do you mind sharing your mac and cheese recipe? looked delish! thanks :) x
Sure! I just boil whatever root veggies I have on hand (sweet potato, potato, pumpkin or a combination of the three) until soft, then drain. Blend with a tsp of dijon mustard, a clove of garlic or garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and HEAPS of nutritional yeast. Use either water or your fave plant based milk (or both) to blend until it’s a nice smooth consistency.
Easy! Enjoy x

Lvl.1 Chef: State of the Kitchen Address
Hello!
First and foremost I wanted to thank you for your patience. I’ve received several questions regarding my whereabouts, plans for the blog, and even safety in general. I really appreciate your concerns and apologize for ducking out of the picture for so long.
The truth is I was indeed planning to take a short break after a year of updates and hitting 2500 followers (still doesn’t seem real!) The short break turned into a long hiatus when some unfortunate events occurred in my personal life and I was left not really feeling up to doing recipes for a while. However, I’m not here to give you excuses. I wanted to assure you that I’m back, and that I’m leveled up! (ugh that’s so corny…)
Welcome to Lvl.1 Chef SEASON 2!!!
Or, that’s what I’m considering it at least. I’ve taken some time to reflect on everything I’ve done up to this point (heretofore referred to as “Season 1″) and decided which things I liked and which things needed improvement. I’ve also thought a lot about expanding my work beyond just tumblr and what that might entail. Real talk: I’d like to make this endeavor more of a focus in my life, but financial demands and the large amount of time I spend at my actual job are a little preventative at the moment. Rest assured, I’m still going to try.
A real blog?
Don’t worry, I won’t be getting rid of this one, but I am interested in trying to put together something a little more professional. It’ll have the same caliber of recipe walkthroughs you’ve come to expect from me in addition to some other features:
Fan recipes! - I’ll be trying out recipes written by some nerdy food contemporaries and seeing how they turn out!
Videos! - I know I kind of flubbed it in the past (it’s harder than it looks!) but I’ll being trying to put out one recipe video a month starting with some of my favorite recipes from season 1.
Top 5s! - Short and fun lists ranking everything from grossest video game consumables to the top 5 frying pans in games!
Game reviews? - More like mechanics reviews rather than the whole game, but if it’s got a cooking/food/craft mechanic in it, I’m gonna check it out for you!
Grinding EXP - Articles about specific cooking and baking skills so you can level up too! (ugh.. STILL corny..)
Lvl.1 Chef learned Social Media!
Figured I’d also try some more social media venues to reach people outside of tumblr. Feel free to follow me on them as well if you’re so inclined!

“I don’t care about all this, where are the recipes!?”
I’m planning on launching new content starting July 1st. I’ll be trying for 3 new recipes a month like before. Here are a few of the games I’ll be making recipes from!
Kirby’s Dream Land
EarthBound
Bravely Second: End Layer
Parappa the Rapper
Pokémon
The World Ends With You
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Stardew Valley
Thank You!
Again, thank you to everyone for your understanding and support as I try to make Season 2 bigger and better than before. It seems like a big undertaking, but I’m confident I can make it happen; I’ll even have some help this time around! As always, feel free to ask me any questions you might have. I’ll be updating throughout the month to try and build hype for July so I definitely won’t be a stranger!
In closing, I wanted to share a video by one of my favorite YouTubers, yungtown. It’s a song about not giving up and pursuing your passion no matter what’s going on in the world around you. It helped me find the confidence I needed to start this up again so I figured I’d pay it forward for those who might be experiencing their own creative struggles. Now let’s get cooking!
