       Okay, maybe trying to do this on his own definitely wasn’t a good idea. Sam and Dean were far better at making small talk with people on cases than he was. Evidently, Other Jack didn’t know anything about the weird happenings Sam found in the paper, and alerting the general public about the existence of the supernatural was generally not a good idea.

       “Oh. I’ve never been to New York,” Jack offered, somewhat sheepishly. That wasn’t a lie, at least. “People in costumes? Like, the spider-guy from Youtube? Those kinds of costumes?”

       He took a sip of his drink, perking up a bit at being able to put his research into hunting lore to good use. “A wendigo is a kind of monster that eats people. They used to be humans, but—” he stopped himself. “…According to legend, anyway.”

Jack chuckled slightly. “Never been to New York?” He smirked. “Couldn’t tell.” Hopefully sarcasm was a universal language, otherwise he just complimented this guy. Then again, he wasn’t in the mood to get arrested by the FBI. Or, wherever this guy was from. “Yeah. Like the Spider-Guy. And the Metal Guy. The the flag waver.”

    Avengers. Pft. Overrated. 

He blinked once. Then twice. Was this guy on crack or something? “Jeez, you think that thing’s runnin’ around New York? No thank you.”

       “Well, it’s not short for ‘John,’ I mean. Or anything else.” It occurred to him that he probably should’ve given him the fake name that Sam had come up with for him instead of using his real name like that, but he was still way too honest to lie easily like that. Besides, he hadn’t given him a last name, so it was probably fine, right? “Jack” was a common enough name.

       He accepted his drink with a smile and a “thank you,” taking a sip as he pondered over how to re-phrase his question without immediately giving away what he was trying to do. His hunting skills weren’t as subtle as the Winchesters’ were yet, and the last thing he wanted to do was freak out Jack No. 2.

       “What do you mean by ‘always something weird?’” he asked, opting for a neutral sort of answer. “Ghosts? Wendigos? That kind of thing?” Or maybe not.

“Alright,” Jack slid a drink over to a regular, taking a small moment to talk to them. The usual, laugh, smile, maybe flirt. But he had to say, he was... captivated by this other Jack. Or, the proper term may have been curious. And he was willing to see where this curiosity took him. 

Ghosts? Wendigos? He only understood one of those words. “Nah, man, like... it’s New York.” Jack glanced around. “Like, typical shit, y’know. People in costumes running around acting the fool and whatever. I don’t even know what a Wendigo is, buddy.” He tilted his head up slightly. 

    “YO Marty!” He called across to a patron at a table. “You know what a Wendigo is?” Marty gave him a negative response. 

“Yeah, none of those here, pal.”

       “My mom named me Jack, too. Just Jack,” he replied, smiling a little. In retrospect, maybe he should’ve ordered something that Dean usually would’ve at a bar, but the only ID he had on him is his fake FBI badge, which seemed like overkill. Besides, he liked juice more than beer. “Cranberry is fine, thank you,” he said, then paused briefly as he considered something. It couldn’t hurt to get some investigating done while he was here, right? “I heard some weird stuff’s been going on in town lately.”

“Just Jack, eh?” Jack smiled, pouring him his drink, placing it on the bar in front of him. He got an odd look from a dancer dressed as Black Widow, but he just shrugged in her direction. If a paying customer, as weird as this one was, wanted cranberry juice, well... money if money. 

    Maybe this guy was one of those men in black. The real ones. And he was caught in the middle of some wild alien investigation. Then again, Skrulls invaded that one time and no one came to question him. 

Jack let out a scoff, not meaning to sound as condescending as it was. “Bud, there’s always somethin’ weird going around town lately. You’re gonna have to specify.”

       Jack had been to a few bars during his time with the Winchesters, but he’d never seen one where everyone was just like up superheroes. Why weren’t more of them like this? He waved at a waiter dressed like Captain America, who smiled politely at him and whispered something to his colleague, Iron Man. The spectacle of it all momentarily distracted him from the bartender— until he said his name, at least. “How can you be Jack if I’m Jack— oh, that’s your name, sorry,” he said sheepishly. “Um. Yes. Do you have apple juice?”

