Stu Macher Is DEAD!!

Hello yet again, "Scream" fans of Tumblr. It's time for another one of my opinions/rants. This is probably a super unpopular opinion but I also feel like the "Scream" fandom is equally split on it. Something that kind of bothers me is the fact that so many people in the fandom want him to return but I'm very against it for many reasons, personally. This post is basically just to get my opinion and feelings off my chest. A small declaimer before I start: I do not hate Stu. I actually love him and all Ghostfaces, for that matter. If you ask me, they're the best part of the movies and each one is great in their own way. Okay...let's get started. Why is Stu Macher dead? The original plan for "Scream 3" was to bring Stu back and be the mastermind behind a cult of Ghotfaces people hold on to the hope that he's still alive just because he was going to be for a very specific movie. Plans get scrapped and changed so this shouldn't be used to support him returning now. With that being said, the writer/director has confirmed his death. In the commentary with Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson for the first movie, one of them states "here's someone saying I'll be right back which mean he's going to be dead but he doesn't know he's actually one of the killers...but he does die at the end." You think this would be enough but apparently not.

Randy even exclaims in "Scream 2" that "Stu was a pussy ass wet rag..." He talks about him in past tense because he's dead. On top of that, NO ONE within the movies stops to think "oh, the Ghostface killings are starting again? Do you think...it could be Stu?" No mention of him possibly being alive at all and that's the first thing that should've come up in Sidney, Randy, Dewey and Gale's minds. However, people like to theorize that he faked his death and is in hiding but (respectfully) that is the dumbest piece of fucking shit accuse to bring someone back to a franchise just to please fans. You think THE Gale Weathers wouldn't know all of this? That Dewey wouldn't have been keeping close eyes on this case for Sidney's sake? The fact that Wes made three movies after this and made no mention of Stu possible being alive is proof enough that he is died with the original script for "Scream 3."

I don't even know how he would still be alive given he was bleeding out and said he thought he was dying from when Billy stabbed him. On top of that, he used the rest of his strength to try and take Sidney down. Then having a giant TV not only crush your head but electrocute you as you bleed out? Crazy that people still think he's alive.

All that aside, a reason I don't think his return would work is because they waited waaaaay too long. Could it have worked for "Scream 3?" Maybe. I still think it would've been a little lame given the lack of hints he survived in "Scream 2." However, if it was going to happen, the second or third movie would've been the time to do it. SO much time has passed with no talk around it within the movies that it makes literally zero sense to do it now. They dodged a bullet bringing him back for "Scream 3," honestly. Besides, if he survived that means Ethan survived and I know a bunch of you old school fans wouldn't want that. I feel like that was basically even the new writers/directors confirming that Stu is dead. They only hinted he could be alive because they wanted to watch you squirm. I know this because instead of officially naming the fifth film "Scream 5," "Scream V" or even "5cream" they chose to name it "Scream" then continuing to name their following movie "Scream VI." They loved to piss the fans off. It also got people to watch the film because for the past two movies everyone was so certain he would come back.

At this point, the only reason to bring him back is for fan service. Bringing back a past killer defeats the purpose of these movies and if you're sick of that, why are you still here? One of the main reasons I love these movies is because you never know who it could be and it's ALWAYS someone new. Bringing him back automatically confirms he's alive and a killer (or at least has something to do with it) and it's someone I've already seen do all this before. It would be boring. This fandom's always complaining about how all the killers are so obvious, how predictable the movies are and how they're always trying to carry the movies with nostalgia because they can't move on from the original yet...you want a killer from the first movie to come back and be super obvious? Make it make sense.

With all of that being said, I feel I need to say this again: I do not hate Stu Macher. I love Stu, I love Matthew. He did amazing in this role and that's another reason why he needs to stay dead. Sometimes you just need to let things be. Bringing a perfectly good thing back when it does not need to be brought back often ruins it. He left on a good note so lets keep it that way. LET MY MAN REST IN PEACE.

Who Was The Best Ghostface?

Ranking all Ghostface killers from the "Scream" movies in order of who was the best at being Ghostface, in my opinion. Taking into account a few factors; who had the better motives, how much they contributed to the attacks/killings, how far they got in their plan and how well they executed it and possibly some other factors. Some might outweigh the others but I'll try to explain my thoughts as best I can. So let's get started. 13. Jason Carvey: while his motive was fine, it wasn't one of the better ones. It was just a continuation of Amber and Richie's pretty much. However, since he was one of the opening kills it makes sense why they wouldn't waste a good motive on him and Greg. The fact he was found out and killed so quickly proves he's the worst Ghostface so far though.

