Oh hey it's the 2nd of August. It's international Romani genocide memorial day. 79 years and still the vast majority of countries don't give a fuck about it nor recognize it. Hell on Earth everywhere

It's been 80 years since the Nazis liquidated the Romani family camp in Auschwitz, killing 4,000 people in a single night. Most countries don't recognize it and most European countries continue to treat us like shit

The Roma family camp, or Sector BII-e was located in Auschwitz II aka Birkenau. There, Roma and Sinti women, men and children were held together. The only other place where this happened in Birkenau was in the Theresienstadt family camp - it was quite rare. Conditions were terrible, unsanitary and overcrowded. People were subject to disease, forced labour and starvation. The camp had a high mortality rate. All Roma and Sinti deported to Auschwitz were imprisoned in this camp - except for approximately 1700 Polish Roma who arrived, many of whom were already ill with Typhus. They were gassed immediately when they arrived on March 23, 1943. The infamous Josef Mengele was the camp's head "doctor" and he experimented on people there.

On August 2, 1944 the SS decided to liquidate the Roma Family Camp. They loaded men, women and children on to trucks to take them to the gas chamber and crematoria. Witnesses say that the people tried to revolt, but were brutally crushed. Over 4,000 Roma and Sinti were murdered on that day, today, just 80 years ago.

I just had to read the words "Labubuvitscher Rebbe" with my own two eyes so now you do too.

Translation: Panel 1 "Say, Rabbi, aren't you worried that fewer and fewer young people go to synagogue?" Panel 2 "Don't worry, I know how they will come on their own!" Panel 3 "Wow, the Labubuvitcher Rebbe!!!"

The Jüdische Allgemeine, a weekly newspaper in Germany published by the Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland (Central Council of Jews in Germany), has these little comic strips and this was the comic strip this time.
