Is it too late to join the Adelaide Parade with some Over the Garden Wall fan art?
I've still got some work to do on this, but it just felt good to sit down and work on art again after so long.

A young boy gives his shy new friend a flower and he's really quite flattered by it all.
Jacket designs for Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter series. These are some of my favorite books, so I wanted to design a series of covers that focused on one key element from each story.

Design for a book cover that I ended up not using. I think it still looks cool, though.
A lazy sketch I did a while ago because I felt like drawing cats and space.
A postcard covered in some kitty cats.
Fanart assignment for my illustration portfolio class! Truthfully, I don't know a lot about Star Trek, but a couple weeks ago my roommate and I watched the 2009 remake and I just had to draw these guys.
Artists Statement
The cartoons I watched as a kid had the most influence over the direction and style I took in my work. Cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Time Squad, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Dexter's Laboratory all had similar artistic qualities. The simple, shape based character designs, the color palettes, and the stylized environments mesmerized me and became things that I tried to emulate in my own work. A large majority of my pieces are done in Adobe Illustrator, and a few pieces are done in Photoshop. Simple, bold shapes dominate the composition, usually accompanied by different textures and patterns; the color palettes are often monochromatic or complimentary to keep my compositions easy to read.

Zara Picken Zara Picken has two websites, her own domain and her Tumblr. Her personal website has gone without an update for quite a while. The design of it is really simple and easy to navigate. Her logo and important links are in the top left corner, followed by all of her work. The plain white background allows the colors and textures within her work to really pop and catch a viewer's attention. However, when you click to view one of her pieces at a larger scale, the results are a little disappointing. After clicking an image, the page automatically scrolls up to the top and the image cuts across the right side of the page. Often, the image that is being viewed is smaller than the link, and the way it cuts across other images creates a distraction.
Picken's Tumblr blog is just as simply designed as her website. She also adds a bit of commentary to these posts, describing what the project was and her thoughts behind the designs. When clicking on an image to view, it leads you to a separate page. This makes the designs easier to view, but there's still the issue of these images being particularly small.

Gigi D.G.
Gigi D.G is the author and illustrator of a popular webcomic called Cucumber Quest. She maintains a Tumblr art blog that she updates regularly with sketches, character sheets, and doodles. Usually, all of these updates revolve around her webcomic and that cast of characters, with a few pieces of fanart and other original pieces. The layout is clean and simple, easy to navigate. Once again, the simplicity of the layout allows the artist's colorful pieces to really jump off of the page. The only bump in the road are the posts submitted by viewers, which interrupt the streaming of her pieces.

Kelly Bastow
Kelly Bastow, also known as MooseKleenex online, works predominantly in ink and watercolors. Her Tumblr and her website are extremely clean cut and simple. Her website showcases her work in a large, clear size. Her posts lack any sort of commentary and explanation; and while I believe that a lot of her pieces speak well enough on their own, it would be nice to see some kind of reflection on some other pieces.
