[ She still remembers everything her mother has done. ]
[ The memories replayed in the back of her mind, over and over again. From when she was baby, up until now. Haylee was different from the other Supernovas, a different person entirely. …She never quite liked to talk about her homecomings. She never dared uttered a word if someone around her brought up family. She never opened her mouth if someone showed her photos of their family. She never really knew what family truly was. ]
[ An ancient evil queen, who ruled with an iron fist. The Mother of Shadows, guardian of the lost and lonely. ..Tch. Some mother she was. Umbra only cared for herself, no one else. Disposing those who displeased her as if they were simple rubbish. Haylee never really remembered her. Sometimes she claims that she’s remembered the story wrong; but if someone pulls out a book and reads the title - Mother Of Shadows - she’s pulled right back into the truth of the matter. Umbra left Haylee when she was young. Haylee doesn’t exactly know why, but she isn’t going to forgive her any time soon. ]
[ The Storm King was different. ]
[ To Haylee, he was a misunderstood creature. Hungry, big, disruptive? Yes. But he loved Haylee. Loved her more than anything. He never spoke ill of his ex-wife, just never brought up her name in conversation. As if her name were forbidden. …But he loved her. Almost as much as he loved Haylee. If there’s one parent Haylee would be comfortable talking about - it would be him. The Storm King. ]
[ … But people don’t take that information too kindly. Not at all. ‘How are you such a sweet girl, yet related to a monsterous creature?’ Blame her mother, not him. The Storm King did nothing wrong. He’s misunderstood. He just wants to protect his world, and his daughter. …He begged Haylee not to leave him, but she promised she would return when she learns what it means to be seen. She wanted to change the world for good. …And be let her. God, bless that monster. That disgusting, yet sweet, monster. ]
[ And saved the world she did. Now what ? What now ? Does she keep training ? Keep going ? Does she return home ? Does she bring up her past, her family, to her friends ? Would they judge her ? ]
[ Haylee stared at a neatly written note. The scent, familiar. …Why did a note have a scent ?? Whatever. Doesn’t matter. She stared at it. The words repeatedly appearing in her mind - “I’m sorry for leaving you, Haylee. I wish to speak to you. Though you are no longer on Oninoshima, I believe this reality is a best fit for you. If you find the time within your schedule, please. Speak to me. I would like to apologize in person. There’s someone I would like you to meet. - Mother.” ]
Yeah, right! Why now all of a sudden?? When I finally feel comfortable walking on my own two feet again? Why now when I finally stopped having dreams of you? …Who the hell would ever want to meet you? To fall in love with you? To give you a second chance in life?
What of my father? Is he just thrown away like garbage..? Like me? Or perhaps she killed him, and harvested his heart for a decoration.
What of the makeshift ring he made for her, out of kinetic ore? Does she still wear it?
What about that man I was hearing about? The one that she supposedly married??
[ Wait. That’s it. Truth be told, her mother was-… always a tad bit… freaky. ]
Oh my god. What if I have a little sibling and she wants me to meet it.
[ NOW that’s drawing the line. Replacing Haylee with a baby. How pathetic do you have to be to throw your child out the side, with no explanation, only to turn up years later with a new man around your finger and a baby sleeping in your arms. …Or maybe Haylee was overthinking things. ]
[ Haylee crumbled up the note. Tossing it in her trashcan. ]
[ She had no time to meet up with her mother. She had a cheer routine to finish. ]
