“Okay, well, uh…” Sora wanted to ask one more question, though he wasn’t sure how comfortable Riku would be with answering it. “What about blood drinking? ‘Cause, that’s something you probably have to do, right? Would that kill me? Or turn me into a vampire? How much would it hurt?”
“Also how can you not like garlic? It’s in so many things!”
Riku shrugged. “It smells bad....” He hesitated, then decided to answer honestly. “And... yeah. I do drink blood. It’s... been a while since I did it last though.... And no, it won’t kill you, unless someone messes us real bad, and same with turning you into one. That has to be intentional. And... I don’t really know... how much it’d hurt....” He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “I kinda... passed out when I got bit....”

“Well, for starters, what would happen if you ended up in sunlight? Would you turn to dust? Or stone? I’m gonna assume you don’t sparkle, ‘cause that would be awful…” He said, as if being a walking disco ball would be worse than DYING.
Riku laughed awkwardly. “Right. That… it won’t kill me… just make me feel really sick….” he tugged on a lock of his hair nervously.
“Oh, okay, I see.” Sora nodded attentively. “Well, what about all the other myths? Can you see yourself in a mirror? Do you get hurt by running water? Do silver or crosses hurt? Are you allergic to garlic??”
Riku blinked. So many questions! So fast! “Uh, yes I can see myself in a mirror. No, running water doesn’t hurt, I mean I take showers just fine. And I don’t think those hurt...? And I just don’t like garlic so I’ve never tried?” He tilted his head slightly.

“W-Wait…” Sora took two steps forward, so they were at the same distance they were before. Perhaps now that he knew Riku wasn’t going to kill him and turn him into one of the undead, he wasn’t so scary now. “I-I’m sorry. I don’t mean to offend you. I just wanted to be sure…you know…you weren’t going to eat me. I mean, the cat kind of put me on edge, and then I saw your fangs…A-Anyway, I’m sorry. I feel really bad now…”
Riku held his hands up. “No, no. Don’t feel bad. It’s smart to be… wary.” He shifted his weight, nervously chewing his lip. “It’s okay…. I’m sorry I scared you….” He gave a small, reassuring smile.
“Oh, it’s okay.” Sora smiled back. “Well, on the bright side, I know you a little better now, so I’m glad for that. …Would you mind if I asked you some questions?” He asked, prepared to ask a barrage of them.
Riku’s eyebrows rose. “Uh... sure....” he said, tilting his head. This was new. People didn’t usually react this way to him. Something told him that Sora was special. That made him smile.

“Eh?! Um, Riku…!” Sora noticed the fangs and wondered what the heck was going on. People didn’t normally have fangs. Sure, he could have been one of those goth kids that liked pretending they were vampires, but those looked awfully real! “Riku, you have…fangs…??”
Riku’s eyes widened and he slapped a hand over his mouth. Great job!
“No I don’t.” He mumbled through his hand. Flawless recovery. He sighed and lowered his hand in defeat. “Please don’t freak out…..”
Sora frowned, taking a step back from him.
“You’re not gonna hurt me, are you…?” He asked with some hesitation.
“No! No... Definately not....” Riku held his hands up. “Ugh... look at the mess I’ve gotten myself into now....” He slowly lowered his hands, looking down at the ground. “Look... maybe... maybe it’d be better if you forgot you ever saw me....” He took a step backwards.

“…” His heart stopped dead in his chest, the noise in the trees growing louder. Sora thought he might die next to this beautiful, strange-eyed man until…
The ‘monster’ emerged.
And it was a cat.
“Oh, Georgie!” Sora called, as if he knew the little orange feline. “You nearly scared me half to death! Go on! Go back home!” He tried to instruct. The cat walked around Sora, nuzzling his legs for a minute before finally heading back home. “Eheh, sorry, that just kinda happens sometimes…”
Riku nearly collapsed on the spot. He put a hand over his heart and laid his head against one of the posts of Sora’s front porch. “I seriously thought we were gonna die.... I must be delerious....” He wheezed, slowly straightening up and looking back at Sora. He grinned sheepishly, not realizing that his teeth were still pointed and his eyes were still glowing. “Sorry I freaked so bad.”

“Uh, right…” Was what Sora said, though in truth, he wasn’t sure if he ever would. Would he be back out in the park again? He didn’t really know where else he could see Riku again, and it made him a little disappointed.
Before he could open the door and go back in, he heard a violent rustling sound, of a tree or a bush. “Uh? What was that?” He asked, trying to find the source.
Riku froze, then snapped his head towards the trees. Something was there. Was it the same thing from the park? Without thinking, Riku stepped in front of Sora protectively and bared his teeth, his eyes started glowing an aqua green color.
“Uh? Riku?” Sora looked at the other with growing concern. He couldn’t quite see his face from this angle, but he could see some light coming off of his eyes. And while he noticed how pretty they were before, he was pretty sure eyes weren’t supposed to glow like that. Growing ever more fearful, the brunet had to ask “What is it? What’s out there?”
“I don’t know....” Riku narrowed his eyes at the trees. He could sense something lurking up there. His nerves felt like they were on fire, the hair on the back of his neck standing on end. He didn’t notice how worried Sora sounded, or even connect the thoughts that Sora could /see/ his eyes.

“Uh, right…” Was what Sora said, though in truth, he wasn’t sure if he ever would. Would he be back out in the park again? He didn’t really know where else he could see Riku again, and it made him a little disappointed.

“Oh, I just typically spend all my time around my friends, anyway.” He shrugged, not really thinking much about whether or not anything was out there. He felt tough enough not to have to worry about any of that. He was at that age where he felt fairly invincible against the world.
“Oh… uh that’s cool.” Riku mentally smacked himself again. How lame! He cleared his throat and tried again, turning his head away when he felt his teeth itching. Don’t look at him. He’s not food. “It’s cool that you spend time with friends.”
“Eheh, yeah.” Sora nodded. Soon enough, they arrived at his stop, and after getting off, it was only a short walk back to his home. Nothing fantastic, and nothing particularly notable, but it was still his. They reached his doorstep, where Sora smiled at the silver-haired boy and said. “Okay, well, thanks for walking me here.”.
Riku nodded slightly, smiling in relief. “Yeah. No problem.” He felt his fangs poking his lips and quickly shut his mouth. He ran a hand through his hair nervously, turning his head away. “So... I’ll see you then....”

“Ahaha,” Sora had to laugh at the cheesy pick-up line. “Kind of, but when I do, I’m typically with my friends. I don’t normally go on my own like this.”
Riku ran a hand through his hair. “Right. That’s... a good idea. Never know what might be out there.....” He glanced at Sora out of the corner of his eye. Why was this so hard? Maybe he was just out of practice... with talking to people....

Soon enough, and quite thankfully, the bus began to roll up. “Ah, there it is.” He said, stepping on, paying his fee and then sitting at a seat that they could both sit on.
Riku hesitated. He’d walked him somewhere safe right? His job was done. He could leave now. But when he looked at Sora, something told him to follow. He hoped it wasn’t just his teeth itching for a meal. So he sighed and climbed onto the bus, paying his fee. He drifted down the aisle, wrapping his arms around himself as he passed by the few other people that were on the bus with them.
“? Something wrong?” Sora asked as he looked over to Riku and saw him holding himself. It wasn’t particularly cold that night so he had to wonder why.
Riku shook his head. He leaned forward a little to whisper to Sora. “...just not used to so many people.” He shifted slightly, but shook his head again. “Let’s just.. sit down....”
