She dropped a hint earlier talking about how she isn't just eating for just herself anymore and then the food thing and he actually caught on a lot faster than she thought because he's such a worrywart and it makes her giggle a bit at that.

" Yes, my love. Or. Its the other thing. I had it confirmed with a physician today, but I didn't want to drop it on you in the middle of everything, which is another reason for the flower barrage. " She held his face with an excited grin.

" Sorryyyyy. Do you forgive me for waiting? " She tilts her head and its so clear she'd not sorry she's too happy right now for anything bad to affect her!

Zuko’s breath hitched. His golden eyes widened, his usually composed face completely shattered by pure shock, then overwhelming joy.

For a second… he didn't move, he didn't blink, he just stared at her as if she had just revealed to him the most beautiful miracle of all.

Then he dropped everything. The document fell to the ground with a dull thud. He stood up and picked her up, hugging her tightly. He buried his face in her neck and took a deep breath: a mixture of tears, laughter, disbelief… everything exploded simultaneously from deep inside him.

When he finally pulled away, just slightly, tears were streaming down both his cheeks… even the one with the scar. He was so happy he still couldn't believe… a child.

"A baby?" His voice cracked on those two syllables: rare vulnerability shone through every word. "Are we…? You're… pregnant?"

He looked dazed but radiant. He asked her several times to be completely sure he wasn't dreaming. His tear-filled eyes remained fixed on hers, with a big smile on his face. "My love.... You- you are not joking, are you?"

Carabella's cheeks flared with heat at how calm and kind the Fire Lord was being towards her. It was embarrassing that she'd gotten so panicked and flustered at his presence, while he remained calm.

“I-I’m not hurt, Your Majesty. Just a bit startled is all...and a little embarrassed," she admitted. "I can assure you I won't flail around like that tonight," she hurried to promise him. She really didn't want the Fire Lord to come away from this encounter expecting something less than spectacular because of her initial reaction to him watching her. "But if you want to make sure everything is running properly, wouldn't it be better to go check in with the troupe master?"

Zuko tilted his head slightly, considering her suggestion. "The troupe master?" He asked, not immediately recognizing the title, though he knew that performers usually had someone in charge of organizing it.

He rubbed his chin thoughtfully before shaking his head slightly. "There's no need to disturb and I don't want to interrupt the preparations while they're still setting up."

His face fixed on hers, he continued, "And besides, sometimes I'd like to do it myself. I want the best for my people. Anyway, I'm leaving now. I've already taken up so much of your time. Take care of yourself, young lady. I'll come and see the show."

Fortunately for him the admission had a positive effect it seems.

"Ha ha, could you try explaining that to my counselors? I jest, I jest! They keep me on track even when things exhaust me," he says with a hearty laugh.

It seems Zuko understands the weight of being a leader himself. But that was a sacrifice they made, wasn't it? Someone had to do it. In a world full of a lot of corrupt leaders, it was all the more reason for the good ones to make personal sacrifices.

"Finally someone who gets it!"

It was rare he got to speak to someone like this, only the other Arbiter-Generals really understood or could be privy to this sort of thing back home.

"On a related note, might I ask what a 'Fire Lord' does, exactly? We have no title like that in the Xianzhou."

Zuko leaned back slightly in his chair, his tea almost finished. The question made him hesitate, but he gladly explained it to the General.

"Fire Lord," he began, choosing his words carefully, "is both a title and a responsibility. It is a figure who embodies the very identity of the nation and the symbolic meaning of fire."

With a light gesture, he indicated with one hand the palace behind them, the vast city below that they could not see from there, but whose presence they sensed.

"I am the ruler of the Fire Nation… which means I lead our military forces when necessary, but more importantly, I make laws to maintain peace between the nations… I decide on trade agreements… I ensure fair distribution of food during times of drought… and I ensure the prosperity of my people."

He explained to the best of his ability, wanting to emphasize what it meant to be the Fire Lord. Then, after a moment of silence, he asked: "Is there no ruler in your kingdom? Or do you generals give the orders?"

She melted into his touch completely, just as she'd always done. Heart aflutter, especially at the little kiss atop her head. Didn't matter how long they'd been apart, she still belonged to him just as much as she had before.