12. Richie Kirsch: this really depends on how you watch and analyze "Scream V" but from my point of view, Richie didn't kill anyone. The only confirmed attacks to be him were Sam and Mindy which both failed. The directors have already said in interviews that he barley did any of the work and Sam even mentions in "Scream VI" that "he made his girlfriend do all the killing." Like many fans of the franchise, you may be thinking "how could she possibly know that?" It's not that hard to figure out when for most of the movie/attacks Richie was with Sam or close by and with Gale's investigation instincts she could've easily found out where Amber and Richie were most of the time. Example: going to the hotel Richie was at and asking when he arrived there and if he left would help figure out if he actually participated in the killing of Judy and Wes. He basically let someone much younger than him do all the dirty work and pull the strings while thinking he was in charge the whole time. It would've been different if he betrayed her in the end like a couple of other who made it higher on this list but he never even got the chance. His motive was good though but not good enough to save him from being this low on my list.

11. Stu Macher: okay, I know this is going to piss people off because he's one of the originals and a fan favorite so everyone hold him up on a pedestal along with Billy but again, like Richie, I guess it really depends on how you view the movie. Stu does the least amount of work and on top of all that he makes the mistake of trusting his partner and by doing so is almost killed and betrayed by him. Roman even mentions in "Scream 3" that he suggested Billy get a partner to frame in case he's caught. I have no doubt in my mind if they were successful that Stu would've ended up dead or in jail anyway.

10. Quinn Bailey: she was a pretty decent Ghostface but honestly, I don't know how far she would've gotten if her father wasn't a detective or helping her. Faking her death was smart because not only does it take her off the suspect list but it allows her to do kills while her father and brother get alibis but again, without her father being a detective it would've made it much harder executing her fake death so because of that she still pretty low on my list but higher then they others because she actually did a decent amount of the dirty work and wasn't betrayed by her partners. Although it's widely disliked in this fandom, I actually liked their motive and the fact that it was a family seeking revenge, not just a parent or sibling.

9. Ethan Landry: I decided to put Ethan a place higher than his sister because he seemed more aggressive and willing to me. He killed Quinn's hookup and then proceeded to take on three people (Sam, Mindy and Anika) at once and wounding two of them and then killing one of them. While not factual, I think he would have made it further without his father's help than Quinn did because while Wayne was the brains behind it I feel like he didn't help Ethan quite as much as Quinn.

8. Wayne Bailey: since he was the mastermind and brains behind these attacks I think it's fair to place him above his kids. Being a detective put him at a higher advantage as well. Not only was he an aggressive Ghostface but I think his plan was well thought through and executed fairly well and as already mentioned, I actually really like their motive even if it's just another version of Nancy's motive from "Scream 2."

7. Billy Loomis: his motive was to kill Maureen because she was sleeping his his father causing his mother to abandoned them. Which would've been okay if it stopped there but he kept going. It would've made sense if he tortured Sidney while Maureen was still alive. Since she's dead, what's the point? Sidney didn't do anything. At this point their just doing it for fun, I guess? Which is fine, I guess. I can look past that. What puts him kind of low on my list is that he and Stu start stabbing each other to paint themselves as victims before they kill Sidney and Neil. He was carrying out his plan pretty well before that. He killed Maureen, framed Cotton and got away with it for a whole year which is why I let him be a little higher on my list than I originally wanted him to be.

6. Charlie Walker: this is another one that kind of depends on how you view and analyze the movie but in my opinion, Charlie kills everyone in "Scream 4" besides Trevor. With that, he's already a great Ghostface but what knocks him down to seventh place for me is that he was so blinded by his infatuation for Jill that he trusted her to wound him instead of doing it himself, leading to her betraying him and ultimately resulting to his death.

5. Mickey Altieri: I'm putting Mickey right before Charlie because they're situations are very similar. While Nancy helped Mickey more than Jill helped Charlie, I think Mickey still did most of the dirty work but mostly because he wanted to since it's implied he was already a serial killer prior to the event of "Scream 2." Like Charlie he was betrayed by his partner but unlike Charlie it wasn't due to him being blinded by love or anything like that. It was rather sudden and caught him off guard. Ultimately, trusting a stranger and it leading to him being betrayed and almost murdered instead of staying on guard and killing her first loses him points. Plus, his motive was stupid and I didn't like it at all.

4. Nancy Loomis: her motive is rather simple but it's one of the better ones: good old fashioned revenge. She was also smart enough to get someone on the inside (Mickey) because she obviously couldn't been seen by Sidney. She was also partnered with someone who was already a serial killer so it was smart of her to kill him before he could turn on her. Plus, his motive would've more than likely fucked her over which she was very much aware of.

3. Amber Freeman: as I already mentioned when talking about Richie, I believe Amber did all the killing (or at the very least, most.) The directors/writes have basically confirmed in on and off screen that she was the mastermind but let Richie believe he was in charge and did most of the work. She wasn't manipulated into doing the killing, she wanted to and you can see that with how excited she gets after her reveal. She was the one who informed Richie Sam was the daughter of Billy Loomis and she more than likely told him to take Tara's inhaler because the spare one was at her house and she knew Tara would have to go there to get it (Richie literally says "I can't believe this worked" as if he doubted Amber.) Amber also killed a legacy character and wounded the other two. She took on Sidney and Gale, two full grown women, at the same time and even though she ultimately ended up dying she did some damage. Her motive was 10/10 for me. I don't know why people hate it because they literally sound like Amber and Richie complaining about it. She was a child carrying a full grown man. That's embarrassing, which is why Richie is so low but it's iconic for Amber to accomplish so much for being so young.

