the third's understanding of MONEY is... indifferent. mora is but an inquisitive matter. a symbol of morax's will for thousands, no, hundred thousands of people. they work, steal, kill, waste their existence away for it. yet, for her, it fails to be more than a luminous coin. nevertheless, her divine self has seen what the world provides for those who can AFFORD it, and that, the regrator could do.

the delicate lace is worn like a blindfold, and the angel's eyes are shut behind it. nothing to see on this wooden table standing like a wall. between the two harbingers — despite their unspoken & mutual animosity, lie a sardonic string of kindred mannerisms. a shared TASTE regarding tea, perhaps. delicate, gloved hands lower the teacup, "my, what harm could a FAIR MAIDEN like myself do to a business such as yours?" cerise lips crawl into a grin. her eyes flutter open as an invitation for an affaire d'honneur of will and intransigence.

"worry not, i do not wish to intervene with your commerce. let us talk business."

Trudging through the darkness of the Snezhnayan taiga, Aether found himself blisteringly cold. The sky above swirled with snow and the trees stood like skeletal silhouettes against a sky ENTRENCHED in darkness with the coming of nightfall. The forest air was steeped in an eerie silence that lingered like the scent of blood; a kind of uncanny tranquility that conveyed a warning in its petrifaction, like that of a carcass laid out and cautioning of a PREDATOR in the vicinity of its unlucky witness.

In truth, he’d known of Her presence for a good while now. She’d manifested some time ago like a spectre stalking him from the shadows, a haunted whisper on the breeze, conveying a muted quality to his surroundings that seemed to HUSH even the sound of his footsteps and make his heartbeat pound relentlessly in his ears.

Her voice rang out through the darkness, RESONANT like the sound of shattering glass. Aether STILLED, unease pricking at his spine like the point of a blade. He could feel the figurative jaws of the trap inching shut. His fingers curled around the hilt of his blade on instinct; flexing once, twice, then tightening in a measure of conviction.

“ Who are you? ” His voice was cool and calm, his tone tempered and unreadable. “ Show yourself. ”

A HUNTER need not hunt merely for survival. for hunters as skilled as Her, it is the thrill and control that drives them. a lone man going about a dark forest in these parts of snezhnaya is a prey with a death wish, one deserving of NO mercy at that. and COLUMBINA happens to be an exceptional hunter.

the tree branch she's sitting atop stands tall, a perfect spot to watch as this FOOL walks right in the palm of her hands. "you must want very much to die. you look like a trapped animal." her tone is disgustingly carpeted with mockery.

rosy lips whistle an ancient melody, and it is soft as a lullaby, tangling into a harmony with the cruel wind warning this golden traveler to run.

OR, to fight for his life.

the angel REAPER descends right behind him, bare hands and no mask, cluthing her SCYTHE with a belittling smile on her face. "my identity is no use, for you, traveler, are dead." and the next attack is treacherously abrupt, alas, columbina was never an honorable fighter. the scythe and sword clash with a screech, and it all sounds like a hymn to columbina.

As if recent antics haven't proven otherwise. His words are less about being genuine and more about the fact that they call attention to everything on the contrary. He supposes he should take her decision to wait for permission as something to be grateful for.

She's just going to stand there until he lets her in, isn't she? Of that he is quite certain.

A glass vial is carefully slotted into the metal vial rack and he turns in full to face her, hands crossed over his chest. He says nothing for a long second before he lifts a hand, waving it as if to downplay the reality of his own words. " Stop dawdling there. If you're going to come in, COME IN so the doors can shut. "

gratitude is NOT something to express in columbina's mind. there is simply no reason for it, if anything, it is something expressed to her. for this once alone, the dove will ignore the blatant disrespect to her beloved nap spot presence gracing this otherwise damned laboratory. no longer an empty gaze but a GLARE towards the doctor, and columbina steps inside. while she is silent, it is her eyes that are cursing the entirety of dottore's existence.

