Rocket: *is extremely entertained by the separation of people from their mechanical prostheses, laughs his ass off every time*
also Rocket: *grew up surrounded by friends with cybernetic enhancements that could not be removed, has intrinsic mechanical parts himself, is likely so amused and delighted because the concept of separating the biological and the biomechanical is deeply strange and surprising to him (because he couldn't take them out if he wanted to)*
Nebula: *goes to great lengths to get Rocket Bucky's metal arm for Christmas because she--more than anyone--understands and relates to this (as someone who also feels more machine than person and marvels at separated prostheses and how people can endure without them)*
Guardians 1: mommy issues
Guardians 2: daddy issues
Guardians 3: self-esteem issues
If the shot of Adam reaching for Peter looked familiar, it's because it was a reference to Michelangelo's Creation of Adam painting (1512):
In addition to Adam's hand position being a fun nod to his status as a "god among men" (he takes the place of God in the original work) the reference implies that Adam's decision to save Peter's life- arguably one of the first choices he has truly made for himself- was a moment of creation... the one in which Adam used his Groot-given second chance to become the person (the hero) he always had the capacity to be💛
Guardians 1: The guardians learning to love
Guardians 2: The guardians learning to accept love
Guardians 3: The guardians learning self-love through the love they have for each other
The thematics of Thor: Love and Thunder are really like
- when you feel lost, find yourself in the people you love
- lean on these people, especially in hard times (they'll bring you corn chips in chemo)
- atheism >>>>>
- you can read all the textbooks in the world and not understand what's inside
- throw the rulebook out the window (or shove a pencil through it) and LIVE
- communication is key
- scienceing is equal to thunder shenanigans in the arena of actual world-saving
- beat a dead horse? nah, how about beat a pair of live screaming goats
- children are the future, they are capable and just need you to believe in them and respect who they are
- CHOSEN NAMES ARE IMPORTANT, HONOR THEM (re: Axl & DOCTOR Jane Foster)
- the upper class couldn't care less about the classes below them beyond entertainment and sacrifice, not all gods are bad but to have privilege is to have potential to do bad
- the crimes of said upper class shouldn't be given power/headspace enough to inhibit the way you interact with the world and loved ones around you
- rocks = GAY
- revenge should be abandoned in favor of the person for whom it was enacted in the first place
- take responsibility for your late former nemesis' magic orphan and praise their hammer decorating skills over panflaps
- worthiness isn't defined by rank, race, or status, but by your actions, the quality of your hair extensions, and the goodwill of your heart
A spunky li'l villain inversion, brought to you by Taika Waititi:
Thanos: sacrifices his daughter for the sake of his Big Plan TM
Gorr: sacrifices his Big Plan for the sake of his daughter 😭

Did the visual of three Peter Parkers Spider-Manning it up on Lady Liberty nearly emotionally destroy me? Absolutely. But it was the musical acknowledgement of their three themes on the way (MCU!Peter's Michael Giacchino melody + chorals in the style of Danny Elfman's 2002 opening credits + the trumpet chorus reminiscent of Hans Zimmer's TASM theme) that finished the job.
Conspiracy theory: the beginning of No Way Home serves as a sneaky-yet-undeniable confirmation of the team-up to come: Peter's identity is revealed, he scoops up MJ, and they go on a wild ride through some of the other Spider-Mans' most significant locations: first, they stop on top of the Queensboro bridge, in view of the Roosevelt Island Tram car (see also: the time the Goblin tried to make Tobey!Spider-Man choose between saving his MJ and the "little children"), then, in an attempt to go under the radar, MCU!Peter swings his MJ through the subway (where Andrew!Peter tracked the Lizard and inadvertently revealed his identity via camera nametag), before emerging out of the street right outside of Delmar's sandwich shop, which MCU!Peter frequented and saved in Homecoming and which is right by the place Peter left Happy a voicemail about a lady and a churro. In this essay, I will-
