#mettaton #undertale #mettaton ex #beware: long rant in tags #i am often thinking about his performance of violence vs. the real deal.#trans analysis of mettaton is still far from exhausted. his relationship to gender is so interesting. hes such a unique piece of rep i can'#think of anyone else quite like him. gnc in some ways but also stealth and rather conformist in other ways.#people often bring attention to his loud queerness which i certainly don't condemn!! but when you dig into him hes got a lot simmering unde #the surface. mettaton is not free from toxic masculinity. don't get me wrong; hes no spamton g spamton but... clearly he has some issues.#issues that can easily be read through such a lens. he's avoidant of acknowledging his own negative feelings. he has a whole thing with the #spectacle of violence. as flamboyant as he is; he seeks and tries to fill very masculine roles with varying success.#the ceo; the rockstar; the news anchor; the protector; the king; the killer robot... etc... he's not good at all of them.#as much as he has beef with undyne i think he does also look up to her because in a lot of ways she embodies qualities he clearly admires #but that don't come as naturally to him as they do to her.#tangent: i think about how they used to be neighbors and he knows that but she might not even know that post undertale. ugh. mettaton </3 #his relationship to undyne is so interesting. i think its one of the most revealing ones he has. it says a lot about his feelings regarding #alphys and the opposite is true too. hes clearly often jealous and gets protective over alphys. he has BEEF with undyne. their banter is #super fun but its also often “real” on mtts end. he gets passive aggressive and stern with her. often over alphys. but he also facilitated #their relationship. he's supportive; even if he gets jealous and doesn't always fuck with undyne. it sorta aligns with his self-sacrificing #tendencies. he wants alphys to be happy. to get the girl she wanted. even if that means drinking ghost juice with mew mew that neither #of them can taste in a silent; otherwise empty kitchen at the party; as undyne and alphys celebrate. <-think about this alarm clock A LOT..#the relationship between a transgender man and his sapphic bestie/gender reasignment surgeon can be something so important...#don't get me started on alphys and mettatons relationship. its so messy i could throw uppppp. my hot take is that people who recoil at #mettalphys just don't get it. mettalphys is peak #like it can be in a platonic or romantic sense; it doesn't matter. its still peak. and its not counter to alphyne. imo mettalphys is the #most appealing when it's not endgame (if romantic). the emotional cartharsis is not in alphys and mettaton getting together. its in mtt #recognizing that there's someone better for her and dealing with that. he really does love her a lot. even though hes not above being mad a #her; toby again and again keeps reminding us that mettaton is very keen on keeping alphys happy when their relationship is good.#mtt regrets not being nicer to her when she disappears. he calls her out by name during neo as being worth dying for more or less.#she is the most important person in his life regardless of if romantic or no. i stand by that undyne is better for alphys than mtt is tho.

'twas two weeks ago, i was discussing electricopolis in discord server because... well! it's a good read! who could have ever guessed a bunch of mettaton fans would also enjoy reading and talking about bob sparker? anyways, the drawing... something in conversation, i don't remember exactly what, compelled me to redraw the halloween special cover as these three. the plan was to quickly whip up a 10-25 min doodle... i don't know if you can tell, but i got a bit carried away... ^^'