2. Roman Bridger: he was the only Ghostface to go solo which means he did all the work. He deserves the recognition doing it all himself and getting as close as he did. He also technically started it all by convincing Billy to kill Maureen. I know a lot of people, including the cast, thought it was random for Roman to be Sidney's brother but I think it makes so much sense and I think they executed it well. The storyline wasn't anymore random than Billy having a daughter that no one knew about for years but Amber found out like nothing.

1. Jill Roberts: in my opinion, she is the smartest Ghostface and quite frankly the best when it comes to planning and getting away with it. Sure, she made Charlie do all the Ghostface killings and kills only Trevor and her partner but that's the genius part. Her goal was to become the new Sidney so she had to keep her hands clean as much as possible. She was the only one smart enough to not let her partner wound her and instead betrayed him before he could her. She killed everyone (or so she thought) before beating the shit out of herself and making herself look like the victim. She's the one who got the closest to killing Sidney and getting away with it and shes the only Ghostface to not scream like a maniac when she “comes back” after being seemingly killed. Her motive was 10/10. I remember watching "Scream 4" for the first time and thinking how relevant it was at the time and it's only gotten more relevant with time.

Greg Bruckner does not make the list because despite some people considering him a Ghostface, I do not consider him one. He died before he got to kill anyone or even do anything in the Ghostface costume or with the voice changer.

Something I've been thinking about lately is how Gale's always painted to be the bad guy when it comes to her relationship with Dewey. I absolutely love Dewey and quite frankly I didn't like Gale until "Scream 3" but the way he treats her is actually kind of crazy. Anyway, here's another one of my little rants...

Their relationship somewhat starts in the first film but other than them flirting and kissing once, not much really happens so let's skip over to "Scream 2." In the second movie, we learn Gale writes something about Dewey he isn't particularly fond of in her book. This is the only instance were she is at fault. To be fair though, like I already mentioned, their relationship barley started in the first movie. It isn't until the second movie that her feeling for him actually expand past flirting/crushing. This is proven when she leaves her news report to ride with Dewey to the hospital, something she didn't care to do in the first movie.

In the third movie we learn that they've broken up. Gale cared enough to stay with him until he was better but she very clearly wasn't happy in Woodsboro and she loves what she does for a living. Dewey just makes her out to be this monster because she won't drop what she's doing to live in Woodsboro with him. He made no effort to make any sacrifices to make their relationship work, he wanted her to make them all. After all that, he ends up leaving Woodsboro anyway for his job, something he couldn't do for someone he supposedly loves.

In "Scream 4," they've surprisingly been married for ten years. Gale is struggling to write because she's stuck in a small town with not much going on and we already know she's not a fan of the place from "Scream 3" as she mentions "I couldn't stay there. It's like dog years. One year in Woodsboro's like seven anywhere else." She been there for ten/eleven years. She really sacrificed so much for this man and he never appreciated it. On top of all that, throughout the movie he doesn't listen to a damn thing she has to say. I do understand since he's the sheriff he can't put someone else in danger, especially his wife, but it doesn't come off that way.

"Scream V" reveals that they're divorced. Reason being, Gale finally got her big break and Dewey couldn't do for her what she did for him. Gale stayed in that shitty ass town for at least ten years and I imagine they stayed there a little longer after the events of "Scream 4." Dewey tried for two months. TWO FUCKING MONTHS. He really cared about this town full of murders more than the woman he supposedly loves. She always showed so much compassion for him and really tried to make it work. All he did was cry and whine that she didn't want to do things his way.

However, I will say Gale moved on a little quickly after Dewey died for my liking. But we also don't know how long she's been with Brooks. I guess there's a possibility they were dating in the fifth film but I feel like that's something Dewey would have known about and been even more hurt by.

Defending Ethan Landry...Kirsch? Whatever is real name is!!

Hello again. I wanted to do a post defending Ethan Landry like I did with Amber because he's another Ghostface that's looked down upon and in my opinion, he's super underrated.

Firstly, I want to begin with the fact people think he's not capable of being as brutal as the Ghostface is in the sixth film. When you take a look at Jack Champion, the actor who plays him, he works out and is in very good shape. He's more then capable, in my opinion. I've seen a lot of people in reaction videos say "if it's that nerdy guy I'm going to be so mad because there's no way he can do that" when watching the scene where Ghostface picks Anika up by the throat and slams her against the wall, which is a crazy thing to think. As I mentioned before, Jack is pretty fit and Ethan has Jack's body physique since he's playing him and Anika is a fairly tiny girl. Why is it so crazy to think he could pick her up the way he did? Especially when she was gripping onto his hand making it easier to pull her up.

