         he’s  happy  to see her, and he lets her know by pushing his head against her back; he’s careful enough as to not knock her off, though, a privilege that every human at the island gets except from his own rider. hookfang doesn’t think he cares, but when he hears him complain, he scoffs and nudges heather again, just to annoy him. it works, and hookfang laughs a dragon laugh at him before his attention is back at the female. he smells food on her and he’s  hungry, which is why he’s practically demanding her to feed him.

         the red dragon  stomps  his feet on the ground, a low growl ❪ only audible for other dragons ❫ coming from deep down his throat. as the deadly nadder approaches, hookfang lowers his shoulders and raises his head, clearly relaxing:  she’s not a threat. curiosity arises at the absence of her rider by her side, though, and the previous growling becomes a questioning purr  — it’s uncommon, he knows, as they’re  almost  as close as the night fury and his human.
