— Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited
Blow negative thoughts every day, to make room for all the beautiful things that life gives you every day.
Looking at all of Magneto's kids, I feel like Quicksilver's the only one that got unlucky power wise. Like his twin can rewrite reality and have various other magics depending on the plot while his older sister is just a counterpart of her father's. But Pietro? He just runs really fast. And even then it's shown he's outclassed compared to any of the Flashes in the DCU.
yeah for reals. Pietro definitely got the short end of things in the power department compared to his siblings. Likewise his nephew, Tommy, whose powers are just a pinch compared to those possessed by his brother, Billy.
Ostensively, super speed powers should be a lot more formidable, such is the case with The Flash, but you’re correct that super speed is a bigger deal over in the DU Universe.
Perhaps if Quicksilver could quit being his own worst enemy he might prove a much more able to take full advantage of the upper limits of his power-set…
then again, extreme powers hasn’t exactly done Wanda any favors in terms of having a happy life. Lorna seems the most well-adjusted of the lot.

May 13th - Magneto
Known by many names, Erik Lehnsherr is a powerful Mutant who has been willing to go to any extreme to protect his species as Magneto, the master of magnetism.
Born in Nuremberg, Germany to a middle class Jewish family, Erik and his family fled to Warsaw during the rise of the third reich. Erik was ultimately arrested and sent to the concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland. The young man witnessed and endured countless atrocities while imprisoned in Auschwitz and was the only member of his extended family to survive this senseless holocaust.
Following the war, young Erik discovered he possess the abilities generate and control magnetic fields. These powers came from Erik’s being a Mutant. Furthermore, his abilities led to him being feared and hated by much of the human world. I this coupled with his experiences during the holocaust caused Erik to entirely lose faith in mankind and he dedicated himself to creating a world in which Mutants would become the dominant species on Earth, lording over all inferior species. To this end he renamed himself ‘Magneto’ and began to accrue loyal acolytes among likeminded Mutants.
Seeking to subjugate humanity by brute force, Magneto found himself in direct conflict with his one time friend and ally, Professor Charles Xavier, as well as Xavier’s new team, the X-Men (Mutants who shared a dream of peaceful coexistence with humanity). This would lead to numerous battles between Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants (often referred to as the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants) and The X-Men. Magneto additionally faced off against other heroes, including The Sub-Mariner, The Inhumans and The Fantastic Four.
Following subsequent confrontations with The X-Men, Magneto aided his former rivals in battling the threat posed by the villainous Reverend Stryker. It would prove the first of many instances where Magneto and the X-Men’s interests co-aligned; Magneto was even placed alongside The X-Men by the Beyonder during the Secret Wars event. Magneto ultimately became a member of The X-Men, although there would be numerous instances where their interests would deviate, leading to conflict.
His reputation as an inspirational figurehead among Mutantkind resulted in Magneto being named the leader of the Mutant nation of Genosha; and he was presumed killed when Genosha was destroyed. He resurfaced some time later and rejoined the X-Men. His presence acted to accelerate the growing philosophical divide among the X-Men, culminating in a schism wherein half the X-Men left to pursue a more extreme, militant agenda in their efforts to safeguard Mutantkind. Magneto sided with this faction under the leadership of Cyclops.
Earlier in his life, Magneto had a torrid romance with a Romani woman named Magda. Following Magda’s tragic death, Magneto was led to believe that she had bore him twin children and these children were actually the former members of his Mutant brotherhood known as Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch. Magneto has had a tumultuous, often strained relationship with his son and daughter. Years later he would learn that they were not actually his children and was only manipulated into believing so by the devious High Evolutionary.
Magneto’s actual daughter is the X-man known as Polaris, who possesses similar powers to her father. Polaris was the result of a brief affair Magneto had years ago with a young woman; he and his daughter have only learned of their connection more recently and the two have since become close with one another.
With the advent of the Nation of Krakoa, Magneto has rejoined Professor Xavier, ending their long-time to help establish and govern the fledgling Mutant nation.
