I think, genuinely, Vox only accepts being in an open relationship with Val because he doesn't think he can have, deserves to have, or is able to have the vulnerability to ask for an exclusive one. I think his ideal relationship is a monogamous one with a partner as dedicated to him as he is to them.

His treatment and dislike of Angel makes it obvious that he despises that Val loves someone other than him, and the casual tossing away to feed to shok.wav of someone Val was wanting to hook up with strongly implies to me that that hatred isn't only for people Val actually cares about.

I think Vox accepts Val sleeping around because he knows he can't stop it, and if he didn't have Angel to focus his hatred on for being a romantic rival he'd also hate Val's sleeping with random people. But with his focus on Angel he thinks that he's okay "as long as they don't mean anything to him" but I think he's just lying to himself.

It is notable to me that the only people Vox focuses on are Valentino and Alastor. Both of whom have shown that he has a significant romantic interest in and for both of whom he gets angrily jealous if either of them give someone other than him attention. But! Unlike Valentino - Vox is never seen having a casual relationship outside of Val. And Val's jealousy over Vox's attention towards Alastor tells me that normally Vox focuses all his romantic and sexual desires towards Val, and not anyone else.
