AESTHETICS
Rules: Bold all that apply to your muse. Repost, don’t reblog.
JOHN KEATS. the lavender in sunsets, flowers in the rain, sunlight slipping through clouds, lazy summer afternoons, the heavy scent of musk, flickering candlelight reflecting off the gold titles of books, fireflies on a cool summer night, being wrapped in fresh bed sheets, the ache of wanting what you can never have, dripping sunlight like gold, loving someone so exquisite, soft lips and soft whispers, fingers through hair, names of lovers carved in trees, broken glass, the insistence of being perpetually dreamy.
F. SCOTT FITZGERALD. crisp winter skies with cold bright stars, mahogany wood, the solitude of an early autumn morning wrapped in fog, empty bottles on stacks and stacks of books haphazardly placed in a messy room, bruised arms reaching out into the darkness, cigarette smoke just barely hiding the scent of alcohol, a wall of books all poetry and old and weathered, a bad thunderstorm occurring at the end of a beautiful day, the way tragedy strikes in your heart but ends up stopping your breathing for a moment, your favorite sweater, parties spilling into four a.m. with the stars above spinning and dancing, the contrast of blood against snow, a purple split lip oozing blood, black eyes fading to blue to pale skin, the butterflies of falling in love for the first time, the statues falling apart over time in cemeteries, the romanticization of self-destruction.
FRANZ KAFKA. the weight of dread that sits heavily in your stomach when thinking about the future, decrepit houses cloaked in mystery from children telling stories of people who died there, the way not even light can escape a black hole, the rich smell of old books, delicate veins in the wrist, ghosts filling lungs, shattered bones, raindrops on the tongue, rusting metal, nostalgia that aches, the way hope feels like a plastic bag over your head.
H.P. LOVECRAFT. the anxiety felt when staring into an unknown cave, pouring rain and mud, a child’s fear of the dark, thinking so many questions about your existence as you stare at the vast expanse of never-ending ocean, the silence of three a.m., ouija boards and urban legends.
JACK KEROUAC. the brisk pine air of being on a mountain, travels without a destination, those nights where you’re missing three hours of memory, screaming to a lifeless desert about how you’re so alive, coffee shops late at night, car rides at night spent speeding and laughing in the dark, naps spent in the sun, novels highlighted and underlined with notes and epiphanies in the margins, the way uncertainty sits on the shoulders, ignoring flaws and loving life, wind through hair, depression as fog in the brain, impossible ideals, a quiet sunrise, walks alone, when you think about trying to discover all the secrets to the universe, dazzling people, open lands stretching out into infinity, falling in love with being alive.
EDGAR ALLAN POE. the ocean’s horizon inseparable from fog, hollow bones, a preserved heart held in hands, twinkling stars above an old graveyard, the way everything turns to dust, silent black birds with eyes full of wisdom, self-inflicted flames, perfection depicted as a rotting corpse, death as bricks in the heart, lips barely brushing against each other, glassy glazed eyes, biting into a lemon, heart-shaped bruises, rotting flowers on a grave, dried blood and spilled liquor, the hush of dusk when it begins raining, the intimacy of a secret.

BLACK SPOT. inej. — thirty-seven minutes, listen. for @druskeles
The Black Spot is a mark of death to a pirate. It was originally a proverbial term applied to a pirate who has a death mark by the authorities or other pirates for misdeeds he must pay for with his life.
–» Kaz hadn’t spoken, and perhaps that had been best for them both. They could continue on with their armor intact. She would have her ship and he would have his city. «–

