On the Winds of Storm
((a continuance of "The Last of the River Song" by atrickyzergblog
Light mist gave way to a steady rain, as Nynaevve Mandragoran gazed out from the doorway of her humble hut, nestled quaintly in the center of her farm in the Verdant Belt area of Four Winds, Pandaria. BabyCat purred softly, circling between and around Nyn's ankles, as Nyn sipped fresh-brewed Gingseng Tea, from her sea-glass mug.
She smiled down to the soft furball, tickling her bare feet, "This surely is a nice break, sweet Baby", Nyn sighed, reflectively.Â
A soft bubbling sound came from the stove, signaling to Nyn her breakfast of swirling soup was just about ready. As she turned from the doorway, nearly tripping over Baby, Nyn reached to the stove, putting out the flame under the heavy dark iron cook pot. She closed her eyes, taking in the flavorful scents of both the soup and her fresh baked bread, cooling on the table.
Nyn poured herself a bowl of the soup, breaking some bread, which she spread across the top, then nestled back onto her generous-size bed, cradling her bowl; BabyCat right behind her.
"All is right with the world, again,", Nyn murmured as her wolf-dog, Wolfen, padded into the hut, plopping himself next to her, causing Baby to lift up into the air, briefly, coming down with a "hiss". Nyn gave Baby an assuring rub, then gently scratched Wolfen behind his ear. She had found him nearly-starved, along the road to the Silken Fields. "What would I do without you two?"
As if from nowhere, a wall of rain hit the hut, led in by a furious wind. Wolfen bolted from the bed to the doorway in one leap, barking wildly. Baby's back arched up, hair on end, letting out a long, loud cat growl. Nyn rose swiftly, but carefully from the bed, placing her bowl on the nightstand, as she made her way to the doorway, rain pelting in on her nearly sideways. Nyn struggled with the heavy wooden door, usually left open, its hinges groaning from lack of use. Managing to click it shut, Nyn turned back to the stove, the oven still warm, attempting to dry off, her silken sleep-shift thoroughly wet.
"Oh, goodness, I am soaked!", peeling it off, then draping it over a chair-back to dry.
                                    ~~ CRACK ~~
Nyn jumped at the louder-than-usual thunder, her home momentarily illuminated by the lightening's wrath. She bolted to her tiny wardrobe, pulling out her priestly-healing gear, dressing in earnest. Minutes that seemed like hours passed; Nyn, Baby and Wolfen all huddled together on her bed, a ward and shield around them.Â
Then .... silence ....
Rising from her bed, Nyn cautiously made her way to the door, peeking out it's small window.
"Well, for Light's sake, the sun is shining", as she pulled open the door, taking in the destruction left behind by the storm.
Walking down the steps, she glance to the lean-to, her pigs, sheep and yak, all safe within.
"Praise the Light, you all seem okay," she exclaimed, running her hands carefully over each and every one, tails of all sizes wagging at her touch, and soft humming.
Nyn walked over to her flattened crops, sighing softly, but hopeful that some could be saved. As she picked through the tangled windshear cactus, her hand fell upon something caught in the fronds. Nyn carefully parted the stems, pulling out a parchment-like paper, with tiny, spidery letters, and hand-drawn pictures scrawled on it.
Nyn rose, holding up the parchment to the sun's light, noting much of the ink had run and smeared, but most of the message seemed intact, at a quick glance. Nyn carried it up the stairway to her hut, puzzling over where it had come from, and from who, when she caught sight of a lone water strider, standing by the road.
"Now what are you doing so far away from home?", at which the strider quickly hid behind a large boulder.  Anxious to dry the paper out, Nyn went back into her hut, gently placing it on the table, then dragging the table closer to the warmth of the stove. The heat made quick work of drying the parchment, its words and pictures becoming clearer. Nyn squinted a bit to make out the words, when her free hand clutched to her chest.
"Goodness, no!", gasping, "Hsuhan!", she shrieked, hands now shaking uncontrollably, as she struggled to get her comm out from the hidden pocket in her skirt.
"I must tell Kael'than!"
The Last of the Riverâs Song
((A quick write up to follow the epilogue to Premonitions))
Elder Huâjinko held onto the thick carapace of his water strider, clutching firmly in his hands a missive meant for the Shado-Panâs eyes. What he had seen in the river had to be brought to their attention, no matter what they were embroiled in currently, this information was imperative. It is not easy for an elder Jinyu to up and leave his or her village, but he knew what had to be done. The clouds above the Valley of the Four Winds converged into an overwhelming gray, pouring torrential waters down from above. The deep boom of thunder echoed through the entire valley and the flashes of lighting reflected of off the pristine rivers that ran through the farmland. The water on his skin felt refreshing, revitalizing almost. He knew that once he left the valley, the trek to Kun-Lai would be perilous. Suddenly, in the soaked blades of grass the farm fields, his water strider ceased to move.
Huâjinko patted the side of his mount, petting her thorax: âShh, there there girl. What is a matter? It is just a storm, it will pass.â
The thunder boomed once again, the water strider screeched and buried its head into the grass. Huâjinko appeared startled and looked around. The farmlands were accustomed to having tons of Pandaren farmers working on them; however, the downpour caused most of them to turn in and let their crops absorb the rain.
âI guess we are own are on, girl. Come now, we must get going.â The jinyu dismounted his water strider and slowly rubbed her head. He looked into her eyes, âWhat is the matter?â
In her blue eyes he saw a figure, a tall darkness behind him. It had horns and cackled with wings unfurled.
âBy the RiverâŠâ
Large claws pierced the Elderâs chest, fracturing his bones and splitting his sternum. The water strider ran in fear as the Elderâs blood splattered onto her face.
The creature withdrew his claws from the jinyuâs chest: âYou could not stay hidden from us for long, could you?â
He turned over on the ground, gurgling his own blood in his mouth.
Fear filled his eyes: âTheâtheâtheâLegion!â
Huâjinko took his last breath as his eyes rolled into the back of his head. The lightining flashed and all that remained was a fresh corpse on saturated blades of grass. The missive he clutched so closely in his hand had been swept away into the wind, soaring over the farmlands of the valley.
August 16th, the Spirit Walker attempts to commune with the Raven God Anzu with his hired arms at hand. Will the shadowy god answer his call? Or will the Spirit Walker be consumed in the darkness?
Looking forward to this! :)
Premonitions
Rapidly tilting and shifting side to side, Hsuhan tucked the orb safely under his left arm as he used both of his hands to grasp the bamboo railings of the kite. It had been nice of the Pandaren of Zouchin Village to allow him transportation to the Monastery; however, he underestimated the fury of Kun-Laiâs winds. He hoped Bladeborn made it safe from the beachhead where they battled the Iron Mercenary crew, but deep down he knew he need not worry. While Embershield constantly irritated the Pandaren by overstepping the Shado-Panâs authority, Hsuhan came to admire the Blood Elf, perhaps even view him as the brother he never had. They fought each other, but when it mattered most they fought together. He knew Bladeborn would always be safe in his capable hands. Hsuhan  would request a dispatch of Shado-Pan to Zouchin village to ensure that no more mercenary groups were planning on disturbing the residents there and then present the orb to Lord Taran Zhu and the Shado-Masters, at least that was the plan.