Secondly, people think Ethan didn't get any kills because he had an alibi for the apartment attack but Dr. Stone's killer was never confirmed and quite frankly I believe he was still the one to kill Quinn's hookup and Anika. We obviously know this can't be Quinn so let's move on to Wayne and Ethan. After they reveal themselves Wayne says, "I just made sure I was first on the scene so I could switch her body out with a fresh one." Quinn and whoever was in the Ghostface costume (Ethan, in my opinion) were the only two in the apartment after the attack. If Wayne was already there he wouldn't need to be "first on the scene." On top of that, I'm pretty sure Quinn was on the phone with her father when Ghostface was behind her. As for Ethan's alibi, a few scenarios could've happened. Since his father is a detective and it's not known to anyone he could've easily lied for him. I know Wayne mention's they took him off the case but guess what? That could've been a lie too. For all we know, to the other cops that showed up, that wasn't even his daughter that died. While lying to the core four and convincing them his daughter is dead, he could've just as easily lied to the cops and said it was just one of their random friends. Another possibility is he showed up for a few minutes to econ, left to do the Ghostface attack and then went back. I know some people don't like determining who's under the costume this way but Jack was actually under the costume when Ghostface was behind Quinn while she was talking on the phone and honestly that's confirmation enough for me. Otherwise, what's the point of him being under there?

I've also seen people just flat out complain about Jack's performance which I don't understand. Sometimes I think people hate on the fifth and sixth movies just because it has new writers/directors because going into this movie I had no idea who he was nor did I have any expectations for him or any new characters for that matter but his performance after he was unmasked and went absolutely batshit crazy was so good and he easily because one of my top five Ghostfaces. He had that crazy in him that I love in a Ghostface. I left the theaters wanting to see it again specifically for Anika and Ethan. They stole the show, honestly.

Defending Amber Freeman!!

Hello, fellow "Scream" fans. I would like to take a moment to defend Ghostface #8, Amber Freeman because people in the fandom LOVE to shit on her. They're always finding a reason to say she was a terrible Ghostface (some go as far as saying the worst.) While she does have her flaws (they all do) she is far from the worst and she's actually quite a decent Ghostface, in my opinion.

So let's start at the beginning. Something that always irritates me in this fandom is when people call Amber stupid for using her own phone to make the Ghostface calls but it's actually so smart on many levels. First of all, she's not using her own phone. She actually cloned her own phone and here's how I know. When Ghostface calls Sam in the hospital it comes from Amber's phone, however, in the next scene after the attack we learn that Amber was at the sheriff's station being questioned. Even if she wasn't being questioned at that very moment she would have had to sneak away from Judy and her friends to make the call, causing suspicion. I feel like that's something Judy would have caught. Therefore, this had to be Richie making the call. So he was just using her phone, right? Not quite. In the same scene we see Judy checking out Amber's phone and hands it back to her. When would Richie have had the time to give it back to her? It's actually a lot better plan when you realize they actually cloned her phone to make it authentic. On top of all that...it works! Maybe not for the know it all viewers but from within the movie, no one suspects she actually made the calls herself. Besides, Roman does a similar thing with his voice changer and no one say a damn thing. When talking to Sarah he uses his own voice and we, as an audience, are suppose to believe in that moment it's a voice changer because there's no way they already revealed Ghostface's identity.

Next, let's talk about Dewey. People are mad that this tiny little girl could take him out but did you not see the epic fight scene where she very clearly could not overpower him? Even with all his injuries from the past movies and him just being old and tired he still overpowered her, a young and healthy energetic teenager. It wasn't until she played dead possum and attacked him while his guard was down that she could get a stab in.

And no, she did not lift him off the ground. Please pay attention to detail before you start crying about shit. She pulled the knife up and Dewey's body's first initial response was to go up on his toes with the knifes to try and prevent it from happening as much as possible. In fact, they both had to go on their tippy toes.

Another reason people love to hate on Amber is because her kills on Tara and Chad failed. Meanwhile Billy failed to kill Dewey, Randy and Gale. Nancy failed to kill Dewey. Roman failed to kill Mark. Charlie failed to kill Kirby. Richie failed to kill Mindy. Quinn failed to kill Gale and Mindy. Ethan and Quinn both failed to kill Chad. Wayne and Ethan both failed to kill Kirby. On top of all that, they all failed to kill Sidney, Sam and Tara in their respective movies. Amber letting a few kills slip is fine. She was still smart and a brutal attacker, especially when she knew she had a stronger opponent and needed to go for a fatal attack. In the end she killed the sheriff, ex-sheriff and a deputy.

"Amber was so obvious..." as if that's an excuse. You know who was the MOST obvious Ghostface killer to ever exsist? The very first who this whole damn fandom holds up on a pedestal: Billy Loomis. I mean, my Grandmother who can hardly comprehend the movies or simple basic things anymore knew it was him. Mickey was also super obvious. I've watched so many reaction videos and everyone susses Billy and Mickey so fast so please come up with a better excuse if you're going to trash Amber. I had the movie partially ruined for me (I looked away from the spoiler as fast as I could but I knew it was a young girl with long hair so there was few options of who it could be) so I can't really give my full opinion on how obvious she was but quite honestly I didn't see much evidence that led to her.

