Last week in Nepal ;(
Jamasee is a saying that one Christian would say to another here in Nepal. It means praise the Messiah and has become one of my favourite sayings here in Nepal... Nepal has definitely won my heart!!! I pray that one day I could get the opportunity to come again! We have arrived back in Kathmandu and it is seriously great to be here. But here's the update of our last week in Biratnagar.!! On Monday, we went to a village that was 10 minutes away from India. We taught a simple healthcare seminar there. We also got the opportunity to do an eye test with the village. We learnt how to check someone's eye and also how to prescribe them glasses in Perth which we could use as a tool on outreach. It was such an amazing experience as we didn't have enough glasses for all but they allowed us to pray for them. We prayed for over 79 people that day and saw 24 instant healings!!!! On Tuesday, we split into two teams. One went to a local hospital which myself and 5 others went to share a devotion at the prison. One for the women and also for the men. We spent most of the time with the women, singing worship, tithing and also sharing testimonies. For the men, we only had twenty minutes and could only speak to 3. I was the one to share for the men and as we prayed about what, we felt what does it mean to be men of Honour and the story of David. I guess for me, this was a completely hard thing to do as my father lived in Sydney and I never grew up with men in my life. But I knew that God was doing something when He said I was the one to share the devotion. I spoke on how David was a man of honour in everything he did. Even as he was facing death from Saul and David had more than one opportunity to kill Saul; he stil, chose not to because Saul was Gods anointed. He didnt choose to rebel against saul or start a war; he remained loyal and faithful to the King because God had annointed him. I was lead to share my testimony of seeking forgiveness for those who have harmed me and how through Gods grace and love that we can be honourable. At that moment; I started to cry because I realised that it wasn't only just them that needed to hear this; but it was myself that needed to realise this. I came to a point of being so vulnerable infront of men; strangers to say the least. Never in my life could I have thought that I would be capable of doing that. But God really did something for me that day :) On Wednesday, we had prayer and worship in the morning and we went to the orphanage that we had gone to the previous Friday. As a school, we save money aside so that we can bless a ministry in any certain way. In Kathmandu, we blessed a church with a toilet and in Biratnagar, we painted a mural. It was one of the greatest things I've done, but also getting to love on these children and being able to bless them has been such a blessing to myself. One kid, reminded me a lot of my brother, which was so cool and found myself hanging out with him a lot. On Thursday we went to another village and did another simple healthcare seminar. We also had the opportunity to do an open air. Afterwards, we went and spoke to people. My and another girl got rejected a couple times and were feeling defeated. We approached some women who were willing to speak. After a few minutes, a boy saw that I was holding a bible and asked if it was. I told him yes and asked if he had heard of Jesus before. He said he had and asked if he could have the bible. We then started talking about the bible and Jesus and how we can learn so much from it. I then asked him if he wanted to receive Jesus as his saviour and he said yes. I was overjoyed about this, but I also knew that had to make this decision for himself and not say yes because I asked him. He is from a Hindu family and he is 12 years old, so I took it very seriously of what it means to give our lives to Jesus. We got talking alot about the choice he was going to make and he still wanted to receive Jesus. We prayed and I shared the bible with him and got him in contact with the team there so he can go to church too. I was completely amazed and I'm so excited for him. I believe God will use him greatly to share the same light with his family and the village he lives. On Friday we went to the orphanage again to finish off the mural and spend time with the kids. Saturday was church day and we went to church of one of our translators. We spent the afternoon following up with people we had met within our neighbourhood and I got to play cricket with the locals!!! Monday we went to the same village that we had gone to the first time we arrived in Biratnagar. We did another health care seminar and go to share the gospel. At night time, we had a small get together with the team and with our translators. It was a time of thanking and blessing them for all that they have done for us the past three weeks. Tuesday was our final day of ministry. Half of us went to speak in another school about our culture and the other half went to the hospital again. We saw three salvations at the hospital!!! We then were on our way back to Kathmandu. We arrived here early this morning and slept in till 12pm haha. Ill tell you, it was the scariest ride back!!!! Today we spent the day at the slums and we got to work with the church there doing the kids program. We helped kids with their homework (although we weren't that much of a help as it was all in Nepali) and got to play with them!!! Tomorrow is my last day in Nepal. :( which is extremely sad as I've come to love this place so much!! But I definitely feel that I will be back one day. It's been such a cool experience to meet the people and to see Gods heart for this nation. This nation is going through so much right now and are in need of a lot of help. But the thing that has touched me is that Nepali people are wanting to be the next generation to make a change to this nation. And I strongly believe it will be changed!!! I have seen God do some incredibly things and I'm so excited to see Him continually working here.!! Please keep Nepal in your prayers!!! This place holds so much beauty and truth, but also alot of hurt and pain.!!! Tomorrow I fly back to Malaysia and then to Thailand. I'm kinda freaked about flying by myself, so keep that in your prayers too. As I say farewell to the first destination of outreach, I'm eagerly anticipating the second half. AHHHHHHH!!! Until then my friends, I will see you all very soon! Many love and blessings! Azera

Biiiiiiiratnagar.!
