wind had calmed down, but a chill had taken over Hawkins.
‘’Do you think they’re going to notice if we disappear for…ten minutes?’’
Truth was, you had zero intention of looking for a weapon. You just wanted to drag Steve away from the group and have alone time with him. Ever since you saw him with that backward cap and leather jacket, there was a burning desire in your lower stomach and you really needed to take care of that before heading down to battle.
‘’Ten minutes?’’ Steve echoed, one eyebrow arching as his gaze searched your face.
You stepped closer, letting your hand slide slowly up his thigh before curling around his belt buckle, tugging him just enough to make your point. ‘’I can do it in seven, I think,’’ you murmured.