Just as a bonus: she has the most epic reveal (fight me.) Even if you suspected her you couldn't have suspected the reveal at that very moment. The way she abruptly pulled out the gun had me shook! "Welcome to act three" = iconic. As much as I love Jill if I see one person say how iconic her reveal was I'll lose it. It might have been shocking and unexpected it was her but her reveal was just her taking off her mask and saying "hello, Sidney. Surprised?" It was just a knock off of Mickey's reveal.

Now this is another that grinds my gears. When Amber faces off Sidney and Gale in the kitchen she cries, begs and pleads for her life. People take this for weakness and consider it another reason she's a terrible Ghostface because "she's the only one to do so." Here's my take on it: the first time Amber pleads for her life immediately after, she provokes Gale by claiming Dewey "died like a pussy." Now if she was truly scared and begging for her life, why would she fuck it up so quickly? She switched up SO fast. It was clearly a tactic to distract them long enough to figure out her next move and it worked. She tried it a second time but it obviously didn't work but I have no doubt in my mind that if it had she would have just attacked them again. She wasn't sorry and had no intentions of ever backing down. Meanwhile, the same people who complain about this are Stu fans and he cries like a little bitch when Sidney tells him she called the cops because his mommy and daddy are going to find out. 🥺 (I love Stu, by the way. I know that sounded aggressive but it's his toxic fans that really irritate me.)

On top of all that, she killed everyone in "Scream V." In my opinion, from the way I analyzed the film, she killed everyone and the only people Richie attacked were Sam in the hospital and Mindy in Amber's living room. You can view my first post to go more in depth, if you're interested.

At the end of the day, if you don't like her then whatever. That's fine. It's your opinion and it's probably not going to change but just say you don't like her and move on. Everything you hate on her for has been done by past Ghostfaces already so go hate on them. Amber was a great Ghostface and Mikey Madison did absolutely amazing in this role. Her going absolutely unhinged at the end is what won me over and made Amber my favorite Ghostface.

TATUM RILEY AND ANIKA KAYOKO ARE SUPER UNDERRATED AND UNDERAPPRECIATED!! Excuse me while I go on another little rant but something that's always bothered me in the "Scream" franchise is how Tatum was Sidney's best and only real friend. 2/4 of her friends actually wanted to kill her and Randy didn't seem to be all that close to her until the second movie after they'd gone to hell and back together. Tatum was a real one. She was by Sidney's side through thick and thin and really, truly had her back. She was so protective of her. So for Sidney to just forget about so easily after the first movie is crazy. Especially because she was Dewey's sister and neither of them mourned or mentioned her. It would've been nice to just get a scene where she maybe had a picture of her and Tatum together and she has a little moment looking at it or just her being sad and missing her. Just one little moment to truly mourn and reminisce her would've been nice. Instead all we get is Gale mentioning she was one of the victims from the first killings as Dewey just kind of looks away and Steven mentioning her death to who he thought was Dewey but really it was just Roman. We did get to see that Dewey had her ashes which was nice but she deserved better, to be honest.

Anika was basically the Tatum of "Scream VI." We're introduced to her by her literally saving Tara from someone who was going to take advantage of her. Mindy, who's known Tara longer, didn't even get up from the couch...some friend. When they get attacked by Ghostface in the apartment and when Mindy gets her arm slashed Anika, the second tiniest of them all, has the guts to start throwing hands for her girlfriend...to save her fucking girlfriend she goes up against a killer who she clearly doesn't stand a chance against resulting in her getting gutted! What does Mindy do with that tiny little slash in her arm compared to the gapping gash in Anika's stomach? She sits and watches like the shitty girlfriend she is (I'm sorry to the Mindy fans, I don't hate her but she really pissed me off in this scene.) She then listens to Anika when she tells her to go across the ladder first. If I truly loved someone, I'm not leaving them. She's either going across that ladder first or I'm staying to fight for them. We're either living or dying together. Shitty girlfriend behavior if you ask me. After she dies it's very much so like Tatum but worse. Tatum dies near the end of the movie and Sidney doesn't find her body until a little while later when she running from Ghostface. She doesn't have time to be sad or mourn her. Anika dies halfway through the movie and they have SO much time to be sad and show how her death affected them. Mindy was over it by the time they got to the theater. Tara, who Anika clearly cared for enough to save her at the party, seemed more concerned about Quinn and her father who turned out to be murderers and Chad was more concerned about Mindy which is fair since she didn't really seem to be friends with Chad. The only one who seemed to care at all about her death was Sam which is shocking. On top of all that, she’s the only important person (excluding the killers) that died in the sixth movie. She died so The Core Four could live. 😞 Which isn’t fair…at least one of them should have died. She. Deserved. Better.