Hello friends and family. Today is our day off which has concluded to exploring more of the city and now in the middle of watching The Help while sipping on a cuppa tea and eating reeses cups.. also writing up the weekly post. (Pre-warning: It’s a long post, but it’s filled with goodies!)
So much has happened this week.. Starting off this week, lets just say that I was not excited… We arrived to the hottest city in all of Nepal. Our first day was 39 degrees and I was not excited about it at all. I mean, yes sure I’ve grown up in Australia where it’s hot all the time, but man I just couldn’t handle it. We arrived early Friday morning as we took a night bus from Kathmandu. We had the whole day to rest and prepare for tomorrow as we were going to split up and go to two different churches. Here in Nepal, they only have Saturday as their weekend, so we have church on Saturdays. Which at first was really weird to see children go to school on Sunday, but they have so many holidays here, it pretty much makes up for not having a two day weekend. We made it to church and it was HOT. I was seriously sweating like a monster through my kourta (Nepali women traditional style clothes) and man I did not enjoy it. Although there were fans, you could still feel the pain of the heat. We then went out and did a prayer walk around our neighbourhood. We met a few kids who taught us a game and ended up running home because it started raining. On Monday we went to do evangelism in a university until we found out that it was a public holiday and children had already finished class, we then walked for another 15 minutes to see if any other schools were still open and we came across one that was still in class. We talked to the principle about the possibility of coming into classes and sharing about our culture. At first he seemed skeptical, but allowed us to come in on Friday. Tuesday we went to a village that was about a half hour drive and then a half hour walk. We shared with women who came and saw us, and saw four healings. Praise Jesus! We were on our way to catch our bus home but before that we were going to do another open air. And I can tell you now, we were all not feeling it. Tired, exhausted and I say again, HOT. Two of us were willing to share a testimony, but no one wanted to preach the gospel. As we prayed, I knew God was pushing me to share, but I kept coming up with the excuse that I was too tired, but really.. I was using that as an excuse to hide behind fear. One of the girls ended up suggesting that I share and I ended up saying yes, even though I really didn’t want too. Our leaders knew we were tired so we took a break before we started again. As we did, I continued with prayer. God really did a lot with me during that half hour. I realised that my heart, but mostly my attitude needed to change. Since I had gotten here, all I’ve done is complain. The heat. The people who constantly stared at us, but weren’t willing to speak with us. The language barrier and not having enough translators. I had pretty much questioned God on why would He send us to a place to make us suffer. He showed me the need of this nation, especially this city. That these were His people and they needed to be shown the way. But it made me realise- What exactly am I doing in Nepal, if I’m not being obedient to God and stepping out in faith. This was a turning point for me. As I shared the gospel, I felt completely overtaken by the Holy Spirit. We didn’t see any salvations, but we did get a chance to pray for people and connect with them. We then went on to wait for a bus to take us home. An hour gone by and no bus. An hour and a half and we knew there wasn’t going to be a bus. We found out a wedding nearby had hired all the public buses so we literally had no way home. People were taking tractors, but none were willing to carry 11 people. Luckily a school bus came by and we made our way home! On Wednesday we had ran a youth service for all the youth and young adults from the churches that the team here has connected with. We saw around 80 youth come and were completely amazed by their hunger and hearts that were so on fire for God. It was incredibly!!! On Thursday, we spent the whole morning in worship, prayer and intercession. And man, I felt all prayed out after it, but God is so worth it.. and more. At night time, we went into another village and showed them the Jesus film. We saw a total of around 150 people show up, and all of them left with tracts, and a few with bibles and also more of a hunger to know more about Jesus. IT WAS AMAZING! Friday, we went back to the school and got to share on our cultures to three different classes. Three of us took a year 10 class and at first it was a little nerve racking. We were almost as shy as the students were to ask us questions. By the end of it, they were so open to asking questions, it got a bit daunting. Especially when they were asking me what kind of minerals grow in Australia. (the heck?) Haha. But man, those kids were so amazing. We talked ALOT about cricket. One kid asked me how did Australia come to win 4 world titles.. All I could say was because we were too good, but we kind of suck at the moment. I taught them the Aussie OYE chant so that when we play, they could cheer for us even if we lose. Those kids were some of the greatest kids I've ever met. I walked away thinking man, alot of schools need to be like this. They were so disciplined, so respectful and so honouring. One time we all sang our own national anthem and they all stood up with their hand over their heart like it was their own anthem. Of course there were a few funny remarks made here and there but hey! They're teenagers after all. In the afternoon we went into an orphanage and got to love on kids. Man my heart broke and melted for these kids. I found myself hanging around the older kids more as alot of us went to the younger ones. It made me think of my church youth and how I miss them so much.! But man these children were so precious and so honouring. I swear I could’ve just stayed there the whole time.. but we had to leave. It was by far, my favourite day on outreach so far.
