*eating a ploughmans lunch* so, how long until it kicks in?
Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested by federal authorities Saturday in Miami, according to U.S. Marshals Service.
the game of thrones version of cersei lannister is like. i don't know who that is. lena headey did play the hell out of her though
I didn't even know they had a category for that
Hollywood really could have that category
today while picking up kiddo we spotted a dad carrying a toddler to their car. when they reached the car, the dad suddenly stopped short and sprinted back inside.
me: huh, must've forgotten something
husband: yeah, his second child [we both laugh knowing this can't be true]
guys. when we came back outside this man was, indeed, placing an infant in his car. he forgot the second child
reading a historical romance novel and reflecting on the way these stories often present woke nobility for the contemporary reader. a big thing is servants. you can’t not have servants in those times but many modern readers think “but I would never have servants. it would be so weird to have servants” and in order to make the protagonists of the story more relatable they are actually friends with the servants. but flip your perspective and think of it from the side of the servants. wouldn’t it be so awful if your boss was always trying to be friends with you. a really common thing you’ll see is the woke baronet having tea in the kitchen with the servants bc he’s not like other baronets. but what if your boss wanted to hang out and talk during your lunch break every day. not so charming when you think about it that way
Had to scroll scroll scroll through the notes for a long time to find a person mentioning Mr. Knightley and John Thornton. The latter literally eats lunch regularly with Nicholas Higgins.
Which doesn’t mean the point is wrong, but maybe more that we’ve been romanticizing the idea of the good and kind boss for a long time.
I have kind of a niche political view on tumblr, which is that I think misogyny is bad even when it’s just hurting women
and I don’t even think it needs to have a singular benefit for men for feminism and the abolition of patriarchy to be worthwhile
pastries always look so warm and nice– pick your favorite!
My coworker got each of us a framed photograph of one of our locally elected officials, which shows their head bowed in prayer and has script across the bottom which reads "my [title] prays". For context this is a Republican with whom I disagree on almost every major issue, but given where I work it's not surprising she'd assume we support.
What should I do with this:
Display it in my office
Keep it, but don't display it
Donate it
Burn it

"why is this post made by an american about american politics so american-centric? Don't you know other countries exist?"
Why are you guys posting about wildfires? It's literally fine where I live. Don't you know there's other places that aren't on fire right now?
I know I've said it before but it's insane how entitled people feel to the Holocaust and how smug they get when they condescend to people about it, as if the dastardly and selfish Jews are hogging their own genocide
I know I've been going on about this, but it's truly insane how so many House Democrats a) felt like they should align themselves with Massie, b) in spite of the amendment *to their own acknowledgment and statements* being very flawed and concerning, still supported it "to send a message", and c) didn't see that the message being sent is "The US will cut you loose and give you what you want, fuck over Palestinians further, and limit its influence and role, so be warned!"
Like how are you going to wag your finger and confess to having serious problems with the amendment and what it does and then support it which would belie/contradict your stated concerns and finger wagging?