However, besides being the bestest friends anyone could have in this franchise, Tatum and Anika have the most iconic death scenes in the whole franchise so at least they got that.

I'm not a huge fan of her but another character I actually want to mention who got disrespected was Liv Mckenzie. Liv was obviously friends with Tara before Liv and Chad started dating so for Tara and Chad to start dating when their friend/girlfriend died under a year ago and don't even seem to be affected over it in the slightest is honestly so crazy. Chad claimed to have loved her and now he doesn't even care she's dead? No mention? Just move on and date her friend? I get Tara and Chad have known each other longer but that's still fucking crazy to me and even thought I wasn't crazy about this character, she still deserved better.

Unpopular opinion that will probably make me the most hated person in the fandom: Kirby is overrated and she should have stayed dead. Now, I don't hate Kirby or Hayden (the actress who plays her.) In fact, I can appreciate the character a lot more now that I'm older and Hayden plays her well. Before that though, I didn't really have much of opinion of her when "Scream 4" was first released. Here's why I think she should have stayed dead though. In "Scream 4" we see her get stabbed and while the camera's panning away she's not technically dead because we see her moving. This is allegedly because the director, Wes Craven, wanted to leave the possibility open that she was still alive so he could bring her back for his next movie. The original plan was to start a new trilogy and continue the story of "Scream 4" in "Scream 5." Apparently, this didn't take off because the fourth movie didn't perform well at the box office.

This all would have been fine if at the end of the movie someone mentioned Kirby was alive but in critical condition but Sidney is the only one they mentioned. Jill states "Trevor and Charlie, they tried to kill me and I head they killed my mom and...and Robbie and Kirby too" to which Dewey does not reply. That led me to believe she was dead. Fast forward to "Scream V" and "Scream VI," the new directors, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, wanted to bring Kirby back because Wes teased she could be alive. In my honest opinion, Kirby should have officially died with Wes (rest in peace to his beautiful soul.) She really had no reason to return and no relevancy other than being a fan favorite. She was Jill's Tatum and what happened to Tatum? She died. I love Tatum, Jennifer, Amber and Anika but they all died when they needed to and I'm content with that. These are horror films. People die, stop crying over it especially when they're as deposable as Kirby is. If Mark hasn't even made a return yet what makes Kirby so special that she needed to come back? I doubt she kept in touch with Sidney, Dewey or Gale. I will say, they did handle her return fairly well with the "I almost died after I was stabbed. Technically, I did die...for four minutes" line. It explained why Dewey didn't mention her being alive at the end of the fourth movie. However, her coming back still doesn't sit right with me. There was such a big gap between the fourth and fifth movies that she became irrelevant and with no survivors from "Scream 4" (outside of the three legacy characters, which she had no real connection with) it makes her super irrelevant. No matter how hard I try, it just feels so forced. Again, nothing against the character or actress. Hayden still does amazing in "Scream VI" and Kirby's still a great character but I just don't think we needed her to be alive. With the two legacy characters, Mark from "Scream 3" and now The Core Four plus Danny the last thing we need is another survivor. Tatum did not get her head smash in a garage door and Anika did not get gutted then thrown off a ladder just for you guys to cry about your favorite character dying until she's resurrected. Sorry if you're pro Kirby being alive but it's not for me. My opinion isn't going to change the fact that she is alive and back in the franchise. This is just a little rant I want to get off my chest and see if there's anyone out there who feels the same.

I never understood why people hate on Amber and Richie's motive when it's far from the worst in the franchise, in my opinion. So here's a little rant of my opinions on all Ghostface motives. Billy Loomis: his motive literally makes no sense to me but because he's one of the original Ghostfaces, everyone puts him on a pedestal. He kills Maureen because she's sleeping with his father, Hank, causing his mother, Nancy, to leave them. Makes sense, he could have stopped there. Instead he targets Sidney for literally nothing. Just simply because she's the daughter of the woman who broke up his family. It would have made more sense to go after Sidney while Maureen was still alive to make her suffer before killing her. Therefore, making his motive one of the dumbest in the franchise for me.

Stu Macher: his motive is simple yet affective; he has none...or at least as far as we know. Most real life murderers probably don't have much of a motive either so while it's realistic it's not exactly the most creative motive but really, how creative can you really get? There's only so many reasons to want to kill someone especially when the main target is the same unproblematic person just trying to live her life in peace.

Mickey Altieri: I love Mickey but he has one of the dumbest motives in the franchise and no one says shit. He literally just wants to get caught and blame the movies. Nancy did the right thing shooting him.

Nancy Loomis: one of the better motives, as Nancy herself says, good old fashion revenge. It's the first time in the franchise that the motive is revenge (no, I don't count Billy's motive as revenge. Maybe when it came to Maureen but not Sidney) so it's a fresh motive in these movies.

Roman Bridger: another motive I particularly like. I think of his motive less revenge and more resentment. No motive is good enough to kill but his is one of the ones where you could understand how someone who's mentally unstable could snap. Being abandoned by your mother just for her to have another child she loves and cares for and then turns you away once you try to reunite with her? I'd be upset too. I mean...not enough to kill but you get my point.

