Hey friends! Not sure how many of you all know this, but I'm a Pre-K teacher at a play based school. 🩵 Play based learning means that all of our learning is done through PLAY instead of worksheets!! If anyone is feeling generous, here's my classroom wishlist!

Like, the thing about buddie is 100% about the way the show builds love. It's the "you don't find it, you make it". It's the "when you're at your worst, they're at their worst, you have every reason to give up and you still decide to try again". It's the "like I'm standing on solid ground". Love on the show is about showing up. Over and over and over. Through everything. We learn that with Buck in 208 after we see an example of it with bathena in 206. And it's exemplified with madney in 208 and it continues on in S2. And none of Buck or Eddie's love interest actually do that. You can maybe argue that Taylor and Shannon tried, with the shooting and chim's stabbing respectively, but it's not continuous. They do give up eventually. But we've seen Buck and Eddie do that for each other again and again and again. From Buck helping with Chris early on to Eddie, fresh off a car crash, tearing down a town that's accusing him of murder because he's the only one who can save him. It's about noticing. Being the safe space. The solid ground. They never bothered with other love interests. In fact, in recent seasons, relationships for the both of them come back to trying to get laid. Because realistically, that's the only thing missing from their partnership. So yeah, we wanna see that potential fulfilled. The show made Buck and Eddie partners in the same way they built the marriages of the other pairings. We just want that payoff.
@trickygreyarea no. But literally.
And it's also about how Eddie says Buck can have his back and Buck says Eddie can have his. The impact wouldn't be as intense if they weren't giving the other the option to take care of each other. It's a lot more of an invitation than "I can have your back" would be. It's about seeing the door is open but still deciding to stay.
