Whenever she’d found herself in Mystic Falls with no idea how she’d gotten there two years after she’d been taken out by hell fire in 2020, Katherine wasn’t alone. Dozens of others found themselves brought back from the dead, none with any clue how it had happened. They hadn’t been the only ones affected though, even the living found themselves changed, or rather, the undead had. In the same night that they’d come back, vampirism was mysteriously cured, and everyone found themselves in a new world. And while most found in this new world a second chance, and hope for a future, Katherine found herself alone, and struggling to adjust to her new reality.
When she’d died she’d been Katherine Pierce, vampire, doppelganger, the survivor, and in her last moments, the queen of hell. Her reputation preceded her everywhere she went, and now, well, now she felt like a shell of her former self as she watched everyone’s lives come back together as hers fell apart. It didn’t wait for her, and life was moving on with or without her, so she had to get with the program, or watch whatever time she had left fly by her.
So, after avoiding the issue for the two weeks since her resurrection, she knew she had to go out and try and make a life for herself here, and that had to start with making amends, even if the wounds were still fresh in her mind. After dragging herself from her apartment to find a certain Salvatore, she found herself where he was staying, hesitating before knocking on the door, asking even before it was open “…. Can we talk?”
He heard her voice before he saw her face. It was a voice he knew all too well, from the very woman he just couldn’t quite shake. Not even Hell itself could separate them. Stefan Salvatore is standing in the doorway of his humble apartment, staring down at the Petrova Doppelganger with an unreadable expression, though there was a glimmer of uncertainty (and surprised) behind those hazel eyes. He resorted to an unsure nod, gaze falling to toward their feet when he stepped back to invite her into his home. After waiting for her to take his invitation, he’s closing the door behind them and crossing his arms loosely over his chest. “What about, Katherine?” It was easier to go the route that made him seem suspicious. It was the one reaction that fit their dynamic.