Versions of Magneto have appeared in the Fox Films’ X-Men movies, portrayed by actors Michael Fassbender and Sir Ian McKellen. Magneto first appeared in X-Men Vol. 1 #1 (1963).
No words. The character is amazing.
Might as well get this out of the way too but Magneto & Wanda had since reconciled their whole relationship. Pretty much stating despite not being blood related he still views her as his daughter & always will.....doesn't really have the same conversation with Quicksilver, but f*** him right?
A parental relationship certainly does not require blood relation. And I imagine were Pietro more fully interested in reconciling, Magneto would likely be open to doing so.
My 2nd favorite comic book villain and my favorite Marvel Comics villain.
I KNOW HOW MY FILTHY MUTANT ABILITIES UPSET YOU, SCHMIDT. DON’T WORRY–
–YOU WILL DIE PURE. NO MAGNETISM
JUST FISTS.
reblog Magneto punching a Nazi
you won’t get anything for it, except for a kickass photoset of Magneto punching a Nazi on your blog
YES! YOU FEEL THAT SKULL! THAT IS THE FIST OF EVERY SINGLE JEW YOU AND YOUR NAZI KIND TRIED TO EXTERMINATE! AND IT’S SATISFYING BECAUSE AS BAD AS MAGNETO IS, HE WILL NEVER BE THE MONSTER THAT YOU ARE!

May 14th - Crystal
Crystalia Amaquelin is an Inhuman, possessing an engineered genetic makeup that can produce super powers when exposed to the rare mineral known as Terrigen. She grew up in the hidden and secluded Inhuman citadel of Attilan and is the daughter of influential aristocrats in the royal court.
Crystalia (or ‘Crystal’ as she is more often called) was exposed to the Terrigen Mists during her late childhood. The ritual of Terrigenesis woke her dormant powers and she gained the ability to exert temporary control of the four base elements of earth, wind, fire, and air. This enabled her to create controlled bursts of flame, powerful gusts of wind, send forward a directed torrent of rock and dirt, and manipulate water into spinning spouts. Although it took Crystal a great deal of training to better master these abilities, hers have proven to be one of the more impressive power-sets among the Inhumans, leading Crystal to become highly respected and popular among her people. Her status increased further when her older sister, Medusa, became bequeath to the crown prince.
Despite her status and privilege, Crystal yearned for adventure and to explore the broader world outside of the confines of Attilan.
A scheme orchestrated by the prince’s jealous brother, Maximus, resulted in a successful coup were upon Crystal and the other member of the royal family were banished from Attilan. Crystal’s sister had gone missing and, under the influence of amnesia, had fallen in with the human criminal, The Wizard. Aided by the teleportation abilities of Lockjaw, Crystal and the others went in search of Medusa and it was during this time that Crystal first met young Johnny Storm (the Human Torch of The Fantastic Four).
There was an instant connection between the two powerful teens and a romance quickly blossomed between Crystal and Johnny. The Fantastic Four traveled back to Attilan and assisted Prince Black Bolt in regaining the throne from his brother. Following further adventures, Crystal decided to return with Johnny to the human world and she joined the ranks of the Fantastic Four, taking over for Sue Storm during her maternity leave. Crystal proved to be a valued member of the FF and her quick thinking and elemental powers saved the day on many an occasion.
Sadly, Crystal and Johnny’s romance began to dwindle. They grew apart and Crystal eventually left Johnny, returning to Attilan. Some time later, Crystal came across the Mutant and one-time Avenger known as Quicksilver. Quicksilver had been injured in a battle with a sentinel and Crystal brought him back to Attilan to recuperate. During Quicksilver’s convalescence, he and Crystal fell in love with one another. They were married and together had a daughter whom they named Luna.
Crystal would go on to serve alongside her husband among The Avengers. Unfortunately, the pair fell out of love with one another and they frequently bickered. Eventually, the two separated with Crystal maintaining primary custody of their daughter.