God really did alot for me this week.. And I feel like a completely new person. It’s been a struggle for me to have my quiet times with God here, but God STILL wanted to use me. Even at times where I felt guilty and unworthy, God still called me. I realised the lies that satan was putting in my head and I needed to remind myself of something God had told me before we came here. Too not be a breeze that just passes through, but to invest and be apart of this city as much as I can.
I’m reminded of this verse that popped up alot during lecture phase.. Ezekiel 22:30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one”..I don’t want to be a person who was not willing to make a change.. I want to be all that God has created me to be.. And He has called me here. And I’m going to be obedient and faithful that God has got some great things planned here. Even if they don’t understand what we’re saying or that they care more at the fact that we’re white (except me. They think I’m Nepali) lol… The greatest thing we can do is to love them. Because love is a language that doesn’t just require words. It also requires action. And man.. God seriously loves these people!!!!
AHHHHH! I’m super pumped for this next week coming!!!! So keep us in your prayers folks. To see breakthrough with the community but also to see more opportunities for Christians here to step out in faith and stand in the gap!
Many love and blessings to you all. Sorry it was a long post, but God is SO good!!!! xx
Had the opportunity to share about our cultures in a school which I'm pretty sure the kids knew more about Australia than I did.! #ywam #ywamperth #greatday #wetalkedaboutcricket #aussieaussieaussie

NAMESTE!!!
Hi guys!!! Soooo I've made it to Nepal! It has been such a blessing being here the past week.! I arrived the previous Thursday and jumped straight into ministry on Friday. This past week we went to a university campus, to a village in the mountains, to a park in the city and a cafe ministry in a city that is majority Buddhist. We did alot of evangelism and open airs. One story was that we finished doing an open air in a park in the city and I will tell you now.. It gets INCREDIBLY packed at the park. We asked if anyone wanted to receive prayer. I noticed one man was walking around with his son rushing to talk to one of us. But when everyone was talking to others, he would walk off and try to talk to someone else. I approached him and asked him if he needed any prayer. His english was very limited and so a man who came to hear our conversation started translating for us. He told myself and another girl on my team that his son had tuberculosis. So we started to pray for his son. Afterwards a crowd swarmed over us to see what we were doing. We asked the little boy if he sill felt any pain and he nodded his head so we prayed for him again. The second time around he felt no pain. We began to explain to the man that God is a healer and that we believe that He can heal his son. We shared the gospel with Him and told Him testimonies of what God has done in our lives. He began to share his worry about his son because two boys from his village had the same disease and died. We then started to pray for the man. We talked to him about his faith in prayer and that although he is Hindu, he came up to Christians to ask for prayer. We explained that we believe that God hears our prayers and sees his faith with asking for prayer. He didn't receive Christ, but I was truly touched by him. He had so much love for his son that he was willing to try anything, even receiving prayer from Christians. If you can keep him and his son and daughter in your prayers. His daughter also suffered from a skin condition which we prayed over. I believe God will do some miraculous things over this family, and I'm praying that they will receive Christ! Another cool story was that we went to the same park on Friday and did another open air. We paired off and I played with some children. After awhile we approached a man who wasn't interested but another man approached us and asked us questions. He had a few Christian friends and so he knew a bit about what we believe but didn't know about Jesus. We then got into sharing the gospel and story of Jesus. We gave him a tract and asked to receive Christ as his saviour. SAY WHAT.??? Haha we were both completely shocked that we asked him again if he knew what he wanted. And he said yes... We then proceeded to the sinners prayer and gave him the New Testament. We got his email to keep in contact and prayed over him as his family is Hindu and will not like that he just became a Christian. He walked off happy as a bird and we both just praised God because without Him, it couldn't have been possible. The first week of ministry has been long and tiring, but man to hear the testimonies from everyone is such a blessing. I had the opportunity to share the gospel yesterday at church which man... I could have never imagined myself doing.. But God is seriously doing some major cool things here in Nepal. We have one more week together and we split off to different locations on Thursday! Kinda sad, buuuut I'm super excited to be living in a village for 3 weeks! Thankyou all for your prayers! They have been on the move with me!!! Love you guys and will update before we head off to Biratnigur.! Many blessings! xx

