In the past 6 months I moved states and had to sell my old car because it was becoming increasingly difficult to drive safely. I saved up enough money for a private sale second hand car that I bought from a mechanic, but unfortunately, it was sold with several undisclosed issues: the sensors on the dashboard were not working properly and there was a massive oil leak and problem with the EVAP system. This combined and led to my car stalling out on the highway on my birthday as I was coming home from work. I paid a mechanic to come by the next morning and look at it, where he claimed to have it in drivable condition, but the car stalled out again and now, no longer cranks. I had another mechanic come by and he told me I was likely looking at an engine replacement, radiator repair, and more. I had to pay for tows due to both stall outs, and I need to pay for ubers until I have enough for another car, this time a down-payment from a reputable dealer. Unfortunately, this already puts my finances under immense strain. My workplace also finally hired someone for a shift that had been short staffed, so now I will probably get 8-16 hours less a week than I have been getting for the past month. The amount here is calculated to cover all of next month's transportation cost and enough in addition to my savings and projected income to get a down-payment. If this goal is met in the next two months, I will be in the clear regarding my finances, which unfortunately means time is of the essence! Any additional money- so, for example, if when I've moved next month the bus is more accessible and I can rely on uber less- will go to the car down-payment or otherwise br updated and marked on the fundraiser.
The amount here has the amount I have currently raised subtracted from it. You can still donate through other platforms like kofi and cashapp, as there is a back end way for me to adjust the amount raised/goal accordingly. GFM has the first goal set to 1000, after which it will show the current full remaining amount of 2373 USD. These goals are long term rather than the short term ones I've been posting about.