In the wake of the War of Kings event, Black Bolt was seated as the ruler of the Kree Empire and Crystal was married to Ronan The Accuser as a gesture to ease the concerns of the Kree populace. Although their marriage was strictly a political maneuver, Crystal and Ronan soon grew quite fond of each other, a fondness that quickly turned to love. Unfortunately, Black Bolt had to relinquish the throne so to ensure that The Kree would not invade earth and Crystal was heartbroken when her marriage to Ronan was annulled.
In the wake of the Infinity event and the detonation of the Terrigen Bomb, it was discovered that the newly formed Terrigen Cloud was poisonous to Mutants. Crystal was placed in control of a mobile fortress that helped evacuate Mutants in the path of the cloud. The threat this cloud posed to Mutants led to the X-Men/Inhuman War and the ultimate destruction of the Terrigen. In the wake of these events, Crystal set out on a mission to survey the cosmos in search of new forms of Terrigen.
Actress Isabelle Cornish portrayed Crystal in the short-lived ABC television series, Marvel’s The Inhumans. The heroine first appeared in the pages of Fantastic Four Vol. 1 #45 (1965).
Very Underrated character and honestly the only Johnny Storm love interest I approve of.
What to do if your book’s too big: an alignment chart
I’m filled with violent rage
A rant: I don't know if you've heard, but Marvel will launch an event this summer that will pit the Mutants against the Eternals. I'm so tired of: 1. Marvel pitting all their franchises against the X-Men all the time. 2. The x-fans being called toxic or having to read "Fuck the x-men fans" for complaining about these stupid plots and conflicts. All this keeps me away from other titles and characters.
yeah, I did hear about this X-Men/Eternals conflict coming up. Cannot say I'm surprised... recycling plots has been endemic at the 'House of Ideas' for quite a while now.
I just hope that whomever is tapped to write this event brings more passion to it than Charles Soule did when he wrote X-men versus Inhumans... because it was obvious he had no interest in writing that story... which was clearly evident in the dryness of the plot and dialogue.
X-Men versus Inhumans did nothing to drum up interest in The Inhumans and augment readership. If Marvel is interested in drumming up interest in Eternals then I don't know why they would turn to a stratagem that had failed so miserably in the past.
Still. you're not going to be able to squeeze too much sympathy from me. The X-Men have like a dozen titles published monthly, some of which are actually pretty good. So you'll still have plenty to read even if you choose to forgo any X-Men versus Eternals versus Fantastic Four versus Avengers mishegoss.
I don't think X-Men fans are toxic.
I miss the days where everybody just got along at Marvel. And now we don’t have any Inhumans. Which is sad because I love Black Bolt and Medusa.

February 1st - Moon Girl
Lunella Lafayette is a brilliant youngster who lives with her mother and father on the lower Eat side of Manhattan. Despite her uncanny, genius-level intellect, Lunella was denied admission to the prestigious Future Foundation school. Instead, she has been forced to endure the often-boring and unchallenging scholastic environment of PS20. At school, Lunella was frequently teased by her peers and has earned the nickname ‘Moon Girl’ due to her pertinacity to daydream and appear to be lost in space.
Unknown to her parents and classmates, Lunella had built a secret laboratory in an abandoned subterranean sewer station. Through her research, Luna discovered that she possess the Inhuman gene that would cause her to go through Terrigenesis were she exposed to the Terrigen Cloud. Lunella very much did not want to become an Inhuman and she became obsessed with ascertaining a means of preventing her inhuman transformation.
To this end, Lunella located the Kree artifact known as The Omniwave Projector, a powerful weapon that can generate portals through time and space. Before she could utilize the device to attain her goals, one of her teachers tried to take the device away from her believing it to be a toy. In doing so, the projector accidentally activated, creating a portal that connected the present with the distant past of a parallel earth (Earth 78411).
Doing so released a group of neanderthal-like raiders called The Killing Folk as well as The heroic creature known as Devil Dinosaur. All matter of chaos ensued as the Lower East Side was suddenly besieged by marauding cavemen and a giant red tyrannosaurus. The Killer Folk chased after Lunella, identifying that she possessed the Omniwave Projector. Devil Dinosaur interceded, grabbing Lunella by the strap of her backpack and running off.
