Satya took a step forward, hands being held behind her back.
Studying the crowd never helped her to settle and feel comfortable. She couldn’t quite understand the logic behind keeping her focus in one particular person, just like every other partner from outreach would explain to her. Pointless to waste all the effort into someone who wouldn’t pay attention, or wouldn’t value her conversation, so she stopped trying.
With one deep breath, Satya found a perfect spot to remain standing, next to the chair that had been prepared for her. This was to be a quick conversation, nothing too detailed, not much time to be spent here. If they wanted to test everybody, she wouldn’t be standing there. For now, she only had to demonstrate what she was capable of doing.
“My name–” always the best way to begin, she was also told by outreach, “is Satya Vaswani. I am an architect, specialized in construction of urban areas using hard light as my main material, employed by the Vishkar corporation. I am sure some -if not, all- of you have heard of hard light, as least once?”
It doesn’t take long before the students become restless. They’re bored, easily enough, && more than one rolls their eyes, putting their head on their desk. Brian firmly kicks the one who does next to him, their head jerking up in surprised pain. Brian, for his part, does his best to listen raptly, && is one of the few students who bothers to give a nod of acknowledgement to her words.
Though many students were curiously trying to observe what was behind her back. Brian watches her curiously, as her gaze flits from person to person, never remaining still even for a moment, as though she was looking for someone worth the time of day. At least, that’s what it felt like.
