it used to be bright, like her laugh. a champion of champions. chosen before catastrophe. one by one by one until you're all that's left. you can't miss what you can't remember.

   it  hits  like  a  truck,  something  hollow  reacts  to  his  words.  something  that  should  be  there ,  he  knows  he’s   lost  it,  but  what  is  it?  heart  aches  as  his  words  echo  throughout  the  hero’s  mind.  eating  away  at  what’s  left.  not  much,  but  it’s  enough  to  bring  about  rage.  hand  tightens  on  sword  hilt  as  he  stares  at  the  mysterious  man.  unaware  of  the  secrets  he  knows,  yearning  to  get  an  answer.  something  that’ll  ease  his  mind.  ease  the  pain.   ‘  silence.  ‘  he  says,  though  he  wants  the  opposite.  speak  more,  expose  what’s  left  of  your  heart.  Please.  

    ‘ i  know  not  of  what  you  speak.  ‘    and  that’s  the  problem.   he  inches  closer,  fist  still tight  around  his  sword.  a  threat?  maybe.  an  answer?  Most  definitely.  he’d  get  them  one  way  or  another,  he  had  to.

        sword  halts  as  the  swordsman  stands  tall,  a  fools  game  this  was.  wielding  the  blade  of  Evil’s  bane  meant  nothing  dark  could  go  against  it’s  light.  but  before  him  stood  a  being  not  so  dark  and  not  so  light.  so  he  would  plant  his  weapon  in  the  ground,  hand  holding  onto  the  hilt  ,  still  ready  if  need  be  but  cautious  of  this  formidable  stranger.   he  raises  a  hand  in  surrender,  wavings  over  towards  the  woman.   ‘  I  mean  no  harm.’      retrieving  his  sword  from  the  ground,  he  would  return  it  to  its  sheathe ,  a  swift  movement  practiced  many  times  before  (more  than  he  actually  knew.)    ‘  strike  me,  if  you  must.’   he  stands  ready,  but  open  for  any  attack  the  woman  could  so  please.

does link know some sort of sign language? or does he rely on pure coporal expression to communicate himself?

Because i’m not really well versed in sign language just yet im going to say he relies on expression to communicate himself. slumbering for 100 years made him lose a lot of himself and one of those things  could've been how to interpret sign language .  he  might  even use the sheikah slate to write things down as well.