Although Luella was initially frightened by Devil Dinosaur, she quickly came to realize that he was not a threat and was actually a gentle-hearted creature who had protected her from the violent cavemen. Not long thereafter, The Totally Awesome Hulk (Amadeus Cho) arrived on the scene to apprehend Devil Dinosaur, viewing the crimson creature as a threat to public safety.
The Hulk bested Devil Dinosaur and the creature was taken away. Lunella enacted a successful plan to rescue her dinosaur pal and in the mayhem that followed the escape was photographed by a local journalist and ended up front page news in the next day’s newspaper. The headline referred to Lunella as ‘Moon Girl’ (likely because she was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of the moon on it).
Lunella and Devil Dinosaur were finally able to defeat The Killer Folk and send them back to their original realm, yet the victory came at a cost. Lunella had been monitoring the movement of The Terrigen Cloud. Her tracking allowed her to secure herself in a specialized, hermetically sealed chamber so to prevent exposure. In her haste to finally deal with the Killer Folk, Lunella neglected to keep track on the T-cloud’s whereabouts and it just so happened that the cloud had drifting over the eastern seaborne and come to lower Manhattan.
Exposed to the Terrigen, Lunella began the transformation was encased in a Terrigenic cocoon. Devil Dinosaur found the cocoon and brought it to Lunella’s secret layer, dolefully watching over it as though it were his egg. Lunella emerged from the cocoon several days later to discover that her transformation had provided no noticeable physical alterations.
Weeks later, Lunalla’s Inhuman powers finally manifested and she found that she and Devil Dinoaur could transfer consciousnesses, where her mind became in control of the red dinosaur’s body and vice versa. These transferences lasted anywhere between minutes to hours and led to all manner of hi jinx and mayhem. With practice, Lunella gained a greater mastery of utilizing those times where her consciousness is trapped in Devil Dinosaur’s body. She would go on to have numerous adventures, repelling the Kree forces led by Kid Kree’s father, saving the original Moon Boy, reuniting Ego the Living Planet with his estranged satellite daughter, Girl Moon, aiding Kid Kaiji during the Monsters Unleashed event and building the Terrigen nullifying device that saved Mutantkind and ended the Inhumans/X-Men War.
According to Amadeus Cho’s assessment, Lunealla could very well be the most intelligent being on earth. The young heroine first appeared in the pages of Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur #1 (2015).
I’ve only meet Moon Girl today and if anything happened to her I would kill everyone in this room and myself as well.

January 14th - Sunspot
Roberto Da Costa is the son of Brazilian millionaire Emmanuel Da Costa and his American wife Nina. A Mutant, Roberto first manifested his superhuman powers when, at the age of fourteen, he was playing in a soccer match in Rio de Janeiro. Motivated by racial hatred, a boy named Keller and another member of the opposing team knocked Da Costa to the ground. The hot-tempered Da Costa retaliated by tackling Keller, who began brutally beating Roberto. suddenly Roberto’s body and clothing temporarily turned jet black as his form absorbed huge amounts of solar radiation. It bestowed him super human strength and durability. Not realizing his own strength, Roberto inadvertently hurled Keller across the field. Confused and frightened, Roberto sought help, but both the other players and most of the spectators panicked and fled.
Agents of Donald Pierce’s faction of The Hellfire Club sought out Roberto to murder him yet he was saved by the intervention of Professor Charles Xavier. Professor X offered Roberto a place at his school for gifted youngsters and he accepted, becoming a founding member of ‘The New Mutants,’ a training sub-group of The X-Men.
Taking the alias ‘Sunspot,’ Roberto would go on to have numerous adventures alongside The New Mutants, making lifelong friends among his teammates. Sunspot’s enhanced strength came from absorbing solar radiation and he came to better understand and control these powers; although he continued to struggle with his temper. Roberto worried that his anger would end up hurting those he cared for and this led him to temporarily leave the New Mutants, falling in with the oddball Mutant team called The Fallen Angels. He would later return to The New Mutants yet left the squad once more after the death of his father whereupon Roberto joined the mysterious figure known as Gideon to run the DeCasta business empire.
