Definitely looks better with capitols!!!!
So today I’m uploading some more panels from my (hopefully!) soon to be released webcomic! Hope you enjoy these and thanks for stopping by!
Don’t run with sharp objects!
How to dismount an armed Jurchen warrior.
1. Possess super human speed and agility.
2. Be a kung fu master.
3. Be a Samurai master.
In this picture I have my Jurchen warrior using a Jiu jie bian (nine section chain whip), but I made it considerably longer (artistic license, heh heh)! Who knows? Maybe they had longer ones too!
Jurchen assassin vs. the Indonesian gung-fu/samurai! Kyuwel!!
Concept sketch for Count Therasimund, the arch nemesis.
First draft of the title age. Here’s how it looks with all lower case.
So, this is my first attempt at a real live comic. I’m learning as I go so I’m pretty naive as far as graphics software and web comics in general. Why do I want to make a web comic if I don’t know anything about them? Well, its always been a dream of mine, but I put it away for decades. But computers are making everything so easy nowadays, I figured, no more excuses! So, I wrote my story, designed my characters, and am now in the process of adapting it to graphic novel form, i.e. rewriting it! Holy shit, its a lot of work!!! But I am loving it. The penciling alone took me months. I’ve never inked before, so that was another major hurdle. But once I scanned in my pencils and started working in the computer, I was so pleased with the results from the digital pen, now there’s no stopping me! The coloring was another can of worms I was afraid to open, but again, thanks to some Youtube tutorials, I’m up and running! I’m going for a look that’s somewhere between a classic comic feel and animation cels, which I adore. When I was young, Ralph Bakshi made a screen adaption of The Lord Of The Rings and I was mesmerized by the colors. That was really the first sword and sorcery animation to hit the big screen, unless you count Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and Robin Hood, which is really not the same thing. Anyway, I digress. In January, it will be one year since I put pen to tablet and began drawing the pages and I’m up to page 34 now. I still have a lot to learn, like lettering! =p
But look out for The Prince Of The Astral Kingdom on Tumblr in 2016!
Here’s a finished page I did with Manga Studio 5 and a Wacom Intuos tablet. Pretty happy with the way it turned out!
Sneak attack? I don’t think so.
