MidgardBound — Jormungandr of MCU and myth — indie, semi-selective, multiverse
the-silver-son:
Loki nodded his agreement. “Truer words were never spoken.” With that, he fell silent once more and glanced down at his hands. The wheels in his mind were not only turning, they were spinning wildly out of control. “What now?” Where should we start? He is not sure if he is talking about Asgard and her rule or their relationship, but it hardly matters. Either option is equally shrouded for him and only Hela will be able to clear it.
Truthfully, even she didn’t know. This revelation had completely thrown her off. Still, she stayed quiet, trying to figure it out before she replied. “Continue on with the plan I suppose. Figure out the... other details later.” It was the easiest thing to do, and she’d already started it. Might as well be sure to finish it, see it through to the end. At least then when everything was said and done they could truly focus on the matters that were raised with this conversation.
the-silver-son:
Loki glanced over at her and sat up straight again. “Yes, of course. You have done nothing to make me think otherwise. It is not your fault that Odin locked you up for my entire childhood.” Which now seemed doubly cruel, given that the Allfather was keeping her away from her own child while he neglected and ignored Loki for so long. “At least you didn’t lie to me about it. I may not enjoy the realizations this is bringing, but I would rather know than go on in ignorance.”
That was fair, she had never really been given much of a chance to be a mother. She was glad she could at least tell him all the truths Odin had kept from him. “Better to know the harsh truth than be blinded by a kind lie.” She merely responded. That was how she’d always seen it anyway, when it came to important matters such as this. Maybe if Odin had followed those words, none of this would have happened. Well, then again she would of had to of been raised differently as well.
the-silver-son:
Not just a child of Laufey, but a bastard as well. Loki sighed and rested his elbows on his knees, then lowered his head into his hands. “Odin said I had been left out to die.” It was looking more and more likely. Laufey might not have left a viable heir to the mercy of war, but a bastard… it would have been in his favor to let it him die. Your birthright was to die. The Allfather’s words echoed in his mind. “I’ve got two decent mothers and not a single honorable father,” Loki observed dispassionately.
Of course that would be the one thing he chose not to lie about. Sighing again, her head shook some, not quite sure what else to say. Though, hearing his second statement, she blinked a little and finally looked back up at him. “Really, you think I’m decent?” Her tone was more amazed than anything else. She hadn’t even been there like she’d been planning on, and he still thought she was alright?
the-silver-son:
Loki followed her into the castle numbly. On instinct alone, he walked slightly to her right and a step and a half behind her, just as he once followed the Allfather. She walked with the confidence of both a queen and someone who at least as some idea where she is going, which he idly realized must mean something about the castle’s lack of changes, but the thought passed through without much attention at all. He stops when she takes a seat in a room he hardly noticed entering. After a brief fumble while his mind caught up with the situation, he sank down next to her.
Taking a deep breath, her hands rested in her lap. Head facing his direction, but her eyes looked off to the side. “Laufey and I only really ever had a, professional relationship. I knew what Odin was planning on doing, his wanting to lock me away, so in exchange for helping Jotunheim I was allowed to hide among them.” She paused, now looking downwards. “One thing led to another, and soon enough you were born on... That night, that... Very eventful night.” She sighed. “I was exhausted, not at my full strength. I told him, I told Laufey to hide you, before I was caught. Thinking back on it, how quick he seemed to turn me over, I should have realized he wouldn’t do as I asked.”
A grrruff was given at her exclamation, a roll of the eyes which looked q u i t e amusing upon the face of a wolf, he supposed. " I care little for others, they are tiny and weak and they're n o t h i n g like you or Jor. "
Another laugh left her. “Well, I can’t say you’re wrong about that, but you know Mama and Papa will get mad if you hurt someone.” One hand stayed up as she kept petting him, enjoying the feel of his fur while her other settled beside her.
" Sister! " howled the wolf, rushing forward before finally enveloping her into a well... what one could call a h u g of sorts.
