Hello, everyone! Sorry for the silence.

Ever since the applications closed, we have been busy talking to the applicants and sorting everyone into teams that will work together.

Yes, you read that right. Just like the villains in HCCW, our contributors will be working together in teams during the zine production. Each team has both artists and writers within them, and have been given a prompt related to the story in Hero Class Civil Warfare that they will create a finished work for.

We hope you all are still excited to see the Hero Class Villains Zine become a reality. Our contributors have all been excited to work and some of them have been practically bursting with ideas!

A page listing our contributors will be added to the blog soon as well.

Applications are closed!

Thank you to everyone who applied to be a writer/artist/editor for the zine! We have sent out welcoming emails to everyone who applied, so if you're one of them, please check to make sure you have gotten it. If you can't find an email from us ([email protected]), don't hesitate to contact us about it.

We are looking forward to working with all the applicants and we hope the rest of you will enjoy our final product!

Heya! I'm trying to decide which team to pick in the app - does the answer matter?

Hello! While the teams might help us in dividing and conquering, they’re mostly just for fun! It’s like how some of us have taken on Villain names. It’s an optional thing, but if the teams prove to have enough people (on each side), maybe we can work something out!

PS: you can also choose hero/villain names, as long as you’re not the kingpin. go wild, and no doubles ^.^

hey! I already submitted an application but I was curious as to how the mods will be picking contributors, since a portfolio/sample was not asked in the application. Thanks!

We actually aren’t picking out any contributors from the list of people applying, but rather letting everyone who wish to contribute join the team. (I recently learned that this means our zine is an “open call zine”.)The form is simply to gather info on the people joining.

Gosh, I'm so glad that story is getting attention! I absolutely loved it and can't wait to see what this team does!

Thank you for the encouragement! We are also really excited- when this converged on the discord (for the works of the author), we were like "Wow, we are doing this." But we forged on and made this project a reality, becuase we all appreciate it a lot! As fans, this is our way of giving back, and I hope you all can support us along the way! ^.^

I wanna ask, you have applications but any ask is about our previous jobs or how you can see what we can offer, why is that?

I hope I’m reading this question correctly, but if I didn’t, please correct me. Are you asking why we’re not asking about previous jobs or examples of what you can do in the application form?

If so, to be honest, we forgot to add that when making it. None of the mods have run a zine before, so that was one of the small mistakes that might happen.

However, because this zine is for a fanfiction, although a popular one, we also have a suspicion that we won’t have an abundance of applicants to choose from, and beggars can’t be choosers. But we’re happy to have everyone who wants to contribute!

I hope this answered your question and if it didn’t, feel free to tell us and we’ll give you any information we can, thank you for your interest.

Welcome

This is the first official tumblr post regarding the Hero Class Civil War zine project.  Now there are plenty of questions we’re sure people have, some of us even have questions because wow did this all happen in a short amount of time, so we’re going to do our best to give a few preemptive answers here and our ask box?

Always open and ready for questions. 

(there are no dumb questions but it may take a bit to get an answer)

How this began… if you’re familiar with the fanfiction side of the BNHA fandom you may be aware that there is a rockin fic titled Hero Class Civil Warfare, you may also be aware of the discord server the author created to talk about his works and the great community people have created on it.  Well the author made a joke, as one does, about how funny would it be if he had merch.

And people were excited about it, as one is, and soon enough the idea of a Zine sprung up and some determined, maybe crazy we haven’t decided, members of the server decided YUP WE CAN DO THIS.

What is a zine and what will it be about… a zine is a lot like a mini-magazine, ours will be fan created and fan run filled with art work and writing centered around the characters and world created in the Hero Class Civil Warfare fic.  The zine will follow along the story of the fic, timeline wise, and the journey that characters go through during it.

How do I take part in this project… we have a google form up and running that will be open til April 10th in order to join working on the zine.  You can work as an artist, writer, both, or those who want to work in the actual production of the zine.

Once we close the form and we have everyone who’s going to take part together, we will discuss who will be working on what parts as a team.

Everyone who works on the zine will be invited to join a discord server so that we can all talk about what we’re working on and encourage each other.  This will also allow for direct communication between admins and content creators.

If you don’t wish to make a discord for this, that’s fine and we’ll do our best to communicate through email.

What if I have more questions before I decide to join… awesome! Questions are always good and it’s great that you want to know more before taking part in the project, you can just ask a question here or if you like you can email the account in the notes of the google form.

How do I keep updated on the zine if I’m not working on it… we’ll do our best to keep this tumblr updated with our progress and maybe some funny snippets of what goes on with our production and creative team.  We’ll also have a twitter up to keep people updated and hopefully garner more attention.

Is this zine for charity?

It is not. For now it’s going to be a free pdf, though if there is a high enough demand, we might release a physical copy as well. But we’ll cross that bridge if we get to it.

What does hcv stand for?

"Hero Class Villains"! While the fic we're basing this off of (link) focuses on both sides of the War, we'll be focusing on the Villains :3

Rules for the Zine

These are the rules for working on the Zine and within the discord server while working on the zine.

1. There will be no NSFW content in the Zine, this project will be for everyone and by anyone and we don’t want anyone who is a minor or uncomfortable with that kind of content to be dissuaded from enjoying the project.  (cursing is allowed but no nsfw talk)

2. No character bashing, yeah you may hate a character and the way they’re developed (we may all hate one specific one), but this is for fun so please keep it nice. 

3. No intense gore.  We know that there is some inherent injuries that occur in the hero/villain line of work, but intense body horror and gore is going to be a no go.  We want to be a fun place for people who enjoy the fic this is based off of.

4. No discriminatory/hate speech.  This is a work of fun and love, anyone who is deliberately using derogatory comments/words will be asked to review the rules and their own words, if they continue they will be asked to leave the team.

5. No plagiarism or art theft.  People put hard work into their creations and it is up to all of us to make sure people are credited for their work.

6. Time/deadlines.  If at any point you are unable to continue with the zine, maybe there’s an unexpected life complication, the deadline came up behind you and hit you with a 2x4, or life just got in your way, we understand and you ask for extra time, help, or even just to have someone take over your portion at any time.  We won’t hound you about it, other than making sure you are ok, life happens.

7. You must be a participant in the creation of the zine, author or writer or production team, to be a member of the discord server.
