lorcas lips pull to a smile, stomach rising and falling in pain at the laughter. these were the moments he cherished, the simple part of their life where neither was fighting. “what! i will not,” he chirped, a faint ow escaping his lips as fingers rubbed the wound. “fine. what should i drink, a round of shots?” he waved the bartender over, ordering several shots and downing them as they came. “okay. so do you think you could see a dart board clearly?”
dark hues followed the hand that rubbed his arm, lips curved in a clear form of amusement at the matter. “will that get you on my level? because if so, YES.” the shadowhunter encourages, groomed brows arching in an impressed manner as her companion downs the shots as though they had been nothing more than water. features pulling into an uncertain expression as she drawls on his question, narrowing her gaze as to check how her sense of sight was holding up. “possibly? though, i’m hoping that my years of training will make up for my intoxicated state.”
( lorxhearted ! )
Lorcas laughed, the echo filling the room as his head threw back into a wag. He knew she was, the subtle look on her face showed all. “Is that what you call tipsy? Ah come on, someone get the police, I think you are breaking the law.”
the sound of his laughter rang sweetly to her eardrums it felt like too long since she’d heard him laugh like that. realistically, it felt like far too long since they were like this. considering things had been TENSE between the parabatai as of late. “oh, shut up----” a single hand comes to tap against his bicep playfully, her own head shaking. “you need to start drinking up --- i can’t be this intoxicated ALONE.”
( paradisiaquc ! )
“yes, exactly that. means the same to me too.” amelie responded, tone evidently more serious than it had previously been. lately she felt as if she needed to lighten up every once in a while to keep herself from exploding ─ seriousness was such a common thing among shadowhunters, and it only made her miss her sister that much more. she couldn’t deal with that. “you, taking a sunday evening stroll?” she scoffed, not bothering to look at teegan this time around, focusing instead on the path ahead. “we’re already at the scene. do we have any witnesses?”
her words earn a halfhearted scoff from teegan, not at all offended by it. after all, she knew as well as anyone how daunting it was to be paired with someone for a task that you felt entirely capable of doing yourself —- something she was starting to realize might’ve been a thing among shadowhunters. the latter comment seems to warrant a sense of amusement from the female, the near corners of her lips curving ever so SLIGHTLY. albiet, it doesn’t last - tone returning to serious as the case at hand comes into conversation. “one, though he claims he didn’t see anything —- it was apparently too dark, and everything happened too quickly. basically, we’re going into this with NOTHING.”
( daemoniiums ! )
“if you could handle it on your own, they wouldn’t have sent me with you. i know it’s hard for you to accept you’re not perfect, but now is a really great time to start trying.” neil was a different person around teegan, a brand new side of him always exposed. “oh yeah, i’m definitely here just to amuse myself. i get off by hanging back and dealing with your bratty ass.”
jaw set sternly, the only evidence of frustration building beneath her usually apathetic exterior. “well, you seem to be the ONLY one to think that.” a lie ---- teegan was more than aware she wasn’t perfect, at least not YET. until the day her father would compliment her using that exact word, she was merely a work in progress. “real kinky, neil--- ” words expressed bitterly, having come to a halt at the end of the alleyway in question. “i’ll make sure to remember that for the HONEYMOON.”
( lorxhearted ! )
“–Getting drunk off three glasses is weak. Come on, aren’t you worth more than that?”
“i’m NOT drunk----” albeit, the almost girlish titter that escapes her suggests otherwise; a sound the sober version of herself would’ve CRINGED at. “i’m just tipsy, okay? there is a huge difference.”
( sugcrcoat ! )
“it would make it unbelievably HARDER for us to find out who they were.” blair noted absentmindedly as she crouched down, gloved hand hovering above the print, careful NOT to touch it. “but like you said,” the thought made her lips curve out slightly, “with the way they handled the attack, that is highly unlikely. the question remains however, WHERE did the owner of these prints go ??”
peering over the crouched shadowhunter, teegan observes the steps intently, as though at any given moment something is going to jump out at her. stepping carefully away from the print, the slender female begins to follow the fading steps that cover a small expanse of the alleyway a crease of disappointment presented between her brows. “the dirt wore off around here, which is little to NO help.” animatedly gesturing a single hand toward the last print a distance away from blair. “and i’m DOUBTING there’s any kind of security cameras in a place like this.”
( lilystrongheart ! )
Lily put her serious head on and tried to focus on the task at hand because she really wanted to catch whoever was doing this. “So we have a witness? That’s huge, they must have seen who attacked them right. If they left something at the scene we may be able track them? Unless they are a vampire, then a tracking spell wouldn’t work on them.” She theorised, her excitement building at being involved in the investigation and the hope of new leads.
“the targeted victim—-“ teegan confirms upon the question of them having a witness. “apparently they didn’t see a lot. ‘it all happened so fast, it was dark’,” the shadowhunter begins to impersonate, drawing it out slightly as though she was unamused by this. “which admittedly, makes our job that little bit harder.” finally, lily warrants her attention once more. momentarily teegan slows slightly in her tracks to allow herself to fall into step with the fellow shadowhunter. “exactly —- that’s why we’re heading to the scene to see if anything was left behind, a tracking spell will hopefully lead us to the culprit if they did.”
( sugcrcoat ! )
blair knew teegan to be cautious, a PERFECT fit for missions like these, so she hung back until she was sure she was in view. brown hair pulled back into a ponytail, she then moved around once more, eyes falling from her to the scene once again. “SUSPECT.” she corrected, motioning teegan towards her. “unless two people just happen to have the same shoe size && brand.” shoe prints were etched onto the dirt residue on the floor.
a single brow quirks at the correction made by the head of institute —- a sign of curiosity. obediently, teegan shifts closer toward blair, squinting as dark orbs observe the prints against the floor that confirmed indeed, it had to be only one person. “it could be a clever enough plan lead us to believe there was only ONE culprit.” an animated gesture toward the prints with her free hand, the other still lingered against her blade. “though, considering how sloppy the actual attack was, i’m struggling to believe that could be a possible theory.”