"perhaps i have." rancor drips from her rouged lips, "and perhaps you need a new interest, might i suggest... chivalry?" a couple stolen nuts and fruits CANNOT be this formidable. she could just inquire the regrator to replace them from her salary. for once, she was not even the mastermind of this heinous plan of SUSTENANCE THEFT.

an ironic smile graces her face as she makes her way to the tall one. perhaps she had more witty comebacks for him, but they are abandoned for the vial rack behind him. SADLY for columbina, the doctor's affairs are always a mystery she loves indulging. otherwise who would even be patient to abide that irritating attitude of his? huffing, a laced hand pushes the figure standing before her to the side. "and what would this curious substance be?"

the faint glow of the glass vial has the angel thinking whether it would make a good lamp for her chambers or not.

the final finals week is slowly approaching, i will try to keep up with asks & headcanons but they might be a bit slow for these two weeks. i will reply to some asks & threads tonight and queue some, then possibly move to a semi-hiatus state as i study for those upcoming finals BUT DON'T WORRY i am not going anywhere this time <3

i will prepare a longer backstory post for my dear dove, but while it is in the works, i want to give a small brief on some important things about my portrayal. long post below the cut!

001. columbina is meant to be a villainess. she will be nothing like the canon columbina, she has never been. she is emotionally distant even when she pretends she isn't.

002. her lore used to be even MORE detached from the genshin lore, however i tweaked it a bit with the newly acquired knowledge from the game lore for easier understanding for those who are not familiar with the way i used to portray her. this applies mostly to side characters & names used.

003. everything she says and does is fake. she lives behind a facade EVEN if she is being nice to the person she is talking to. she is somewhat friendly with dottore, merely due to her curiosity for “worldly” things, science being one of them. this would only change by plotting, so if you want to establish a connection with columbina i highly encourage you to talk to me via discord!

004. another work in progress is her relationship with other members of the fatui. she does not care for most members. that could change with some plotting between muns but her initial attitude towards them will always be sarcastic & cold. she wants in on the tea parties though.

005. having said that, the tsaritsa deserves her own section. in my portrayal, columbina did not decide to be a harbinger by herself. still, she stayed after hearing her purpose is the same as hers. she does not 100% trust her, or like her. but she respects her greatly. as a harbinger, she may be hostile and cruel. but as an angel, all she knows is to be loyal. and loyal she is, to the tsaritsa this time. still, she ended up betraying her faith.

006. she is a biblically accurate angel at her core. she is a horror genre character before a fantasy genre. her biblical form is somewhat human, she has eyes peeking out of her whole body, she glows blindingly and she will only speak the language of the angels in that form. she floats at a very high speed. dottore, tsaritsa and pierro are the only ones who have seen this form. a visual example of this form is available per request, i might post it later with the tags needed, i know some people get spooked by such material. like eyes, eldritch horror etc.

007. in my portrayal, she WAS experimented on by dottore before her awakening. it is an important factor of her character development. she does not like that she was the subject to various experiments BUT she did accept this fact as she thinks they will be useful with her vengeance. she believes dottore has proven his competence within the science field. she somewhat trusts him.

008. survivor’s & religious guilt take a good toll on her, to be explained later.

just like a mourning dove on a quiet winter morning, columbina is seated on the stone railing of her majesty's balcony. long winter coat discarded somewhere inside rather disgracefully, her ribbons she adorned over her body wet with the snowy blanket covering her unconventional seat. the snezhnayan blizzards are harsh on her skin, perhaps they must have taken after her majesty. nonetheless, the cold does not bother her.

"i'm afraid you are mistaken, her majesty." her empty eyes gaze up at the sky, and she huffs indifferently, "my gaze to the heavens is but a cursing one, not to be confused with a longing gaze. "

gracefully off the railing, she is making her way back inside. her veil collects some snow off the ground, following her like a python approaching her prey. her regular, laced mask nowhere to be found, and columbina feels seen. she is not fond of this feeling. she shall endure it, out of respect. "should you ask for a song from me, you shall receive." her steps halt in front of the queen's glorious throne.

"this one is very dear to me, so listen closely."

columbina need not raise her head to see the boy at her door. the sound of water droplets hitting on her marble floor is enough of a messenger to who is shivering at her doorstep like a wet puppy. OR his shivering. "stay right where you are. i will NOT have you dripping all over my chambers." her voice saccharine, she reaches out to her perfume — one, two sprays, and she's finally off her vanity, heels knocking on the floor like a warning for what is yet to come.

"are you ready to BEHAVE now?" she snarls at the traveler, "or should i have my dear subordinates BURY you in the snow this time?" and she is smiling. that sweet, sarcastic, terrifying smile of hers. voice like honey. eyes faintly glowing behind the lacy mask. nobody, NOBODY messes with columbina's darling pets.
