not understanding the poem at all in the first read is a hot girl trait
the phrase “curiosity killed the cat” is actually not the full phrase it actually is “curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back” so don’t let anyone tell you not to be a curious little baby okay go and be interested in the world uwu

Blood is thicker than water The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.
Meaning that relationships formed by choice are stronger than those formed by birth.
Let’s not forget that “Jack of all trades, master of none” ends with “But better than a master of one.”
It means that being equally good/average at everything is much better than being perfect at one thing and sucking at everything else. So don’t worry if you’re not perfect at something you do! Being okay is better!
These made me feel better
Also, “great minds think alike” ends with “but fools rarely differ”
It goes to show that conformity isn’t always a good thing. And that just because more than one person has the same idea, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good idea.
what the fuck why haven’t i heard the full version to any of these
“Birds of a feather flock together” ends with “until the cat comes.”
It’s actually a warning about fair-weather friends, not an assessment of how complementary people are.
I’ve always felt like these were cut down on purpose.
I really like these phrases and plan on spreading this knowledge.
The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
I want to make designs out of these.
Funny how all the half-finished ones encourage uniformity and upholding the status-quo, while the complete proverbs encourage like…living exciting, eclectic lives driven by choice and personal passion.
What must I do to be the owner of an antique store that’s in a corner that you can find only when you least expect it, and the inside of which smells like old wood and old things and there’s a cat that comes and goes and no one really knows how the shop is surviving because no one seems to buy anything yet the shop’s just always there
any of you read H.G Wells’s The Magic Shop? that’s what this kinda reminded me of for some reason.
thinking john mulaney is cute makes me feel like a nuclear housewife having a crush on the weatherman
i’ve been on a john mulaney marathon recently and what. a. man.
I want to move to London or Edinburgh or just some where in the UK. I want rain and cold days. I want old architecture and old libraries. I want to sit in cozy candle lit rooms curled up with a book and folk music floating through the air. I know I romanticize it all too much , but god that’s all I want.
the anglophile in me SCREAMED
some of you have never worked in a bathhouse to save your pig parents and it shows
studio ghibli :))
witches or mermaids? roses or sunflowers? autumn or spring? calm lakes or stormy seas? apples or cherries? paintings or statues? cottage in the forest or apartment in the city? horror or romance? diamonds or pearls? rome or tokyo?
witches, roses, autumn, calm lakes, apples, statues, apartment in the city (break in the aes yes but we gotta do what we gotta do), romance, diamonds, rome.
thinking about the quote “life is short. art is long” and how tragic it is that art lasts forever, but we don’t; how there will always be more books unread than read, more music unheard than heard, more paintings unseen than seen, and when i die, there will be countless more that i will never even have the opportunity to love and cry over and feel, because it certainly seems that there is more worth feeling in the world than time to feel it.
mom pick me up i’m scared
*makes aus for own ocs* i am my own fandom
yes.
*writes sad ending of my story* *imagines 21 different happy endings* perfect :))
On one hand, I wanna live in a cottage in the countryside with beautiful flowers and lots of big fluffy farm animals, but on the other hand- transforms into a vampire and goes to live in an abandoned Victorian house
first one’s for when i feel like there is meaning to life, second is for my ultimate goth angsty phases.
I am convinced that I have a Harry Potter syndrome. What it practically means is that every once in a while I panic, because I thought that I might be actually in Slytherin. I am very clearly a Ravenclaw, but just a stubborn one. (But I’ve always thought that it’s so unfair that they are sorted to their houses like...forever and it’s pretty much their destiny. People change, when they grow up!)
YESSSSS always struggled between ravenclaw and gryffindor, but now i also feel like a slytherin? also, i didn’t really like that classification system, preferred the faction system in divergent.

things that set my soul alight
The inexplicable romanticism of reading indoors during a thunderstorm.
The existential suspicion that there is something more waiting out there for you to find it.
The dark and heady way they move through the corridors, as though they were crafted from the gods themselves.
bliss.
I absolutely adore this community.
I have always felt like an outsider, and nothing has brought me more comfort than knowing there are thousands of other little aesthetes that crave knowledge and intellectual conversation whilst simultaneously looking like an academic babe.
All I know is that those scholars, authors, bright minds we idolise will one day be us, and the work we create will stir the souls of other lonely kids that find themselves deciding to get lost in a book.
dark academia is THAT community for me. like the one that i feel completely, and wholly, part of. i really just do wish i could meet someone like this in my real life.
i CANNOT believe i have never posted about call me by your name (2017) on my tumblr. i watched this last december, and i felt THINGS a whole week after. that song, mystery of love by sufjan stevens, would not stop playing in my head, making me feel melancholic every minute of the day. i loved the movie so much that i managed to find a group chat from a youtube comment section and it’s been a wild ride and i’ve actually made a few friends from it! i’ve recently started reading the first book and i stop every few pages at the sheer depth of the feelings i feel. I’m a straight girl, and it reminds me of one my recent crushes, a guy who was quite dismissive and indifferent, and for some reason i kept clinging onto him more. as an lgbtq ally, i really love that there is such a beautiful representation in this film and, as a questioning bi, i empathise with the whole closeted narrative.
