A person may know that she has been spiritually abused when she has been taught, either covertly or overtly, to negate her own original thoughts, emotions, beliefs and body sensations because she has been convinced in some way that to operate out of these would be a betrayal of a sacred contract with either the divine, the divine’s representative or a parent. ~Andrea Mathews LPC, NCC
It’s pretty validating to know that maybe I wasn’t crazy after all.

Nucleo - Boolean, 2017, Nucleo_Piergiorgio Robino+Edoardo U. Trave, welded, polished bronze on vintage sculpture
“Based in Turin, art and design collective Nucleo investigate past and future time-frames and the spaces they present, often in the form of sculpture and design objects.
In the series of conceptual sculptures titled ‘Boolean’, Robino works alongside Torino-born artist Edoardo U. Trave, to explore a contemporary intervention of figurative vintage sculptures. Nucleo take inspiration from computer-generated Boolean data, in which values are reduced to true or false. This binary logic is represented by the fusion of two strikingly opposing forms: the classical sculpture of an animal or human figure, and rectangular cuboids of polished bronze plates. By implementing Boolean’s computer-aided design functions of intersection and union, Nucleo initiate a dialogue between the past and the future, creating a new space in history that is both yet to happen and already has.” [via

We’re sharing 3 photos/day from this year’s submission shortlist in the run up to the If You Leave Showcase launching December 7th in London at Shop 7 The Old Truman Brewery and travelling to New York in Summer 2018, where 20 final images will be exhibited as chosen by this year’s co-curators.
As always, the 20 finalists are chosen by 20 different co-curators, representing some of the finest platforms, publications and galleries and the showcase will be exhibited across selected venues throughout both cities. Alongside the showcase, we are opening a pop-up space/come café with some exciting talks and workshops.

Does poetry depart from things or is my life not able to distill it? Yesterday–watching the last of twilight– I was a patch of moss among some ruins.
