The Revelation Space Collection by Alastair Reynolds — Volume 1 & 2
My love for the Revelation Space trilogy by Alastair Reynolds didn't happen at first read. Read the Romanian translation, the easiest version to get at the time, and some parts in the second and especially the third novel felt never-ending. Buy Reynolds kept on sticking the landing. I finished every book with a sense of wonder and a heart full of emotions. I'm glad I read it, very very glad indeed. Two weeks ago, I found these novella collections (in the original English, no less), in the Sci-fi section of a local bookshop and my fondness of the original trilogy activated like a sleeper agent. I wasn't sure I needed them, though. But yesterday I went back, saw they were still there and grabbed both. Galiana, I think of you so often. I can't wait to know you better.

Everyday feels like the same day.
Lately, August has felt like the end of the year. Maybe it's because I've spend my whole life in schools and won't stop any time soon, forever bound to an end that comes in June and a beginning that comes in September. It's helped a little by the heat that encroaches the city every year, this paralyzing heat, this heat that fogs the sky and makes me feel like walking through a dream. August, a month long liminal space. I'm buying a bottle a champagne to pop on the first of September, my new year's day.
