The one and only Joshua Tree. Technically it’s a yucca and it’s native to the Mojave Desert. 🌵 🥵

Our journey west across the country was mainly on the Interstate (trucks in the background) which replaced the historic Route 66 (roughly in line with the power poles). Bits of the old road still remain but most of the towns and business on the old route have long gone. This old Studebaker was where Route 66 used to cut through Petrified Forest National Park.

Scotts Bluff served as an important landmark for travellers along the Oregon Trail which stretched from Oregon in the west to Missouri in the east. For us, the journey started here and went over 800km south through Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

End of the trail at Badlands National Park, amazing rock formations as far as the eye can see. Named “Badlands” because of the extreme temperatures, lack of water, and the exposed rugged terrain. Watch out for rattlers… 🐍 👀

A lot of long, straight desolate roads in the Dakotas. Great territory for bison, including this large example. Technically, buffalo are the animal that is found in Africa 🐃 and the ones found in North America are bison 🦬. 🤷🏻♂️

The state of it. Apparently the first warm and sunny day of the year in Chicago, lots of drinks and activities outside capped off with some deep dish pizza for dinner. 🍕 #nypizzaisbetter

Can’t go through Ohio without visiting the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The B-2 is always the star of the show (despite the SR-71 Blackbird being my personal favourite). 🤩✈️

On the road, driving from NYC to Columbus. Stopped in Pittsburgh to check out the 446 bridges which is apparently the most of any city in the world*. 🤷🏻♂️ 🌉 🚗
