meds n' maniacs
The most he knew about cars was getting good deals on expensive ones, in the form of stealing rich bastard’s blind. Not that he couldn’t very well pay for his own fancy car if he wanted to. It was just that he preferred to hold onto all the money he had rather than spend it when it’s unnecessary. As for fixing them, that’d be where he’s basically lost unless it’s hot-wiring. He could do that much.
In the end, Nick hadn’t been surprised at all that Coach would end up dragging behind. The guy was big, stubborn and his attempt to lead the group was bound to come with consequences. Despite the nasty looks and judgmental snorts he got from the guy, he liked Coach. That was likely the only reason he was bothering to go back after this instead of just taking off ahead.
The kid had a point about sleeping too far apart. It was a dumb idea when something could happen during the night. With a defeated sigh, he moves back away from the closed doors and over to Ellis’s side. “Yeah, yeah. I get it. Just don’t go snuggling up to me during the night or you’re in for a rude awakening, got it?” In truth he wouldn’t really mind it, but he didn’t want anything else stirring up from physical contact.
Nick sat down a few feet away to lean on a wall, not getting even a minute to settle before Ellis began to ramble his usual spew of nonsense. He felt his jaw tighten as dread hit him, only giving the kid a silent glare as he let him get it out of his system. A slim jim is tugged from his own supplies, unwrapped and he’s taking a bite off the end. “That’s great. Really what I want to hear when trying to eat, Ellis.”
"Yeah ah' get it." Heaven forbid that someone like Nick might seem a little less manly if he were caught by some undead, cuddling up to some country boy with a man crush. It didn't bother Ellis though, he knew Nick and he were still good friends, believed it anyway. There was a lot that that kid liked to believe, whether it might be delusional or downright stupid - he trusted the other man with his life. It's why they were still breathing after all.
Offering a grin with chunks of protein bar flashing through it, he sidles closer, shoulder to shoulder with Nick. He knows he's pressing buttons, maybe because it's the only way to get the other guy animated. Made him feel human if they acted like nothing was wrong; his mom told him worrying too much wouldn't get you anywhere, too many ifs and not enough nows. "So! Yuh got anybody at home Nick? Well, uh, yanno what I mean-- kids n' shit, maybe a girlfriend, ah' dog? Ah cat?" Perfect timing to play twenty questions, Ellis.