She offered him a warm smile, and simply nodded, reaching a hand out to take ahold of his. She wasn't quite sure where they would be headed, but she knew that she'd allow him to lead her anywhere. "Of course. Just lead the way~"

Zuko intertwined his fingers with hers, feeling the softness of her hand in his. He squeezed her gently before lifting their joined hands to place a small kiss on the back of her hand.

The gesture was tender, something he hadn't done since he'd been more openly affectionate with someone… except her, though. But now that she was back… he wanted to rediscover every little detail that made her feel loved.

Shortly after, he walked towards the exit of the palace gardens, leading her by the hand. The path led through quiet courtyards, where few people were milling about at that late hour of the evening: ideal for those seeking a bit of privacy.

He knew exactly where he wanted to take her: a small, secluded restaurant on a hill just outside the city walls, with an incredible view of the Fire Nation ocean coast at sunset…

The place belonged to him, and he only used it on certain evenings when he wanted to be alone… or spend time with his uncle. And now it was her turn: just the two of them for a truly romantic dinner. "Here we are, my dear. I hope you enjoy the view," he said, still holding her hand but letting her go ahead to look around.

                 This  could  go  very  terribly  wrong ,  especially  since  this  was  their  first  intimate  night  together  &  while  he  had  been  doing  a  good  job ,  the  thought  of  just  laying  there  &  taking  it  for  however  much  longer  this  was  to  go  on  for .  No  pillow  princess  here !  This  was  going  to  be  a  give  &  take  relationship  in  every  sense  of  the  world .

                 Who  needs  vision  when  she  could  experience  everything  in  other  ways .  Sound .  Touch .  Scent .  Taste .  They  opened  up  everything  in  a  way  vision  could  never .  Once  Toph  was  centered  enough  &  she  knew  Zuko  wasn't  going  to  attempt  to  tip  her  over  again  ( at  least  not  right  now ) ,  with  a  toss  of  the  hair  to  get  it  out  of  her  face ,  they  began  together  against .  Instead  of  the  steady ,  deep  impalement  from  the  other  below ,  Toph  instead  allowed  her  hips  to  do  most  of  the  movement .  They  rolled  sensually ,  pulling  zuko  in  certain  directions  &  having  him  grace  her  inner  chambers  with  fluent  movement .  The  goal  being  just  to  rub  her  from  the  inside  &  for  him  to  be  squeezed ,  massaged  &  kissed  upon .

                 With  each  movement  of  her  hips ,  pulling  him  deeper  &  brushing  against  her  inner  sanctum ,  Toph's  eyes  would  roll  just  a  bit .  Hands  found  themselves  a  bit  restless  as  well  &  while  one  looked  to  keep  her  steady  by  laying  flat  against  his  abdomen ,  the  other  slid  up  her  neck  &  went  up  the  back  of  her  hair ;  darkened  tresses  rose  up  making  even  more  of  a  mess  while  said  hand  rested  on  the  crown  of  her  head ,  gripping  it  a  bit .  With  that ,  Toph  shifted  gears  &  began  to  raise  herself ,  letting  gravity  take  over  &  bring  her  back  down  onto  him .  Gasps  &  moans  pooling  out  of  her  with  each  self  inflicted  impalement .

                 Something  this  good  shouldn't  be  this  accessible .  Desperation  cause  motions  to  increase .  It  was  slow  to  start  but  with  each  &  every  jolt  through  her  body ,  Toph's  need  to  continuously  feel  Zuko  was  beginning  to  win  against  her  resolve  to  drag  it  out  &  take  her  time .  It  came  to  a  head  as  his  hardness  brushed  against  her  in  a  way  hat  took  the  earthbender  by  surprise .  There  was  a  slight  scream  of  surprise  but  it  wasn't  enough  to  break  her  movements .  The  hand  that  rested  at  the  top  of  her  hand  dropped  down  &  instead  gripped  his  thigh  behind  her  tightly .  The  other  hand  joined  to  hold  the  other  thigh  which  kept  her  sturdy  enough  to  really  rise  &  fall  upon  him ;  her  head  fell  back ,  hair  tickling  his  legs  as  she  became  lost  in  this  again .  Panting ,  moaning ,  whining .  His  sang  his  name  while  pleading  for  resolution .  There  was  no  telling  how  much  longer  she  could  take ,  but  dying  this  way  wasn't  all  that  bad  either .

