Empathy

My stomach turned on Tuesday morning as the results of the election came in. And it reminded me of a dark place just a few years ago. The central theme of this election has been one of a world that needs more empathy which clearly this orange man is lacking of. People have been doing the most asking how does this concern me. It goes beyond borders, and the more the world has beautiful people running amazing businesses, and in charge of governments - there's a light on the hill that will continuosly glow and touch everyone's lives. Finally realized what it means for people to fall sick and become wary just from being scared and extremely worried. If you've beauty to show the world, do it right now. We need more of you in this present times.

Timeline of Everything

On most weekends that I go home now, there is always an expected development on how my father is fairing. Growing up, I knew him to be a conversation connoisseur and an apostle of long evening walks. He barely can hold conversations again or engage in political banter.

Those words come in hushed tones now. And the walks have been replaced with extremely long TV viewing.

Old age is old age. It’s beautiful. It’s heartbreaking. And it throws up all your repressed spiritual cravings.

The great thing about MI is, he's the kind of artiste to send you on a musical journey. To unearth moods that you never know existed and rekindle hope that are eternally faint. Box on IM3 is a masterpiece. No less thanks to Tay who already delivered a masterpiece of his own. The irony is I have never heard of Tay up until Tuesday when IM3 came out. The long old conundrum came out again, what's the best way to garner success while still staying true to your craft? Tay's The Box is excellent, and it's amazing that it all rests on a Soundcloud account. I wish there's a dedicated radio station playing music from underground artiste. A crowdfunded radio station, running ads that are true to the station. SmoothFM is close to what I want radio to be. Advertisers sign up for limited spaces. 'Don't believe them when they say it's impossible.'

On most days, this is the best place to goof around.

How Pusha T and Team DONDA Created the Artwork for ‘Darkest Before Dawn’

Pusha T (@kingpush) is rap’s most untouchable, uncrushable and unflustered emcee. But even the newly minted president of G.O.O.D. Music can stress out from time to time.

“Those were live birds — and I have a fear of birds,” says Push, about the weathered, monochromatic artwork of his new record King Push — Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, which features the Virginia-bred rapper in a denim jacket and trademark braids while a white dove flies in front of the frame. “Me, actually holding a bird, letting it go, letting it fly by my face, letting it sit on my shoulder, land on my head. My face doesn’t tend to show it in the pictures, but I was stressed out.”

Push knows better then anyone, though, that when you’re aiming for icon status, you have to act the part — birds in your grill or not. That means recruiting a bevy of rap’s top producers — Timbaland, Kanye, Boi-1da — for your new record, talking about how classic the album will be before it even drops and including a piece of striking artwork to help hammer it home. Having a top-notch photographer in Fabien Montique and creative team in DONDA doesn’t hurt, either.

“We researched scarification portraits of African tribes — the magnitude of that pain captured in a moment,” says Fabien (@fabienmontique), on the inspiration behind the cover and accompanying single “Untouchable.” “We set out to create a scenario where we translate the raw emotion and power of Pusha’s music juxtaposed with a visible symbol of hope and freedom.”

As for Push, his goal was simple: create something that was strong, iconic and would last a lifetime.

“Everything about the art is classic,” he says. “Everything about the album is classic. They go hand in hand.”