Charlie Walker: another dumb motive that no one talks about. As a matter of fact, does he even have one? We know he's a "Stab" fanatic and a simp for Jill so what I get from this is he was easy to persuade because he was already a fan of the movies and a horny teenage boy. I don't think he could've given a fuck less if he got famous from it.

Jill Roberts: her motive is one of the best and aged like fine wine. In the world we live in today, some people would quite literally kill to be famous. I know some people have complaints about it but it's really not that farfetched. People are mad crazy these days and kill for the stupidest reasons.

Amber Freeman: like Charlie, I don't know if we really get a motive for Amber. Richie seems so much more passionate about the "Stab" movies and their killing spree becoming a movie then she does (he literally doesn't shut up about it and barely lets Amber give her motive or intentions.) What I got from watching the movie was that Amber was a fan of horror movies in general (she very clearly likes "Psycho," "Halloween" and "Friday The 13th") but she claims she's been obsessed ever since her parents bought Stu Macher's house, where the first murder spree took place, implying she didn't care as much before moving in. She also says her and Richie had similar ideas, not the same. I think her motive was more like Stu's and was to just kill for the fun of it. If her and Richie's motives were in fact the same, it's still a decent motive and original compared to the Ghostfaces before. If her motive was similar to Stu's, it's still a decent motive just unoriginal.

Richie Kirsch: his motive is a lot more crystal clear than Amber's. As I already mentioned above, he doesn't shut up about it. He hated the recent "Stab" movie and thought creating a new killing spree would provide new source material to make a better movie than the last. Considering how upset people in the "Scream" fandom got about this movie (and how other fandoms get with their respective franchises) just proves that his motive isn't that dumb. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if something like this happened in real life, especially when you take into consideration that these movies inspired real life murders already.

Jason Carvey: his motive wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. He was just another fanatic (which is repetitive of the last movie) wanting to continue "Richie's film" (fuck Amber, I guess...I hate how this movie down played her when she carried Richie) but since he was an opening kill, his motive probably wasn't meant to be all that great. Had he gotten further with his plan though, I wouldn't have hated it. PS: if you were expecting a Greg Bruckner paragraph, sorry but his bitch ass was killed before the plan was meant to be put into motion so therefore, he wasn't officially a Ghostface in my eyes. His motive would have been the same as Jason's anyway, as far as we know.

Wayne Bailey, Ethan Landry and Quinn Bailey: I'm going to include them all in one paragraph since their motives are all the same: good old fashion revenge. As Richie's father, brother and sister their only goal was to seek revenge on anyone who was involved in Richie's death. Nothing suggests that any of them had any additional motives. The motive itself is fine, I literally mentioned it was one of the better ones in my Nancy paragraph. The only problem I have with it is now it's become repetitive and unoriginal. It's basically just a knockoff of "Scream 2" with an extra killer. From my point of view, it's the only movie that straight up reuses a motive. To summarize: pansy ass mama's boy who's sad she abandoned him, psycho who was peer pressured, psycho who wants to get caught and taken to trial, mother seeking revenge, son who was abandoned by his mother and has resentment against his sister, simp horror fan, psycho who wants fame, horror fans who want a better installment in their favorite franchise, horror fans who want to continue the last Ghostfaces plans for a better installment in their favorite franchise and a family seeking revenge; notice how only one of these are almost exactly the same to another. (I guess Billy and Roman's could be categized as similar, being abandoned by their mothers, but they're different enough for me and Roman's motive was better and made more sense. Amber and Richie have the same or at least similar motive but because their partners in the same movie I'll allow it. Jason and Gregg's motive was meant to continue what Amber and Richie sought out to do but they were opening kills so their motive was kind of a throwaway and irrelevant anyway.)

This post is just to get some things off my chest. I want to start off by saying I'm the kind of person who actually wants and hopes every Ghostface killer gets some kills. I know some people will pass it off as me being an Amber fan and being blinded by it but before Amber, Jill was my number one favorite Ghostface (now second) and I can fully admit she did not kill a damn person until she was unmasked. I really watch and pay attention when coming to these conclusions. It's not me just being an Amber fanboy. I love Richie and wish he did some kills but I personally don't believe he did and that's what this post will be about, explaining my theories and opinions. Before going through the attacks and kills I want to do a little explanation. People jump to the conclusion that Amber likes to "staby stab" while Richie likes to go for the throats but I personally believe Amber doesn't have any one way of killing. I think Amber’s smarter than the fandom makes her out to be and she knows she has to go for the surprise quick kills when she knows she has a strong victim. It doesn’t always work out for her though which is why she resorts to stabbing repeatedly. She adjusts her style to the victim/situation, which I'll explain further through each attack/kill. First up is the attack on Tara. I think most of the fandom can come to an agreement that this was Amber, although I have seen some people argue it was Richie. The explanation is pretty simple though, when Richie claims he was in Modesto Sam doesn't dispute it and with how overprotective she is of Tara she definitely would of called out if he was out of her sight long enough to do the attack. Therefore, this was Amber. This is also the first time Amber seemingly goes for Tara's throat as well, something some people claim is Richie's style, but Tara stops the knife.

