Upon rewatching this, I think he disappeared in this moment because he could no longer hold his composure.

That's the body language of someone who is about to collapse.

A single, fleeting moment of honesty from someone who tailors his every action, his every word, to be inscrutable.

He could have stayed, he could have manipulated them with his tears. But I don't think he wanted to stick around. To hear them deliberate whether or not his pain was justification enough to free him. He could see it on their faces, in Claudia's tears, in Terry's concern and doubt. There was conflict. He just needed to be alone, lest he be reduced to begging.

This is the one and only moment he can't control. He had to fully trust someone else with his feelings, and hope they felt the same. Hope that they would love him, would love Leola, enough to save him.

Something that’s been haunting me about Aaravos ever since we learned about the Novablade

cw under the cut: theoretical suicide mention

So Startouch elves can’t be killed (and for the sake of this post, I’m assuming by extent can’t be harmed?) by normal weapons, only by the Novablade. Except—

We see Aaravos cut his hand to give his blood for the ritual with a random knife?? Sure it was censored because of the rating of the show at that point but considering Sparklepuff’s lore, there’s no doubt in my mind that Aaravos really did draw his own blood for that scene. And while this could be a continuity error, or maybe Startouch elves can be harmed by normal weapons but can’t be killed by them, but…

Why would his jailers choose to leave a knife like that accessible to Aaravos if not hoping that he’d do what they couldn’t?

This is way more rushed than I wanted it to be but… BMP AU Ruthari for the solar eclipse! Solar eclipses make prince Ethari really sick, so it’s a good thing his loyal bodyguard (sometimes called his dog) is there to keep him safe!

The more they say shit like this, the more I feel like I’m just being baited into watching for nothing to ever come out of it. Like “teehee watch our show and maybe you’ll get a hint of what you want but if you don’t, it’s your fault for thinking you would”
