Selected 9: Visualizing the 2013 Human Development Index
This visualization was created by InKyung Choi, a spatial statistics specialist working at UNECA in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This visualization consists of three interconnected parts, each answering a key question. The first part of a map presenting the level of human development of each country and the loss on each component due to inequality. The second part shows how world population is distributed in terms of human development. The last component are four line charts showing progress that countries have made in terms of HDI and its components (life expectancy, education and income) since 1980. For the best results, we recommend using Chrome or Safari browser. This work a collective effort of Katalin Bokor, Xuan Che, InKyung Choi, Malgorzata Cwiek and Peter Njagi.