Serenityâs Veil Musical Selection
((Since this is seems to be a pretty popular write up and defining Hsuâs character at this point in the arc, I thought I would throw in the music. The first is the music I imagine with the scene, the others are the song of Liu Lang, instrumental and vocal. As always, listen with headphones!))

A Sonâs Burden
Hsuhan could not leave the edge of the ship, glaring at the water in the moonlight as the the vessel was nearing Kun-Lai. It all seemed like a blur, a haze. It started when they were jumped by mercenaries from beyond the seas, and in order to protect the orb him and Bladeborn fought valiantly. But even during the combat, Hsuhan knew a member of Embershieldâs Concurrence had to jeopardize the operation. Who else knew about the operation? The Shado-Pan did. Despite Emebrshield and Embergloryâs argument that a Shado-Pan member could have done such a thing, Hsuhan knew it was not so. More often than not he felt as if he did not belong, perhaps he should have stayed in Pandaria camoflagued by the Mists in a world that he understands and a world that understand him. Embershield gawked about how Hsuhan had just seen the ârealâ world, but Pandaria was Hsuhanâs real world. Pandaria was the only world he had ever known until these warring strangers appeared on his soil and began military operations. There were small glimpses of him feeling like he belonged, when he first entered the Trade or just the other day sharing lemon bars and ale with the Bladeborn, but was it all a smokescreen?

Where Honor Does Not Follow
((Thanks to Vairal for granting me permission to use his character ideas for this write-up and allowing me to bring life to his D20 NPCs. Another thanks for speaking with me to try and capture how he envisioned them.))
Captain Roâkash dashed through the jungles of Tanaan, her iron clad crew behind her. Gulâdanâs Fel Horde lackeys were fast on their tail. Mounted on their savage fel wolves, their blighted claws were heard tearing through the withered shrubbery on the forest floors. The night enveloped the suffering jungles, its silent torment echoing across all of Draenor.
âGorâtak, Marâthad! On my six!â Roâkash shouted.

Enya - Only Time Lyrics
Nynaevve's Lament continues
Wearily, she shuffled to the closest room of the inn at the Salty Sailor; exhausted, confused, sad, relieved, lonely ⊠so many emotions tearing at her. Nynaevve took time only to kick her shoes off before collapsing on the bed, her head greeted by the softness of down. How long had it been since she last slept in a soft, warm bed, let alone felt real sleep? Alas, there was that night Delios visited her in the cold, dark cell, beneath the garrison. âPraise the Light itâs over. No more threats ⊠no more addiction ⊠no more pain for any of us.â Her mind went back to the start; after Blood Congress in GromâGol, being approached by Valerian. âValerian! That son-of-a-bitch! He lied ⊠LIED!!â Nynaevve curled up in a ball around the pillow, muffling her sobs. He had pressed her so very hard, convincing her to go with him in order to save Deliosâ life, only to betray her to the Demon Lord; forcing her to drink the blood. âI tried. Light, I called upon you; used you with all my heart⊠it wasnât enough⊠it just wasnât enough âŠâ The night passed; days passed; no word from Delios, nothing. No messages -, no sound of him on the comm, just nothing. âMaybe he just changed his mind; maybe this impurity changed his mind. Maybe heâs in danger!â Checking with Kaelâthan after Mondayâs Blood Council, she asked if heâd had word from Delios. âNo, I havenât, actuallyâ Kaelâs words echoed hollow in Nynaevveâs ears, her gut turning with worry. âIâll have Vandrayne try and track his commâ, he continued. Now, all she can do is wait. Pray and wait. Heading out to QuelâDanas the next morning, she looked at her little farm in Four Winds, sadly. Leaving it in the care of Gina, she wasnât so worried about her sweet critters; she just didnât know when sheâd ever be back. âI have to get back to the Sunwell, or at least close to it. I have to try and feel whole, again.â
The battle for the rescue of Nynaevve.