Zuko was completely lost in her rhythm.

Every movement of her hips sent electric shocks through his body… a pleasure so intense it bordered on pain. She wasn’t gentle anymore; she was pushing him against the mattress, taking from him exactly what she wanted with an insatiable hunger.

And Agni… he loved it.

His hands gripped her thighs tightly, his knuckles white as he tried to keep his feet on the ground, but there was no way he could stay grounded. Every jolt made him sink further into that suffocating heat, every contraction along his body tore a strangled moan from his throat.

His voice, a moan between breaths, was pure music. He never thought he'd hear her say his name like that: desperate, breathless, full of desire just for him.

He instinctively arched his torso as she lowered herself with particular force, at the perfect angle, and suddenly a primal growl escaped him before he could suppress it. The sound was low and possessive, as his hands pressed hard against her hips, guiding their movements even closer…

They were sweating now… their skin damp from the effort and passion under the moonlight that flooded the room…

He was on the verge of orgasm… she couldn't hold back any longer. His erection throbbed, intensifying the pleasure. But to avoid surprises, he tried to speak to her… warning her, between moans of pleasure and small tremors: "T-Toph… I… I'm almost there…"

Damn, he hadn't had time before; with one final, decisive thrust, he began to fill her with his seed… intensely.

He growled in pleasure as the orgasm washed over him, hoping she felt the same pleasure.

Now that nothing could possibly tear them apart she'd been especially loving without worrying about what's going to happen between them or if he'd leave... he is staying right here she can tell without him even saying it. He looked comfortable and happy and she loved that.

" I know. " Still, hearing that put a prideful smile on her face. It felt good to do good by the people who needed it the most. She wants to do that for him too! She pouts when he said his day is long wanting to fix it fast but the follow-up brightens her expression. " I'm glad but tell me if there is anything else I can do to help alleviate any stress my love. "

He's doing that for her now. Her eyes shut comfortably, and her body relaxes even further against his as his hand moves about her body but once he stops on her stomach, her smile returns and she gently laces their fingers together on top. " Of course. I have to take care of more than just myself now. Not that I have a choice. " She sighs.

" I've been feeling like a void. Food goes in and I don't feel any fuller. " She shakes her head and laughs.

Zuko's expression darkened slightly at her words, and his protective instincts instantly awakened.

He finally put the document down, stopping pretending to work. His focus was completely focused on her.

Without saying a word, he lifted their intertwined hands from her belly to give her a light caress and then pressed them gently against it again, warm and firm. “You’re eating…” he said softly, a concern veiled by a sweet, calm seriousness. “But you don't feel full….”

Many thoughts crowded his mind… fueling his concern for her. Was she sick? What had happen?

"Mai…" His voice dropped lower than usual, a tone reserved only for moments like these, when something serious could happen. "Are you on your period or…" he couldn't get the other word out… yet.

Zuko's cheeks flushed slightly at her remark… especially at the line about warming up to her. She was perceptive and had caught the rare excitement in his voice. He feel abit embarassed and stroked the back of his neck.

He coughed and tried to compose himself. "Ehm… Yes," he admitted with a small nod, "I like flying. It’s relaxing." Then, seeing her reaction to his mention of the dragon, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

His expression softened further when she asked if she could see it. The dragon was one of his most precious companions… and he rarely brought others with him.

"I think so… I can show you," he said after a short pause, before standing and offering her his hand to help her up as well, smiling warmly. "Come with me."

𓍯 ִֶָ notes the flush of sun on his cheeks with undiluted delight, smile small but insolent and cheeky that holds back a chuckle she's keeping to herself. "so it's a yes ..." muses, tapping her fingers against her knees. he's different from his appearance, softer than ariel expected and it's a nice contrast but she'll tell him that another time. now she's too excited to see this dragon he spoke of, trying to picture the images she's seen in books and all the ways humans in sardinia always imagined them to be myths or ... well, like mermaids.

she happily takes his hand, giving it a bouncy squeeze without realizing with a focus in her mind of flying this dragon of his. letting her hand fall back at her side ariel nods and follows zuko, humming a mermaid tune. "are dragons normal to see around here ?" canted head as the thought occurs to her, making a point to peruse the skies though sees nothing but clouds.