A laugh left her as her brother gave her his own version of an embrace. She’d stumbled some, given how fast he’d been running, but she wasn’t hurt. Fingers running through the fur on either side of his head, she smiled. “Fen please, you gotta be careful. Not everyone is as resilient as I am you know.”
midgardouroboros:
He chuckled, knowing it was true. “She scolded him too, but since I’m more dangerous she scolded me more.” He wasn’t being entirely truthful but still he thought he was more dangerous than their big brother.
“Sounds about right, yeah.” A chuckle of her own left her, hand lowering to rest in her lap now. “Still, she does have a point, you both gotta start remembering how dangerous you can be, especially since you’re still growing.”
midgardouroboros:
“I almost bit Fenrir during a play fight,” he replied, laying his head against the rest of his body. “Mother scolded me for it. I didn’t mean to, I know it could kill him.”
A soft snort left her, suppressing a full on laugh. “Yeah, you need to watch that.” She teased, amused despite what could have happened. “Though, to be fair Fenrir could cause the same with one of his bites.” Minus the poison obviously.
adarkenedshadeofblue:
“ Am I ever so glad for that… “
“After hearing the stories, yeah I can understand why.”
midgardouroboros:
Jormungandr shifted to help ease her hand along his scales, more than happy to stay on his sister’s neck for awhile. “Hello, Hel.” He responded, looking up at her.
Moving to sit down, being mindful of him of course, she relaxed as she continued to idly pet him. “What’ve you been up to today?” She asked, smiling as she looked at him.
adarkenedshadeofblue:
“ M u c h better, I’m not complaining. “
“I don’t know why you seemed so worried about it, we’re not like you and Uncle Thor.”
adarkenedshadeofblue replied to your post: midgardouroboros: The young serpent had climbed...
loki seeing his children interact cause him to have a lot of feels
“What? Better than us arguing I’m sure.”
The young serpent had climbed up the other’s body and was currently wrapped around their neck, prodding the underside of their chin with his tongue.
Hel giggled softly, feeling her brother. “Hello Jor.” She spoke, reaching up with a couple fingers to gently pet him, going with his scales of course.
the-silver-son:
A broken laugh clawed its way from Loki’s chest and he hoped belatedly that it came across properly: a disbelieving laugh at the situation, not at her. “That makes two of us.” He fell silent again, but this time it was in order to do what he could to pack this all away for the moment. There would be time to ponder the changes this news brought to every aspect of him. Now was not that time. “I want to know more. Should we go, um…” He motioned toward the castle he grew up in. Ruled in. Now served his own mother new queen in. The need for information burned at him and his chest felt tight as he drew breath. “Should we go inside?”
“I certainly owe you that much.” She replied, giving a nod as she turned to go inside at his suggestion. Part of her wanted to go right to the throne, but later. Now wasn’t the time for that, there’d be plenty time later. Other than some of the decor, it was nice to see not much had changed. It made things easier to navigate. Finding one of the drawing rooms, she stepped inside and found a place to sit, waiting for Loki to join her. She was glad she’d been thinking of where to start, it made things easier.
the-silver-son:
It took a few seconds for her words to sink in and in them Loki just stared blankly at Hela. Then, once the words fully hit him, he opened his mouth to say… say what? What in all the Nine could he say to that? He closed his mouth again and glanced away as he tried desperately to processes this new information. Perhaps the worst part was that it made perfect sense, as he looked back. Odin raised his… grandson, then, alongside his own son, but always feared that he would become as dangerous as his parents. Grandson. Fuck. Thor is not his brother, but his uncle, and Frigga is his grandmother, and… “This is too much,” he finally admitted, his voice weak and soft.
Well, at least he hadn’t lashed out. Or more so, he hadn’t done so yet. She stayed silent a long while, even after he spoke. She could only imagine it was. Her gaze aimed downwards, she finally found something to say. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think would happen.” It wasn’t much she could offer, but if he wanted an explanation, she was already working on one in her mind. So much had spiraled out of control, she hated it. It seemed like nothing she had planned on had worked, other than escaping once Odin died.