It turned out this Gideon was a super powered being known as an External; and that it was he who was actually responsible for the elder DeCasta’s death. Gideon performed experiments of Roberto that increased his capacity for solar absorption by an exponential degree.
The time-traveling Mutant known as Cable transformed the old New Mutant team into the first iteration of X-Force and together they defeated Gideon, saving Roberto from his clutches. With his heightened powers, Roberto could now fly and generate solar powered force blasts from his hands. He continued on as a member of X-Force for many adventures.
Roberto would later return to a reformed version of The New Mutants and some time thereafter, he and his fellow New Mutant, Cannonball were recruited as members of The Avengers.
Having regained control of his family fortune, Roberto ended up purchasing the research and development firm called Advanced Ideas Mechanics (or A.I.M.) which he then used to help create the governmental task-force known as The USAvengers. During this time Roberto contracted the Terrigen based disease known as the M-Pox. The condition caused his powers surge out of control, threatening his life. He was forced to wear a retainer device that prevented him from detonating like giant solar flare whist also keeping the M-Pox at bay. He ended up removing this device during he War of Realms event, sacrificing himself in an enormous explosion in order to defeat a horde of Frost Giants.
Roberto was later resurrected on the Isle of Krakoa and has remained a citizen of the Mutant Nation.
Actor Adam Canto portrayed a version of the character in the Fox Films movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past; whereas actor Henry Zaga played Sunspot in The New Mutants Movie. The hero first appeared in Marvel Graphic Novel #4: The New Mutants (1982).
This character is underrated and I’m glad you gave him the spotlight.
365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
January 13th - Sersi
Sersi is an Eternal, a member of a powerful race of beings created by the Celestials millions of years ago. The Celestials had seeded Earth, as they had with countless other worlds, with the potential for its population to develop and evolve into greater life forms. And the Eternals were stationed on Earth to guide humankind and defend the fledgling species from the Celestials’ earlier experiment, the violent monsters known as The Deviants.
Like her fellow Eternals, Sersi possesses the ability to transmute matter. This makes her immortal and enables Sersi to alter the shape and quality of any substance or being; it additionally bestows her the powers of flight, enhanced strength, energy projection, telepathy and illusion casting. Furthermore, Sersi can regenerate from any injury and can even be reincarnated in full were she to fall in battle. Sersi’s abilities for matter transmutation is far greater than any of her fellow Eternals
Sersi has lived among the humans for centuries, fulfilling her duties as an Eternal as well as having as much fun as she can playing the role of protector, goddess, sorceress and countless other positions of power, luxury and influence. She encountered numerous heroes and figures of history and lore, including Odysseus, Attila the Hun, Cicero, King Arthur, Thor Odinson, Queen Elizabeth I and Thomas Chatterton.
Sersi would later relocate to the United States, becoming a renown socialite hosting lavish parties at her Manhattan mansion. She eventually revealed herself as an Eternal during the arrival of The Celestial’s Fourth Host. During this time she joined the rest of The Eternals in battle against Kro and The Deviants of Lamuria. A truce was eventually reached which led The Celestial’s to suspend their judgement of Earth’s worthiness to continue to exist.
Sersi would later join the ranks of The Avengers and had a number of adventures alongside earth’s mightiest heroes. During this time, Sersi entered into a romantic relationship with her fellow Avenger, The Black Knight; an affair that led to both heroes leaving the team and having an excursion in the parallel reality of the Ultraverse. Sersi ultimately returned to the 616 Universe and some time thereafter took on the new codename of ‘Mesmer’ as part of an effort on the part of The Eternals to come across as a more traditional group of super heroes.
Sersi and the other Eternals lost their memories of the true identities and Sersi believed herself to be a regular human with a burgeoning career as a party planner in New York City. Eventually, the other Eternals discovered that Sprite was responsible for rewriting everyone’s lives. Ikaris and others tried to make Sersi remember her past, yet she was reluctant to return to her previous life and tried instead to continue on living as a regular human.