Zuko walked ahead of her, leading her across an open space, perfect for landing a large animal without… crashing into the trees.

"Most… died during the Hundred Year War. Only two survived, and… let's just say I was lucky enough to receive their egg as a gift." He tried to explain, not wanting to go into details… yet.

When he stopped, he motioned for her to take a few steps back… just to be safe. Then he put two fingers in his mouth and whistled. It was a soft sound, but clearly audible even from far away. A unique sound… that only his dragon could understand.

A shadow appeared from the clouds in the sky until the supposed dragon descended with great speed, landing hard in the open field… it was obvious that the dragon was young.

The dragon was large, ruby ​​red in color, with large wings that flapped excitedly at the sight of its master.

Zuko raised his arms as he approached his companion to pet it. "Hey Druk. Meet Ariel… a friend of mine."

She laughed softly, pretty content to be pulled even closer to his side. There was nowhere else she'd rather be than enveloped in the arms of the man she loved. "I'm glad you asked, you know? I know we're just starting over, but it feels a little like old times. I'm still just as comfortable around you now as I was when we first started dating. Is that a little strange to say?" She wondered, looking up at him from where her head was currently situated.

Zuko looked down at her, his golden eyes sparkled with excitement. There was something so comforting about seeing her so… relaxed, smiling… happy. It made him feel warm in his chest.

When she asked him if it was strange, he didn't think it was strange at all. In fact… he felt exactly the same way.

His thumb moved lightly on her shoulder, a small caress, and then, without thinking, he leaned down and softly kissed the top of her head. A gesture full of affection and gratitude, for being there with him again after everything they had been through separated for years.

"Okay, my love. Let's get going. This time I'll take you to a place that's not very popular, but it has a very… romantic view and the food is really good."

                 This  was  definitely  a  conversation  she  knew  the  other  would  like  to  avoid ,  not  because  there  was  no  good  there - - - just  the  amount  of  good  didn't  outweigh  the  amount  of  bad .  &  yet ,  if  they  were  to  make  this  work  between  them ,  then  there  would  need  to  be  some  sharing  going  on  between  them  ( &  not  just  saliva  &  other  bodily  fluids ) .  Toph  was  a  bit  impatient ;  that  will  be  a  downfall  one  day ,  either  with  him  or  with  someone  else .  Until  then ,  poking  a  bear  for  an  answer  was  just  the  way  to  go .  Don't  overpoke  though ,  she  was  quite  partial  to  her  finger .

                 However ,  instead  of  looking  to  interject  or  make  light  of  the  situation  to  cut  the  tension  in  half  for  both  their  sakes ,  toph  just  sat  there  &  listened .  She  listened  to  his  words ;  listened  to  the  pain  &  certain  inflections  as  the  story  unfolded .  It  does  make  one  wonder ,  if  the  home  life  was  different - - how  would  the  man  turn  out ?  Would  the  same  events  even  had  happened ?  There  were  too  many  what  ifs  &  there  was  no  way  to  know  for  certain .  The  man  here  now  is  all  that  mattered  in  the  long  run ;  he  made  it  to  the  end  of  the  finish  line .  He  should  be  proud  of  that .

                 ❝   Your  father  sounds  like  the  weak  one  from  my  perspective .  That's  a  weak  persons  mentality .  If  you're  already  strong  &  know  it ,  if  you're  already  confident ,  you  don't  need  to  prove  anything .  No  fan  fare ,  no  nothing .   ❞  Those  who  spoke  the  loudest  about  how  great  they  were  are  the  most  insecure .  Attack  that  part  of  them  &  they  tend  to  fold  like  a  paper  fan .  ❝   If  you  ask  me !  I  think  you're  leagues  better  than  your  dad  &  you'll  just  continue  to  be  greater .  I  mean ,  there  hasn't  been  anyone  trying  to  get  rid  of  you  yet - - - that's  gotta  count  for  something !   ❞

Zuko blinked once, slowly. A soft sigh escaped him, a feeling of relief wrapped in an enveloping warmth.