“Yup.” He patted his name tag. “The name my mama gave me. Or, at least, a form of it.” Now, the part of it that stuck out him most about this situation? The fact that this young man that was sitting in front of him, at a bar, just asked for apple juice. And was this same young man that was sitting at a bar, in front of him, was an agent. Of something. 

    And wanted apple juice. 

Jack’s left eye twitched slightly. “No.” He said plainly. “Would cranberry please you?”

Bear looked over at him, his apparent exhaustion, with indifference. The giant thing was interesting, however. “Don’t cramp now.” 

Well, anyway. Not quite finding the entrance she wanted, Bear decided to make one. After taking a moment to determine the hull’s thickness, he transformed only partially, turning her fingers into the brown bear’s clawed counterpart.

And then she tore open a hole large enough to enter through. She was still being mean when she said, “Mr. Student of Science, would you like to help me? As long it’s not too worrisome for someone of your ‘age and situation.’”

Raz blinked once. Then twice. Then three times.

    That’s not something you see every day. Granted he did live with a man who was dressed in a bear suit, he was, at the core... a man in a bear suit. 

“Uh, right.” Raz said when he came back into reality. “I’m assuming we’d want to find a command station, or maybe an engine room. If we can stick to a stealth operation, which in my experiences don’t always work out well, we’d still want to hit the engine.” He sighed. 

“But that would imply knowing the schematics for this ship and learning a new language.”

“You really are young.” Smiling, Bear stopped herself from pinching his cheeks, but her tone of voice accomplished the same thing. “While I’m sure they have better toys to play with, there’s nothing a large enough explosion can’t stop, deary, if you know where to put the epicenter.”

She waved his concern away as she prepared to board the Autocrons ship. “Besides, if they do have better explosives, I’ll be sure to find – and use – them.” As she searched around for a back entrance, Bear exclaimed, “You worry too much, young man!”

Raz grunted at that, still guiding terrified people away from the firey remains of their eating establishment. “I may be fairly young,” he grew to his Giant Man size, stomping out fires on the grass and patting out fires in people’s path. “But I do have a PhD.” He was, regrettably, Hank Pym’s legacy now. “And as a student of science, I can assure you that’s not always the case.” He was back to regular Raz size now. 

And there she goes. He instructed screaming and helpless people where to go during this, then ran after her. When he caught up to her, he rested his hands on his knees as if running took that much energy from him. “I worry the proportionate amount for someone of my age and situation.”

       This is hardly the first time that he’s been recognized, but he’s never quite gotten used to the celebrity treatment. In his head, he’s still just that skinny kid from Brooklyn who was constantly getting thrown into dumpsters, but to the rest of the world, he’s an icon, symbol; Captain America.

       “Hey, kid,” he says with a small smile. “Just ‘Steve’ is fine.”

“Uh, Steve. Alright. Okay.” Ayan was, once again, frozen. Come on, idiot, say something. “What... size would you like that in?”

    It wasn’t often Ayan Pandit met famous people at his local Starbucks, but he supposed it wasn’t every day anyone met an indigo mutant at a local Starbucks.

Bear rolled her eyes, holding four sticks of dynamite in between her fingers.

“I can’t be held responsible if you lose an arm, a leg, or your life.” She used a grenade to point to a ship carrying invading Autocrons, and then to the ruins of her outside table at the local TGIF. “Those blue alien people ruined my lunch, and quite possibly my day. You do whatever it is you men in pajamas do, I’m going to blow them to hell.” Pause. “Blow them up.”

Mourning his fate of always dealing with people he wasn’t equipped to deal with, Giant Man sighed. “Alright.” He murmured under his breath, eyes fixated on dynamite. Long, red sticks of dynamite. He figured people stopped using those a long time ago. In fact, he never even saw a stick of dynamite in person before right now at this very instant. 

“What do you plan to do with one, two, three, four sticks of dynamite?” Raz called over the noise of the panicking people fleeing the ruins of the local TGIF. “If they can build spaceships and travel to other planets, I’m sure they have more safisticated weaponry than someone throwing literal gun powder packed into tubes.”
