How did you make the stained glass cartoon like picture with you in it for your wedding? And how did you get the lettering?im so lost im trying to do a KH theme for my kids bday. They are turning 16. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did the stained glass version of myself and my bridesmaids mostly with a LOT of heavy referencing and redrawing of the original Sora stain glass. I drew it all in Photoshop. It took a week to draw so I wish I had the answer of it coming from a generator but sadly not, all by me.

If by lettering, I’m assuming you mean the Kingdom Hearts styled font? That’s pretty easily found online! (be sure to click the right download button, some of these font sites end up with ads with fake download the font here!) https://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/Kingdom_Hearts.font

Check out https://www.khinsider.com, it’s a really great fan site with a LOT of good quality sizes for Kingdom hearts images and logos that could be helpful! A lot of the stuff we used for the wedding was super customized or redrawn by me so we could make it fit our stuff but we used this place as reference a lot.

-Nobodies and Heartless-

We oddly had a few people asking to be villains when we did the color concepts but the bridal party are the only folks that got what everyone else asked for!

Groomsmen as our heartless, bridesmaids as our nobodies and our officiant as our Xehanort!

All my bridesmaids are Kingdom Hearts fans so there wasn’t a battle to go for the Dusk color palette. If anything, I just got sent a lot of black leather and jokes about who should be what Organization XIII member :3

-Sora-

We’ve mentioned our whole color concepts thing before and will probably keep doing so but for both David and myself, we went with Sora.

It seems more obvious to go Sora+Kairi but one--I like red better than purple-- and two, we both adore Sora and what he stands for so we wanted to represent that. We mentioned in earlier posts that I’m lovely based off KH1 Sora and David is KH2 Sora. This way we could also share our Kingdom Key and have a united color theme of red and gold. 

Since I couldn’t get too much red in my outfit, I decided to sell my ‘Sora’ by crying over my best friend a lot. I think that counts.

-Donald and Goofy-

Out of all the color concepts for the characters, these are the two we were sure of from day one. If not mostly because my dad is an actual goof. Okay, entirely. Did I mention he fell off the stage? 

So here we have David’s step-dad as our Donald and my dad as Goofy! I felt like I saw our Donald on the dance floor all night but I could barely find any photos of him. our Goofy on the other hand hammed it up all night for the cameras and it was hard to slim down his pickings.

-Our Riku-

Going down the list of the characters that we used as color concept, here is my big brother as our Riku! We wanted to make sure immediate family got to be involved with the theme and there was no way my brother was gunna get left out. I’m this video game nerd I am today thanks to him and David who is an only child was pretty excited to inherit a big brother. 

Some of the photo edits make the blue look more grey or black sadly but hey, we all knew what he stood for and that’s the important part. If anyone doubts it, we’ll have a race and you can see how he always wins.

-Minnie and Mickey Mouse-

Since we did everyone’s color themes based off characters, we landed on our ring bearer and flower girl being Minnie and Mickey! 

Flower girl’s basket was lined with Mickey silhouette printed fabric and the ring bearer’s pillow we wanted to be like the sorcerer’s hat so we went with star printed fabric.

-Teaching folks about Kingdom Hearts- 

I figured this would be a nice thing to share because I assume most people on this blog are Kingdom Hearts fans but you not everyone on our guest list was. Our parents knew the series loosely from having to hunt it down for us as gifts or having to hear the music non-stop as we played the games. So when we found this video, we decided to try and help those who didn’t get what the hell we were doing to our wedding. 

We jokingly dubbed it our’Kingdom Hearts’ school where if we had people who didn’t know Kingdom Hearts and wanted to be invested, we’d teach them Kingdom Hearts. This Timeline from GameTrailers is pretty amazing and it was what we’d use to start the conversation pretty much. Hell, we even did this for folks who HAVE played Kingdom Hearts but skipped a few games or didn’t get something. It was a lot of fun and I really recommend this video for everyone even if you’ve played all the games. They talk about a lot of the convoluted stuff and now they also have the Kingdom Hearts Mysteries videos which weren’t out before the wedding but are still pretty badass. 

I know this isn’t something we did for the wedding itself but it was a lot of fun to talk Kingdom Hearts and teach it to folks for those few months so figured we should give this video the shout-out it deserves for helping us get folks in the spirit!

-Our Union of Hearts ceremony-

Our officiant [wearing colors styled after Xehanort] did a lovely ceremony for us and the opening statement he made was actually Kairi’s letter. He also had us “Press Start to Begin” at the beginning and “Press Triangle to Activate” before kissing the bride at the end. He did an amazing job paying homage to both us and our Kingdom Hearts theme. 

Our union ceremony was us splitting a paopu fruit--which you can see me taking far too big of a bite. It was a fondant wrapped cookie and was not the most tasty thing but hey, it looked the part!

Some scenery from around the wedding!

Our paopu and keyblade as they were up on stage with us and our ‘Door to Light’, Jiminy’s Journal display, our wedding favors ‘item shop’ set up as well as all the games we had on display in the same room where we had the cake. [We lost our Chain of Memories GBA case so Re:Chain stood in it’s spot. The GBA cartridge itself is in the Re:Coded box which we only realized the night before]

Music!