This retirement from Eternal business proved short lived as Sersi rekindled her old romance with Makkari and once more became involved with the team. Makkari had become the conduit connecting The Dreaming Celestial with mankind. This shared connection with the Dreaming Celestial was gradually overwhelming Makkari’s mind and sense of self. Sersi attempted to free Makkari from the Dreaming Celestial yet learned that this connection as well as Sersi’s connection to Makkari were all essential in protecting the earth from the destructive cosmic entity known as The Horde. Finally defeating this Horde appeared to cost all of The Eternals their lives without the capacity of resurrection. And yet Sersi and the Eternals would eventually return thanks to Phastos’ reengineering the resurrection machine. Unfortunately this process also acted to resurrect Thanos and Sersi and the other Eternals have continued to battle The Mad Titan.
Sersi has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayed by actress Gemma Chan. The character first appeared in the pages of Venus #9 (1950).
Interesting how in the Marvel Universe Cersei is a hero while in the DCU she is a villain.
365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
January 1st - The Human Torch / Jim Hammond
The first hero to go by the name of The Human Torch has been a highly sophisticated android who was created by Professor Phineas T. Horton. Although working in the late 1930’s, Horton’s skills in the fields of robots and artificial intelligence were unfathomably advanced. The scientist created an android who mimicked virtually all of the functions of a human being, including independent thought, but was composed entirely of synthetic materials. The one flaw in the android’s design concerned the photoelectric solar cells (dubbed ‘Horton Cells’) which covered every centimeter of the automaton’s body and served as his power source. The cells were too volatile and caused the epidermis of the android to burst into flame upon contact with oxygen (yet did not harm the android itself).
The newspapers dubbed the being ‘The Human Torch’ and an apprehensive public labeled the android a menace, forcing Professor Horton to bury him in a vacuum sealed tube. The Torch eventually escaped this prison and went on to aide a police officer in foiling the plans of a group of mobsters. He discovered that the Horton Cells enabled him to fly and fire bolts of plasmic energy. He would go on to take on the secret alter ego of Jim Hammond, a dedicated officer of the New York police department, often becoming The Human Torch to take on villains who were too powerful for the authorities.
The Human Torch would have a number of tremendous battles against the Atlantian Prince Namor, The Sub-Mariner. The two would enter into a truce brokered by the police woman, Betty Dean. Not long thereafter, The Torch and Namor joined forces to thwart a plot by the Axis Forces to arrange a preemptive strike against The United States. A short time later, The Torch and Namor teamed up with Captain America, becoming ‘The Invaders,’ a group of heroes who fought for the Allies throughout The Second World War.
Following the war, The Torch felt he was no longer needed and decided to place himself in suspension pod until he could once more be of service. It was believed for a time that the villainous Ultron had obtained The Torch’s body and used it in the creation of his agent, The Vision, but it was later revealed that Ultron had actually used one of Professor Horton’s other projects, an android called ‘Adam One.’
Many years later, The villain known as The Mad Thinker revived The Human Torch as part of a plot to pit him against his enemies The Fantastic Four. When The Torch refused to use deadly force against the heroes, The Thinker deactivated him and the android was more rendered dormant. He was revived again several years later and became an active member of The West Coast Avengers.
The Jim Hammond version of The Human Torch first appeared in the pages of Marvel Comics #1 (1939).
Perfect way to begin the new year than with the first superhero to premiere in the Marvel Universe.
No it's canon that Jim killed Hitler. Basically in both What If? #4 & "Saga of the Original Human Torch" Jim & Toro were sent to Berlin to apprehend Hitler for the US when the Russians were Invading. They found him in his Bunker but Hitler opted to just kill everyone with explosives around the base leaving Jim no choice but to torch him, His dying words to his guard to let "his" people know he committed suicide.
That story seems to have permanently stick for Jim's history since some of the New X-men even asked him if that was true & it was shown again in the recent "History of The Marvel Universe".
lol... canon..
Does it really matter how this asshole died?