41. Tea or coffee?
“Coffee,” she answered without much thought, “Tea’s alright if you want to be nice and calm, coffee is for the late nights and the high stakes. Much more exciting.”
“I agree, luv’. Nicer much of a tea person m'self.” She chuckled softly, keeping a keen eye on the other woman. “But I would still take sumthin’ stronger over that. Friend says I bleed hard liquor. Like ya’ said, luv’. Much more excitin’. How about ya’? Like the drink stiff or that watery ale?”
[ @helarjar ]
Olympia’s brows raised higher and higher the more Kat spoke. It had been a great many decades since she’d heard a Gilnean accent, let alone a thick one. It took the quel’dorei a moment to fully process all of Kat’s words, and while she cracked the code of regional accents, she shifted in her seat, studying the woman’s features, as to spot Gilneans in the future and prepare. “I’m obligated to say volatile rum,” she finally said with a smile. “But if I’m being honest, I need it mixed in with some fruity things. I’m a bit of a lightweight.”
{ @kat-hawke }
A deep hum rolled in the back of Kat’s throat as she leaned back on her seat, her amber gaze studying the elven woman’s features. “Close friend of mine also enjoys rum, to excess, though I’m no’ one to talk. M'drink of choice is whiskey howeva.” One hand rose to push raven locks behind her head, pulling them from her face, her nose wrinkled slightly at the mention of fruity alcoholic drinks. “Also have a close friend who’s a lightweight. How unfortunate. Guess that means we get to skip the part where we find out who can out drink the other.” A small smirk curled the corner of her lips.
[ @helarjar ]
Upon inspection, Olympia’s features were odd indeed. Weaved into her teal-colored braids were countless strands of seaweed and a few decorative shells, or pieces of shells. Towards some of the more covered parts of her body — the base of her scalp, her elbows, down her sides, barnacles clung to her. Odd choice in decoration.
“That’s fine,” she said with a devious smile, “It means we can just skip the icebreakers, right? Get right to robbing someone.” She laughed. That was probably a joke. “You got a name, dear?”

Judgment in Reverse: When has your character found it difficult to forgive themselves?
“What the hell are you two doing?”
“Captain!”
Olympia watched as the two girls, Anne and Maria, jumped. They were always so easy to scare, as all the new girls were. The twins instinctively moved closer to one another, huddling, as though their frail bodies could cover the shrine of candles they’d built. But through their bony frames, ones which hadn’t yet and never would recover from a lifetime of slavery, Olympia could see all too well just what they were hiding.
“What the fuck is that?” She nodded her head down to the little project they had built.
The twins looked towards one another with visible hesitation. Olympia stepped forward. Even ghostly as she was, the heels of her boots, the sound it made on stone, was enough to make the urchins scramble. She reached down, plucking a fat and mostly-melted candle off the stone.
“It’s a shrine to the Light,” Maria, the older of the two so she said, finally spoke up. “So we can pray to… To get out of here.”
Olympia’s gaze dragged from the candle and to Maria, then to her sister Anne. As most of the lost or unworthy spirits of the realm, they were small. Meek. Pale. While holding eye contact, Olympia dropped the candle into the water below her feet, and when the younger twin jumped out to retrieve her sign of hope, Olympia’s heel crushed the wax under the murkey water.
“Now you listen here,” she spat to the two, walking forward again and causing Anne to jump back to Maria’s side. They both flinched from the bite to her words. “Nothing and nobody is coming to save you, do you hear?”
“But when we were alive you said-”
“When we died, every promise I made died too.” Olympia reached down, grabbing the remaining candles and breaking them in her fingers before tossing them into the water, extinguishing what little light they offered. “Down here, you pray to nothing and nobody. Down here, you don’t survive out of luck or faith. You survive because you will rip the throat out of the fucker who looks at you wrong. Do you understand me?”
They nodded, but of course they didn’t understand. Olympia knew this, though her thoughts remained veiled under a sharp and cruel gaze. They were going to die their second death here, and for a moment Olympia considered delivering it to them. Best it come from someone they know than some Kvaldir looking to entertain himself for the afternoon.
She took another step closer and the girls flinched. She could see them trembling and twitching as they contemplated running. For once, they did exactly as they were meant to.
Girly who’s your Faceclaim? Just curious <3
(( My faceclaim is China Anne McClain, specifically from her role as Uma in the movie Descendants 2! ))

Did you just hiss at me? -Asked by a certain void elf @styxelda
A smile twitched at Olympia’s lips and they curled back to reveal a set of pearly teeth. “Should I?” She asked as her uncorrupted blue eyes darted over Styxelda’s face and body, taking note of the void-touched coloration. “You seem to have gotten yourself into a right mess. Why does this shit only happen to us, huh? You’d think trolls would wind up with the weird shit.”
