[ lily collins, cis woman, she/her + castle by halsey ] ━━ Hey, that’s [ henriette evelyn montague ]? I read an article on them once ; they’re [ twenty nine ] years old of [ pureblood ] decent, a [ witch ] and a [ ravenclaw ] alumnus. I heard they had gone on to be a [ assistant to the minister of magic ] . I’ve heard they can be quite [ resourceful + dutiful ], but I don’t know… they came off very [ guarded + judgmental ] in that interview. It really is hard to know what to believe these days though, isn’t it?

henriette montague was the second born child to Graham Montague and his wife. she was the only girl born of the three children that the Montague couple had together. It was a miracle in itself that Henriette and her siblings had arrived at all. there was no love between her parents and it became pretty clear that her parents held no love for their children. Henriette and her brothers were means to an end for Graham Montague. based on the traditions of their family, Henriette grew up knowing that everything she was taught and raised to believe were meant to help her push her family further in the pureblood society. her sole responsibility as the only daughter was to make sure that she married well.
however, henriette was always a curious sort of child. she questioned everything, much to her father’s annoyance. she never understood why her family never interacted with those that were considered less than but with how harsh her father was, she learned that it was better to keep her opinions to herself.
the acceptance to hogwarts was expected after Henriette began showing signs of magic. the castle was a great escape from the cold of her childhood home. she was sorted in Ravenclaw which proved to be the perfect home for her. while she wasn’t a fan of attending class or doing the assignments, she loved learning. the library was her safe place.
was prefect and head girl. as well as a member of the frog choir.
with some miracle, she passed her OWLs and NEWTs with mostly Os.
After graduating, Henriette managed to gain a job in the cabinet working for the minister of magic. Right where her father wanted her.
But what her father hadn’t predicted was her best friend and her new husband, Mason, a muggleborn. her marriage was her choice and the only act of rebellion that she had ever done in her life.
Mason managed to bring himself to stand to follow her to the kitchen. She was always leading him, of course to better things. He leaned against the counter now as she summoned everything. It was definitely easier and faster because he knows he would have just gotten everything by hand. Old habits die hard. He took the fork from her as he leaned against the counter now to cut himself a bite before he peeked over at her. His first instinct was to say no because he didn’t really like to make others deal with his issues but then he remembered he wasn’t with a stranger. He was with his wife and with her, he knew he could be comfortable to be vulnerable so he tried to give his best smile as he let out a soft sigh. “I’m just worried, Hen.” He admitted. “I mean, at some point.. I’d love for us to have a family.. y’know? Times like this just.. it makes me worry because I want what’s best for us.. for you.” He took a bite before he reached out to take her hand in his.
&
—– Henriette took her own fork and waited for Mason to take his bite before she reached for her own. She savored her bite for a moment as she listened to him as he spoke. His worries were valid. Things outside of their little home were getting almost scary. Tensions from both sides were building and it was only a matter of when for things to completely explode. She was trying her best to hold on to what they had to keep herself from drowning in her own worries. “A family huh,” she murmured unable to stop herself from smiling at the thought. “We’ve dealt with a lot already,” she pointed out not feeling the need to mention everything that her father had put them through. “We’ll face everything going on the same way we did everything else: together.”
There it was. Henriette was always someone who called him out when he needed to be but she was also the only one who made his hectic thoughts quiet down. It was the only time that he could actually think rationally sometimes. When she was around, everything seemed to be lighter but tonight he just couldn’t sleep and he hadn’t wanted to wake her. A slight smile crossed his face as his brown eyes met her hazel ones in attempts to try to find a decent enough excuse. There was none. “That might not be such a bad idea.” He leaned into her embrace as he put a hand over her arm. “I think we still have some left over cake.”
&
—– Gently, Henriette gave him a comforting squeeze before she pulled back. “Cake is a perfect idea,” she said with a hum and reached for his hand to gently tug him to his feet. She summoned them a plate and silverware as she reached for the cake stand before she served them a rather big slice for them both to share. She leaned against the counter and held up a fork for him to take. “Do you want to talk about it,” she asked as she looked up at her husband. “I know you’ve been dealing with long days at work.”
Mason couldn’t really get to sleep. There was something that was bothering him and he couldn’t quite pin point what it was. It felt like something bad was coming and he was unsure of what but he knew that he needed to be ready. Tension was high and his father had been trying to reach out to him again to reconsider but the fact that Dudley would never approve of Henriette was enough to keep him away. He heard footsteps and glanced in the direction of where they were coming from. “You’re up late.” He said with a soft tone as if he wasn’t the one who was awake first.
&
—– Quietly and rather sleepily, Henriette made her way out of the bedroom and went looking for her husband. When she found him in their living room, she rubbed her eyes and made her way over to him. She pressed a kiss against his hair and let out soft chuckle. “Hello to you too, Pot, Kettle currently can’t sleep,” she said with an easy smirk. She ran fingers down his shoulders before she simply wrapped her arms around him from behind. “Do you want a midnight snack to keep you off whatever’s bothering you this late,” she asked.
