INTRODUCING: KWON HAYAN, b. 2002/02/17. the sprint skeleton, brought to you by yui (they/them, 21+).
leave a like and i'll get in touch to plot! 👾 is available on request (and preferred, i live in constant fear of the shadowban hammer).
BACKGROUND
born near haenam-eup, haenam county, south jeolla province. his parents have a cabbage farm they really wanted him to take over. his dad has since given in because hayan's achievements bring prestige to the family, his mum refuses to let up because she'd rather have grandchildren in the next ten years.
his actual primary caretaker has been his grandmother for as long as he can remember. she was also his guardian after he moved to seoul to have a better shot at sports.
has yet to earn much in terms of international accolades, but has competed on a national level since he was fifteen and been part of the representative teams for south korea in a handful of junior events.
his two biggest achievements are gold in 2020 for 100m at the south korean athletics championship and silver in 100m at the asian athletic championship in 2023. firmly determined to earn his stripes with olympic gold.
PERSONALITY
if it sounds like he doesn't have much of a childhood timeline outside of sports— well, he doesn't. as sweet and polite as hayan comes across in public settings, he is highly competitive, ambitious and his only chance to have his family acknowledge his passion for athletics was by making it very clear that he'd be willing to sacrifice anything to get his shot at making it.
normal, healthy things to impart on your child, am i right?
you'd be forgiven for mistaking him for shy and meek. he's not, but he's not all that good with strangers. give him time to loosen up and he'll turn out to be warm and fairly easy-going — at least, as far as playtime is concerned.
hates confrontation, has no qualms lying to you if it means it'll keep him out of the crosshair of an uncomfortable interaction. isn't aware of it but has a tendency to get manipulative to ensure he's well liked for very similar reasons.
very well aware of the fact he's pretty, and equally unafraid to make use of it for his (validation) needs. yes, he's insecure about not having the same successful track records as so many of his fellow athletes at jincheon, what about it?
being raised to believe that he has to prove his passion to everyone around him and their mother, hayan works hard. some would argue that his work ethics verge on self-destructive and reckless, but when everyone's vying for a chance to go to the olympics these things quickly become blurry and not all that important anymore.
as you'd expect from someone whose entire childhood has been sports and studies he lacks some exposure to common formative experiences. could probably use a bit of a "bad influence" to fill these gaps.
