Here we are, Thursday morning, kid off to school, wife getting ready for work and me contemplating my day with my mate in the wheelchair. She’s a lovely lady deep down - deep, deep down. She has an acquired brain injury and chronic OCD, she’s confined to a wheel chair, weighs in at around 160kgs and can be really tough to understand when she speaks. But every Thursday, we hit the shopping centers and follow a set routine of her choosing. Like pretty much every other person with a disability, she’s doing the best she can, with what she has to work with. It can be a loooong 4 hours but usually, strangely fulfilling.
We don’t always ask for what we end up with. Some of us are fortunate enough to be blessed with the basics of life as well as the ability to appreciate them. Others are also blessed with the same basics of life - but they just don’t take the time to appreciate that - almost as if it’s never enough.
Stop... let the swirl around you keep going... and just take a breath... and be grateful that you still can.
Billy