Hi Guys!!! This will be my last update before I'm in Nepal.. The past three weeks have been SO amazing!!! I got all my finances in.. THANK YOU Lord and for those who helped me financially. Words cannot express how truly thankful I am! My whole school managed to get all their finances in last week so it's been a real testimony of God and His faithfulness!!! The past three weeks we had the topics of Relationship, Missions and Spiritual Warfare. It has been amazing just how much God wants to work through us and use us to go into the nations. Durning relationship week, I've learnt the importance of why God has created relationship and why it's so important for us to be relational with each other. We also talked about relationships with a future spouse and I'm completely amazed at how much I learnt from it. Haha. I'm not anti-romantic, but God was showing me the importance of praying for your husband or wife even before you've ever met them. That even though you may have no idea who they are- to pray for your marriage. So many couples are praying for their other half and they neglect to pray for the marriage. But one thing that stood out a lot was when our speaker mentioned that the reason why there's so much brokenness in the world- is because of broken relationships. The topic that has been such a highlight for me during dts would definitely have to be missions. I think the major question in my life was- why has God lead me to do a compassion dts. During this week, I found out that a lot of things in my life I did out of pity- and not out of compassion. God calls us to love and to be compassionate to one another. Our speaker John Bills had mentioned something very critical that really stood out to me was.. "How much you love your neighbours. Is how much you love God." At first I was confused, because well I love God with Agape love, but my neighbours- well some I don't even like. But it tell us in 1 John 4:20-21 "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or a sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother or sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And He has given us this command; Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister." Wow! Seriously it changed my whole mindset into understanding and realising why God wants us to love one another. Why He wants a relationship with us. But also why we should build relationship with another. It made me think really hard about this. What about those who have committed murder, rape, trafficking.. Can I still love them even after they commit such heinous crimes. And the fact is yes. All sin is the same. There is no sin that is greater than the other, so when I sin- I commit the same amount of sin that they have. And God has forgiven me of my sins. Just as He has forgiven those. Because God loves them. God teaches us that we are to love the sinner and hate the sin. We are to help our fallen brothers and sisters in order to show them the light. We are to show compassion.! We are now two days away from outreach. We are flying to Thailand for a 12hour layover and then we arrive in Nepal around Monday arvo. We will be working with a ministry called Kings Kids that works with street children in Nepal. We will also be working with healthcare, providing prescriptions of poor eyesight and homeless ministries. We also will have fun nights and may even have the opportunity to go on a helicopter ride around Mt. Everest.. AHHHH!! We will then split off in three teams and head off into different villages in Nepal. During outreach we are given different responsibilities within our team like the accountant, head chef, hospitality etc. I will be leading worship and organising fun nights and birthdays with another girl on my team. I'm super excited about fun nights and birthdays! There are 8 birthdays out of 11 people which is more than usual. But we have great things planned haha! When they told me I would be leading worship- I was a bit hesitant. I LOVE worship. Absolutely love spending time with God through worship, but I never really saw myself leading worship. I felt like I wasn't spiritual enough to lead it, that there were people in my team who are more connected with God than I am. But God really showed me the value He sees in me. That it isn't about how great your prayers are or how much better of a singer you are, but the condition of our heart that really shines through. Im still nervous about it, but I know God deserves the highest praise and so much glory!!! Sooooo.... Please pray for me! Haha I'm so excited for outreach you won't believe! I'm excited to see Gods continuous movement through these nations. To see hearts being transformed and changed to know the One who loves I'm pumped to see myself and my school go forth and Gods hands and feet. But I'm super excited to see hearts being transformed and changed to know the Creator and of a his unconditional love. Thank you guys for your love and support through these past 3 months. They have truly encouraged me through this journey and I ask that you continue with your prayers as we head off to Nepal, China, India and Cambodia. <3 Azera and Compassion dts 2013
