Sharing my opinion on “Sammick” because genuinely what the fuck.
Full disclosure; I am a trans(ftm) black person as stated multiple times in my introduction and the flag is literally on my pfp, been in multiple fandoms as well, Most of this is what I said in a comment section
it’s SO weird, I just say a post earlier talking about how the explicit acts Remmick and Sammie do and I’m like.. dude what?? The whole movie is about how remmick wants to steal Sammie’s gift/steal a piece of black culture, not how remmick and Sammie fall in love and go walk the horizon together while holding hands.
It’s actually so disgusting to me, and then the defense is “the movie lacked queer rep so we’re making it!” The movie wasn’t ABOUT queer rep, it took place in the 30’s and is about black people in that time period.
No this is not “babies first fandom”, I’ve been in fandoms as long as I’ve had social media, which is about 6-8 years now, I’ve been in multiple fandoms from WOF to Arcane, I’ve seen toxic ships, THIS is not just a toxic ship, THIS is just weird.
It reads, to me as the incapacity for colonizers (and those colonized by social conditioning) to not center the colonizer in stories. They hide behind any attached marginalizations they have but act as if that exists in a vacuum from their place within colonial power structure and how their behavior is reinfrocing that. Such as the "subliminal" normalization of sex (and SA) as a tool for domination of those lower on the social ladder.
Put bluntly, Sammick allows them to play out their buck breaking fantasies in a way they think is excusable and they dont like being told that that's a fucked up thing to do.
bottom!sammie is the most popular version of sammick there is and you wanna call the ship a BUCKBREAKING fantasy? you wannabe fandom overseers are just pulling shit out of your ass at this point.
also @a-secret-third-gabz you might be the most hypocritical account i've seen on this app. stop reblogging anti-censorship posts like this and this while shaming black porn creators out the side of your yuckmouth.
very embarrassing to see two black people acting like karens about an imaginary ship that doesn't affect them in any way. throwing black freaks under the bus so ya'll can pretend to be "the good ones" it's truly pathetic. ya'll are the weakest links and it's not even close.
First of all, there was absolutely no need to be rude.
Secondly, it’s truly just an odd ship to me personally because of the entire meaning of sinners as a movie. You can call me a black Karen all you want, I do not care what so ever; but you absolutely did NOT have to come off so hostile.
I do apologize if what you’re saying isn’t completely directed to me, and I also apologize if you saw what I said as disrespectful or bashful; I’m simply not very good at tone and I’m VERY blunt with what I say— but jesus— it was sharing a simple opinion I didn’t expect it to go crazy since I have a very small following.