"…Thank you, my love," he said softly, looking at her affectionately.

His fingers absently brushed the scar. Her confidence had hit him harder than any battle cry, because she wasn't polite out of politeness… she meant every word clearly and ferociously… He was proud of it.

"But may I ask you why you wanted to know? Is it to distract me from something?" he asked, tilting his head to the side.

She much preferred this when he sat her in his lap, she was already smiling to herself even before he laid his head on her shoulder and turned her to mush! She quickly makes herself comfortable and has one arm wrapped around his neck at first.

She's gently stroking his cheek as he hides against her shoulder and buries her face in his hair, taking the scent of his hair oils, which always smelled good. She continues playing with his hair as he reads and then smiles and kisses him when he looks her way.

" My day was great. It was very active, though we went on a nature escape. I figured some hands-on learning could make the kids a little more excited about the world around them, and it worked out a lot, but they sure can be a handful sometimes. " She sighs with a look of mock frustration on her face, only to laugh when she gazes at Zuko again.

" What about yours? "

Zuko hummed contentedly under her kisses, each one sending a little spark that warmed him more and more.

He loved the way she stroked his hair, a gesture so simple yet capable of making him feel cared for in a way he could never have imagined. Her fingers were soft, loving… and her scent… ahh. He breathed in her scent deeply without thinking.

When she mentioned taking the children into nature to teach them something… his expression softened further with pride. She was an extraordinary teacher, patient but also strict when necessary.

“The children adore you,” he murmured against her neck before lifting his head slightly to meet her gaze after reading another line of the document.

“My day?… Long,” he admitted softly, his eyes half-closed, politics was exhausting these days, but then he quickly added, “But seeing you now makes up for it all.” He winked at her and continued reading.

As he continued, his hand gently caressed her back, up and down, even around her waist, resting for a second on her belly.

This distracted him for a moment, and he turned slightly to look at her and asked, "Have you been eating well lately?"

Hana slowly inhaled and exhaled, and could feel warmth rise from her toes to her fingertips. Closing her eyes, she kept her breathing pattern slow and steady.

She hummed for a moment as she could feel heat build. Being in a controlled, safe environment made her feel more at ease.

“Deep breath, inhale…and exhale.”

You’ll fail.

You’ll hurt someone.

You’ll ruin everything.

You’ll waste his time.

You are a waste.

Her heartbeat quickened as she recalled the comments, the stares, the glares, the threats, but tried to push it down.

While she was afraid of her power, she was more afraid of disappointing Zuko. She didn’t want his effort to be for nothing.

She had to make this work.

Zuko noticed something in her, so he approached and gently placed both his hands on her shoulders, to reassure her and let her know that she wasn't alone. He was there to help her, not to judge her.

"Hey, your body is tense…. That's okay… firebending doesn’t require instant perfection,” he added in a soft voice. "Breathe with me."

He began to inhale deeply through his nose… then exhaled slowly through his pursed lips, creating visible curls of hot, steam-like air. A relaxing rhythm, perfect for meditation.

He repeated it slowly three times before asking in a low voice, "Can you keep up with my rhythm? Don't worry if you can't. Just take it easy."

Hana blushed lightly at his words. Despite the massive gap in status, it seemed almost nonexistant now. It almost made her forget who she was speaking to.

Well, almost.

He was just, talking to her. Seeing her.

Saying that people mattered.

Her family mattered.

That she mattered.

“Still, how to start training..?”

She knew her bending was tied heavily to her emotions, and as is it was volatile to say the least. Was there really another way to handle her bending?

What can I do in return?

Zuko stood and stretched his arms, rolling his shoulders before turning fully toward her. "First," he said, "let's start slowly. No flames and pressure."

He took a few steps toward the outdoor training area, an empty courtyard surrounded by stone pillars with fireproof padding, and motioned for her to join him in the center.

He turned back to her. "Firebending isn't just about throwing fireballs… it's about discipline… control of your breath and emotions." He demonstrated by exhaling slowly through his nose, a controlled breath of warm air that made the nearby grass swell slightly with heat, but didn't burn anything.

"Try exhaling like this… focus on your inner self. Feel the energy in your body." His voice was patient, more reassuring than authoritative.