( daemoniiums ! )
neil was sure they were fucking with him. being engaged to her and then sent on a mission with her, when people should clearly have been able to see the slightest argument could end with them injured instead. he took long steps to catch up to her, despite happily being that far away. “you ever heard about the concept of a team?” it was between a whisper and a hiss, neil couldn’t hide his disdain. “or is this your first time.”
“you ever heard about the concept of a ONE WOMAN ARMY?” the female shadowhunter is quick to remark in response to his words, her own voice low considering they were closing in on the crime scene. momentarily, dark hues raise to the obnoxiously taller figure of her companion, brows quirking upward as if she was waiting for a response to her rhetorical question. “you’re welcome to hang behind ---- do whatever amuses your little self. i’m MORE than capable of handling this alone.”
( lilystrongheart ! )
“Okay I will!” She promised, trying to keep up with Teegan and resisting the urge to ask her to slow down because the other shadowhunter’s legs were longer than her own and she felt like a chihuaha trying to keep up with a labrador. She kept her mouth shut though because the only reason she’d been put on a job like this was because she was with Teegan, they never would have trusted her to do the job on her own so she didn’t want to show the other shadowhunter up.
if she had ANY empathy, there’s a chance the corner of her lips may have curved into the slightest of smiles ---- an appreciation of the female’s promise to keep up with her. albeit, that was NOT the case, instead a simple nod of her head would have to suffice. pushing open the door of the institute, evidence of manners displayed as she holds the door for her fellow shadowhunter, before continuing down the flight of steps. “as far as we’re aware, the attack didn’t have any lethal effects ---- but the suspect had fled the scene by the time the first task force got there. though, my suspicions are leaning toward a downworlder ---- not that that narrows it down.”
( britxparker ! )
“I try and you’re dead,” Brittany snarled. She never did like the girl. Although it was in the wolf’s best interest not to kill a shadowhunter, she was known to have anger issues.
a bitter chuckle passes her lips, brunette locks shifting as she shakes her head. “now THAT, is something i’d like to see.” a single hand coming up to gesture animatedly with her words. daring to get closer to the wolf. “but it’s likely i won’t, considering it’s empty threats.”
( paradisiaquc ! )
heaving a sigh, amelie trailed behind teegan, the other woman’s eagerness being more than evident to the blonde shadowhunter. she preferred FLYING SOLO, but that was rarely an option when it came to missions and assigned tasks. it was fine ─ amy just wanted to get busy, get so involved with a job that her mind would simply shut off to everything else even if only momentarily. “you know what the word partner implies, don’t you, mi amor?”
“that i’m being forced to work with someone else?” the female is quick to remark in response, yet to turn and actually look at the fellow shadowhunter following behind her. “forgive me for bulling ahead ---- though i’d prefer to get to our destination as quickly as possible, rather than seeming as though i’m taking a sunday evening STROLL.” finally, brunette wisps flick as she tilts her head to glance at the blonde. “plus, i’m pretty sure the institute are awaiting our report on the scene ---- and i’d rather not keep anyone waiting.”
( sugcrcoat ! )
those who KNEW blair knew she was a hands on type of woman even now, when her main task was to protect the institute, she was out at the scene, EXAMINING every crevice, every shadow for any clue on who this surprise attacker was. she could hear the short && swift tapping of feed on pavement, letting her know that the team assigned to the task had arrived. hand rested on the hilt of her seraph as she stood up from her crouched position behind the dumpster, waiting for them to come into view.
swiftly turning the corner, the crime scene comes into sight ---- presented in the form of a seedy-looking alleyway. movement from the opposing side of the alley catches teegan’s attention, and although she had been informed that blair had left the institute before the team had been dispatched she was still cautious enough to grip the handle of one of her blades; incase whom she had crossed was NOT the head of the institute. though, upon daring to pace across the shadows, the familiar features inform her that it was, in fact, blair she was dealing with. “any updates on the possible suspects?”
( lilystrongheart ! )
“Teegan! Wait for me!” She yelled after her partner, running down the hall to catch up with her but not stopping fast enough not to crash in to the back of the of back of the other shadowhunter. “Oof sorry.”
her pace doesn’t slow, not even with the female’s voice ringing in her eardrums and likely through the entirety of the institute. a long-winded exhale passes the shadowhunter’s lips as lily smacks right into her back, finally halting to a stop only to glance over her shoulder. “forget it---- it’s fine.” dismissively, a hand waves in regards to her apologizes; before fingers curl to gesture her to follow. “just TRY to keep up, we’ve got a scene to observe and the more time we spend fumbling around here is time that could be spent doing our JOB.”
( britxparker ! )
“Oh, you are so dead.”
“i’m practically quaking in my boots,” the shadowhunter remarks, tone nothing short of DRY ---- though something of a taunting smirk dares to curl at the corner of her lips. “i’d like to see you TRY.”
A WOMAN ON A MISSION ---- her walk alone reflected that’s exactly what teegan was. dark hues narrowed in such a way it suggested she was searching for something or someone in particular. fingers never once straying too far from one of her thigh holsters; on guard and ready to attack if the opportunity presented itself. with a recent report of an attempted attack sent to the institute, teegan found herself stalking toward the scene of the attempted crime. maybe, she had been a little TOO eager, considering she had forgotten her ‘partner’ for this particular task.
