I sat on the bed with an arm full of bracelets,

dressed in a blue gown feeling the breeze on my bare back

the doctor asked her routine questions,

How's school?

its going well

Eating right?

could be doing better

Go out with friends?

not very often

People treating you right?

yes

Any thoughts of hurting yourself?

  i swing my legs that are hanging on the edge

just like i am holding on for life every day.

with an arm full of bracelets

i simply smile

look her in the eyes

and say
