We all knew that John was awful, but the thing that perhaps struck me as the most appalling sick shit on top of all the other appalling sick shit he's done is this:

From the beginning I was slightly confused about why John consistently used A—, M— etc throughout the memories we see instead of the lyctors' full names, like we know who these people are, but I also thought okay, well they were all known to sign just their initials and use them as callsigns all the time, whatever right?

But when he talks about Ulysses and Titania he uses their full names in every instance except in this one, when he says U— and T— were their old names, before he renamed them to his liking, because he's a controlling deranged bastard like that.

And then it just hits you.

He's not using the lyctors' full names because those are their old names too. He has RENAMED his dead best friends who died protecting him. Every single one of them. They weren't around to say yes or no.

thinking once again about kiriona and it makes me so fucking sad bc not only she was rude to nona bc of all the shit and trauma she's been through which is fair but also bc she remembers it all that means she remembers when she was in harrows body fighting not to die not to kill harrow she remembers all the heralds all the shit that happened she remembers dying and not being able to say everything she wanted to her she remembers it all. seeing nona in harrows body reminds her once again that gideon is "alive" and conscious and harrow isn't seeing nona reminds her of failing harrow that's why she asked nona "where is she? is she in hell? I won't be mad I just wanna know where she is" she thinks that the decisions she made while in harrows body is what cause nona being in harrow's body and harrow's soul possibly being in hell so she doesn't want anything to do with that infant that impostor in harrows body bc what can gideon do abt it really she's not actually alive and free to go looking so in conclusion fuck jonh gaius it's all his fault anyway

personally, if i sacrificed myself for a girl who is both the love of my life and my worst enemy so she could live, and then i thought she had been so disgusted by my grand gesture that she ate my soul and then lobotomized herself to forget i did this, but i still had to lovingly take care of her body, and then i found out i was conceived as a weapon and my mom hated me and my dad was an evil all powerful emperor, and btw i was dead the whole time, 

and then my dad, INSTEAD OF BRINGING ME BACK TO LIFE JUST TRAPPED ME IN MY CORPSE and made a hole in my chest so he could put teeth around my heart and make me a weapon, because i am always a weapon and that is all i am good for, killing and dying, and also he disrespected my butchness to make me some flowery long haired prince-maiden and re-named me without asking me, and then i was instructed to lay a trap for the love of my fucking life (who tossed me aside, remember?)

and she does come for me! and she’s alive because she ate at least part of my soul and probs still has it! and i cannot help but look up at her beseechingly because she is the love of my life! and the first thing she does upon seeing my corpse is kiss me! and i am so shocked i go rigid and start shaking because oh my god, why would she do that, that doesn’t make any sense, but i love her and she came for me, and i have to betray her! and then i find out it’s not even her because there’s some rando driving her body…

i would be pretty fucking mean. like i’m sorry but at no point would i be handling all of this well.
