I made some aesthetics based off of some (kin) memories. In order: 1 • Girls Night with the Schuyler Siblings, Mariah, and I. We watched old movies and did each others hair, nails, and makeup. 2 • The annual college carnival. A bunch of people usually ended up in the ER because of bad decisions. 3 • My sister’s Karaoke nights with her friends (and me sometimes). They were a lot of fun from what I remember. They usually ended with Disney songs. 4 • Ghost Observing with my sisters (I had like, seven of them). We usually walked around cemeteries and abandoned houses with cameras. It was really fun and we met a couple of nice ghosts.

My name is Samuel Seabury, and I’m here with a few things about my canon!

- it was a modern setting, everyone was in college.

- my canon would fall under urban fanatasy, I don’t remember many humans at the college

- I remember being an angelic being, though I wasn’t very religious.

- I roomed with (Charles) Lee, who was a wolf shifter who couldn’t handle a lot of noise, George Frederick III, a vampire who was semi-distant royalty who came from a wealthy family, and (James) Reynolds, who was a fae

- We kicked Reynolds the Fuck out of our dorm when we found out he was abusing his girlfriend and my adoptive sister. Burr, who was human, ended up moving in instead

- Mariah (Lewis) was a siren, and she was my adoptive sister. She loved going to karaoke with all of her friends

- I had a huge crush on Lafayette, but I don’t remember if I acted on it or not

- (John) Laurens and (Hercules) Mulligan were both humans, while Alexander (Hamilton) was a mer-shifter and Lafayette was vampire. They all roomed down the hall from us.

- Lee and Burr were dating.

- The Schuyler Sisters all shared a room. The three were all adopted siblings. Angelica was a genderfluid witch, Eliza was a nonbinary Druid, and Peggy was a transfeminine Angel.

- The Washington’s were Alexander and John’s adoptive parents, Martha (Washington) was a selkie and George (Washington) was an Immortal

- The college has an annual fair that always ended up with someone in the hospital, wether it be from alcohol poisoning, getting in fights, or getting in some form of accident.

- Mariah and I would host girls nights with the Schuyler’s and we would paint each other’s nails and talk about stuff while old movies played in the background.

- I used any pronouns, but checked off ‘Male’ when gender was required

- There was a bit of tension between humans and non-humans, but it was only a little and rarely caused any big drama where we were

That’s all I have at the moment, but I’ll probably add more eventually as I remember more stuff!

Tumblr interaction and entitlement

Recently, I didn’t reply to someone who had messaged me on Tumblr and this person reacted by blocking me, so that when I found time to answer the message, I had typed up my reply, and, obviously, couldn’t send it. I thought, well, that’s kind of a petty response to someone not answering right away (never mind that it would be sometimes days or weeks before I answer people’s messages on other forums, and they would be cool with it). I thought about this, and I thought about mentioning it, and the reason I’ve decided to talk about it is because it goes back to perceptions about interaction with others that we all need to be mindful of.

If someone sends me a message that I don’t answer right away or don’t answer at all it’s because:

I’m busy - I have a life that’s not Tumblr and that takes precedence.

I’m thinking of what to say - I sometimes need to do that. Thoughts aren’t always completely formed in my head, and I don’t write without thinking.

I’m not emotionally capable of responding - I’m upset about the thing you’re asking me about or I’m processing, so I can’t talk right now.

I don’t want to talk - everyone should be allowed to be silent if they feel like it.

I don’t have any more to say - if all I’m going to do is repeat myself, or if the conversation has come to a natural end, then I’m not going to say any more.

Tumblr got hungry and ate your message - which means I didn’t get it, which means I obviously couldn’t reply.

But, what all this really comes down to is this: no one is entitled to my attention. Message me by all means, but no one has an automatic right to my time or my emotional reassurance, even if I’ve provided it before. I’m a nice person: I like to talk to people and be reassuring and positive, but I am not a bottomless well of understanding and reassurance. I’m someone who needs time to process my own feelings and replenish my own stock of positivity, particularly when I’m upset about something. We are all entitled to make ourselves available to anyone or no one as we see fit.

So, anyone who feels like they’re entitled to my time or yours, and who gets petty or upset when they don’t get it, is not someone I or you need in our lives anyway. Respect yourself and your emotions and your time, and forget about anyone who can’t accept that.
