They had arrived the the funeral for the Queen. Dragons descending upon the capital that looked far different from the one's the people were used to seeing. Closer in appearance to Daemon's Caraxes, with longer serpentine necks, the most notable difference though was the hood that expanded around their necks when they roared. Each a coloring mixture of blacks, reds, and gold that when flying together in a tight knit unit upon their arrival was a powerful scene to behold.
Dismounting from his dragon's back he paused, gaze snapping around the Dragonpit as his sisters and half-brother dismounted around them. Their mother, recovering from the mental blow of loosing her dragon only a month ago had been unable to make the trip, placing his eldest sister in charge of giving the King their condolences.
Pulling leather gloves from his long fingers he strode out from under Janaldren's shadowy wing, pausing as his gaze spotted a white haired female with a red-headed beauty at her side approaching them. Easily recognizing Rhaenyra from the few times she had visited their mountain keep, his lips pulling into a half smile hinted with the shared grief of knowing what it was like to loose a parent. "Our hearts grieve with you, Princess Rhaenyra."
As he finished speaking his sisters arrived, surrounding Rhaenyra as they too gave their condolences, leaving him ushered to the outskirts of the group and closer to the redhead who had been with the Princess but stood as far as possible from the dragons. Dark gaze flicking towards her as he bowed lightly in greeting. "Valerian Heart, m'lady."
Alicent knew a little of the visitors from Rhaenyra's stories and had all but been dragged along to greet them with her. She had a hard time telling the Princess no so soon after the Queen's death, knowing the pain of losing ones mother all too well she stayed close to her in the days after her passing. She did her best to offer distractions and sadly most days that landed them at the dragon pit, her least favorite place to be.
Perhaps if it wasn't for Prince Daemon scaring her when she was younger she wouldn't be as afraid of dragons as she was, but there was no going back now so she put on a brave face and went with her day after day, normally waiting in the carriage while she flew and tended to her yellow beast.
The Lady had to admit they were beautiful, but that deep seeded fear kept her thoughts from going past that. This day was no different, dressed in black she joined Rhaenyra at the pit to greet the guests with a polite smile, edging out of the way when the Princess was descended on by a group of women. Emerald eyes taking in the great dragons they had ridden in on, they were lovely beasts, still she kept her distance.
When the man spoke to her she bowed her head in greeting, studying him as she had the dragons, he was handsome in the way Prince Daemon was handsome, sharp almost in features, not unlike the dragons they road. "It is a pleasure to meet you, my lord. I am Alicent Hightower-- welcome to Kings Landing though I wish it was under better circumstances."
"Ah, so your Alicent." He mused, gaze lighting in recognition of the name. Rhaenyra having always mentioned her during her visits, often wishing that her friend from the city could have come along as well. Remember too that one of the main reasons she hadn't was because their keep, unlike even the captial, was filled with dragons. Much like Dragonstone, with the wild dragons in various caves, avoiding them wasn't something one could do in their mountains. "Rhaenyra spoke of you often during her visits."
Shifting slightly back towards his sisters, each of whom where pulling the Princess into tight hugs he gaze softened even more. "I rather hoped our first visit to the capital since our births would be for a more joyous occasion."
Piercing blue eyes flicked back to Alicent, sweeping over her for a moment before he added. "You fear them, do you not? The dragons."

*appears like a wild gremlin* I have returned! Gonna be doing a massive dusting off before getting started on anything. Since its been a hot minute I'll be dropping all threads and starting with a clean slate. Also, most muses will be removed or added to a request only since its basically the Hearts that woke up and I want to be able to focus more on individual muses.
