You know, ive been thinking about it more, and I really like the comparison Halmarut is drawing between the wol and Zenos (he is your mirror, after all.)

Zenos was so good at combat, so physically strong, he could do whatever he wanted. No individual or political entity could stop him. He could win a war for Garlemald, or kill its emperor unopposed. He had the power to determine the fate of the entire world. To destroy it, or save it, depending on if he felt like it.

The warrior of light is the same. Are you sure your motivations are pure and altruistic? Do you know youre doing the 'right thing?' Or are you just chasing what makes you feel good... doing whatever you want because nobody can stop you... just like he did?

Halmarut knows she cant stop you. If every other Ascian failed, what hope does a sundered one + a dozen randoms from other worlds have. Idk if she really believes she can reason with you. You are supposed to represent the best of mankind, the beings she loves and admires, but you are always outside it. Above it. Something else. Does she see you as one of the humans she loves, or some godlike being who will determine mankinds fate, where all she can do is pray to it to make the right choice. Idk, I find her really interesting.

And I like that even if Zenos isnt here physically, he is still here in what he represents. The wol thinks about him a lot, and the game doesnt dictate what you are thinking about in your own head, which makes me wonder what it is. Are you worried you will become like him? Resentful that even in death you cant escape him? Do you miss him, and long for the friendship or love you could have had, if only he could see reason? Are you doing the same thing to Halmarut? Is the fact that you couldnt save him representative of the fact that you cant save every reflection? That even the two of you, so powerful as to kill gods and change fate, cant escape things like death or being wrong?

They should kill off more characters. It feels like after people were so upset about haurchefant they just decided to pull their punches and its super lame. The sultana should have died, otherwise the bloody banquet means nothing. And honestly its really lame that ending her line feels like a big status quo change and an interesting conflict of What Do We Do Now but instead they were like nvm. Status quo is fine dw :) think about how much harder it would be for raubahn to choose whether to stay in ala mhigo in stormblood?

Graha tia should have died. Or at least the crystal exarch version dies and then we go to the crystal tower and wake up the young one who never time traveled and only kinda knows us for a more bittersweet happy ending. Yshtola should have died one of the many times she pulls her nonsense but they would never in a million years do anything to her. I never felt worried for the scions during endwalker bc i knew they wouldnt kill them so it just kinda feels... empty.

I dont even hate human sphene but i dont think she should be alive. It comes out of nowhere and again seems like a cheap way to solve the problem of "with our queen gone how do we reform the government" with "oh dw shes alive. So we dont have to fix anything. And everyone loves her so the fact that its a monarchy is like, fine. Yay :)" i dont mind the retired arcadion fighters being ok but brute bomber should have died so theres at least a little bit of consequences... otherwise why are we claiming this blood sport is bad when theres no casualties and no psychological damage to the people who perform it? You kinda need to show the consequences through actions, not just people SAYING its bad...

#i say this and yet im like man i wish they didnt kill yotsuyu lol #i like the beginning of dt. but in general i feel like they have kinda defanged the story when it used to be much darker #my other hot take is that i dont like graha or yshtola or thancred or urianger. i wish we could lose the scions and meet new ppl every expac #i enjoyed travelling with wuk lamat and erenville and maybe a twin or two. get yshtola away from me please god