Next up is Vince's kill who most of the fandom believes is Richie because of the throat stab. For this to be Richie he would’ve had to sneak away from Sam and Tara, count on them not waking up and without being spotted by the hospital staff and guards to kill Vince whereas Amber and the gang got kicked out of the bar and it was late, we have no context after that so they could've split to go home which would be when Amber stuck over to kill Vince. She knew Vince was stronger than her and he was armed with a knife so she was smart enough to go for a surprise quick kill. Intermission on the attacks/kills to defend Amber from those of you who call her stupid and obvious for using her own phone to make the calls. During the attack on Sam in the hospital we know Amber was being questioned at the sheriff's station. So how could she have made the call? This means Richie called from "Amber's phone" but in the next scene we see Amber hand her phone to Judy. When would Richie have had time to give Amber back her phone? This would mean they actually cloned her phone, incase there was anyway for the police finding out it wasn't actually cloned or even just for the sake of Richie having the option to use it which I think is actually a smart move. Again, I think most of the fandom can collectively agree that Amber killed Judy but I want to go over the attack because it comes into play with my theory that Amber does throat kills. Like Tara's attack, it seems Amber goes for Judy's throat but she also stops the knife. To overpower Judy she has to use both her hands (which will come up again in this post.)

While people think Richie killed Wes, things don't add up for me. Why open the door? If Amber was already outside and Richie was inside, Amber would just head to the hospital and Richie would not need to lure Wes to the front door. He could've just fucked with him in the kitchen. Furthermore, after killing Wes, Richie would have to find a ride back to the hotel while picking up a pizza all before Sam called him. Wes' attack is also very similar to Judy and Dewey (which I'll get to.) All three almost get a knife to the throat before it's stopped and Amber had to use both of her hands.

Side note: this might not be much evidence but I thought it was worth noting but Wes’ kill seemed VERY personal. The way this Ghostface held the knife in his throat while staring into his eyes as he coughed up blood. We already know Wes and Amber were beefing over Tara so it makes perfect sense she’d want to kill him. Next up is the deputy who had his throat slit when Tara's attacked in the hospital. It doesn't make sense for Richie to do this because he would've had to first get to the hospital, dress up in his Ghostface costume incase someone walked in on him or the kill on the deputy was unsuccessful and then get undressed. Amber was already there and in her Ghostface costume and as I mentioned before, Amber's smart enough to go for a kill style that's a quick kill when it comes to stronger/armed victims. I believe while she was killing the deputy, Richie shut the lights off because we hear him open the door and walk up to Tara, insinuating he just showed up. Since it's confirmed Dewey's attack was done by Amber (despite the morons that believe there was a secret mastermind) because Richie was present, we can look at how she attacks and handles her knife. This is the fourth instant that Ghostface aims for the throat, fails and has to use both hands.

Going against the theory that Amber likes to stab, stab, stab that some people believe and further supporting my theory that she likes to change it up and doesn't have one style, she stabs Dewey with one knife in his stomach and one in his back and then pulls them up. She went for that quick and fatal kill because Dewey put up a good fight and she knew she couldn't fuck around anymore and had to get the job done.

We know Amber attacks Chad but since she uses her "stab like crazy" tactic, it doesn't help my point that she has other kill styles. So moving on... This last scene I want to talk about is actually Richie but I feel like people are going to bring it up so lets talk about it. When Mindy is attacked, we know this is Richie because shortly after, Amber comes in with Tara where she claims to have been with Tara the whole time with Tara not disputing it and there isn't any way she could have gotten out of her costume that fast without Tara seeing her anyway. Also; Jack Quaid, the actor for Richie, was under the costume in real life for this scene. So why am I bringing the scene up? Well it kind of conflicts with my theory since Richie also seems to use the same tactic in this scene that Amber has used on Tara, Judy, Dewey (and Wes which is is one of the kills that is up for debate in the fandom.) The tactic in which she goes for the throat and is stopped so has to use two hands. The only differences in this attack is we can't really tell if he's aiming for the throat whereas in the other attacks (and gifs of them I included) the throat seems to be the target and the second difference being all the other attacks, the Ghostface holds the knife on the right and pushes down with their left hand while Richie, during the Mindy attack, holds the knife from his left side. I don't know if it's that deep but you know...I thought it was something to mention.

In conclusion, killing styles don't mean much to me. There's only so many ways to handle a knife and it's not that hard to change it up. Especially if you're a murderous psychopath, you're probably going to want to be creative but since a lot of people in the fandom like to base it on kill style, I'm trying to debunk that. Killing styles aside, I just don't think Richie could have made these kills, looking at where he's placed throughout the movie. Well, that's it.