For the music we wanted to make sure we had some of the more iconic songs from the game as well as have some Disney music sprinkled throughout the reception. It could have gone two ways: Very well or complete and total mess. Luckily it wasn’t the latter. That said, all the music for the reception wasn’t actually composed entirely of Disney/Kingdom Hearts music. We did have music from all different genres, but throughout the night different Disney/Kingdom Hearts songs were played.

All the music from the games came from soundtracks we purchased off of Amazon and the Disney music we bought off of iTunes.

Our ‘Kairi’s

If you saw our previous post, we talked about how we were making color choices for people based on characters they’d be representing, Of course, it’s a harder thing to do for those who wear gowns because it’s just so much more difficult to streamline a concept for than a suit. Especially when you’re not gunna be the one wearing the gown.

We had some people assume that’d we’d do something more direct like David would be Sora and then I would be Kairi..which would have been fine. I adore Kairi, I usually even have her hair color! But I liked the idea of using red, blue and gold as color accents than purple and pink. We also wanted to have our mothers have something and no offense Kingdom Hearts...we didn’t exactly have a huge pool of Kingdom Hearts ladies to pick from. Especially since mothers of the bride can’t wear white (bye Namine), we wanted to avoid moments of the game that were too dark or sad (bye literally every single part of Birth by Sleep) and we also wanted to avoid picking Disney Princesses and FF characters so we can do things that are more uniquely “Kingdom Hearts”..so that left us Kairi as far as main Kingdom Hearts ladies go. But we figured it’d be a nice way to win them over to the idea--because Kairi is the most important person to Sora and he’d do anything for her so that’d be a great spot for a mom to fill!

My mother went based off Kingdom Hearts 1 Kairi so I had her stick to purple and black with white accents. When she picked out the dress, she told me it was called Radiant Garden and that’s pretty much perfect.

David’s mother went based off Kingdom Hearts 2 Kairi but instead of a hot pink, we went with a coral color since that’s a bit more of a grown up pink. She also had some silver shoes and of course her colorful, flowery wrap was a nice touch for the theme as well and a big awesome glowing pink ring.

Our Rings

Just some pretty simple wedding bands before we’re both pretty easy when it comes to jewelry--I also have an allergic reactions to some metals so it pretty much left us with white gold and neither of us are huge diamond fans. We also got both our wedding bands engraved with “Simple and Clean” on the inside as shown on David’s ring above. Mine also has it but it’s such a petite band, it’s harder to see~

Bouquets by Blooms of Dunwoody

Like I mentioned before, my bridesmaids were based off Nobody Dusks so we kept their flowers in the whites and got a lilac wrap for that tint of purple to go along with their silver and black. 

For my bouquet, I was still picking my color accents off KH1 Sora which mean majority red and gold with blue accents--I wanted to keep the blue to a super minimum since KH1 Sora really only has that tiny bit on his gloves and hoodie. Kept the flowers to reds and golds so between this, my red bow and my makeup, the color focus would stay in one general area for when I’m standing and holding my bouquet. I did have blue nails though because I wanted to make sure to get that in there~

Shannon here! I just wanna comment on some things for a second~

One, thank you so much to all the new followers and for everyone saying such lovely things over our cake and I hope you’re all checking out the rest of the blog! 

Two, I’m seeing a lot of “i wish someone would let me do this” or “i wish I could do this but my parents would kill me” or things of that matter...and I just want to say a few things about wedding planning or even relationships in general. If you’re with the right person, you shouldn’t have to worry about someone ‘letting’ you do anything. If it’s important to you, it should be important to whatever person you end up with. You’re (hopefully) an adult when you’re getting married..you don’t ask for permission to do things. You tell someone your idea and then the two of you come to a decision of what to do. I just felt like that was important to say because this isn’t high school, you don’t raise your hand and ask someone if you can do something. You throw money at people who make cakes and say “Give me a fucking cartoon island to eat!” which by the way...cakes are expensive yo..so I would listen to what your bank account lets you do or not do. Just don’t let people crush what you want out of life, especially if it’s something like a wedding. Fight for things you want when they’re very important to you. If we had listened to people around us, this wedding wouldn’t have been as amazing and memorable as it turned out!

Our centerpieces by Blooms of Dunwoody! Part 2 of 2

Here are: Olympus Coliseum, PrideLand, Wonderland, Neverland and Disney Castle! They said they had the most trouble coming up with an idea for Disney Castle but we really wanted that world to be there since Disney is half of the Kingdom Hearts world but man, they nailed it! I had to snag some of these from the unedited photos so thats why some are a bit dark.

Our centerpieces by Blooms of Dunwoody! Part 1 of 2. 

This was another huge undertaking that we were so lucky to get such amazing florists who were huge Disney fans and were so up to this challenge. What we wanted to do was each table would be a ‘world’ and to have a unique centerpiece that would immediately make someone go “holy shit, that’s this Disney movie.” We wanted to get the worlds that are pretty iconic in Kingdom Hearts hearts..either by the importance to the storyline or how many times it’s shown up in the series...or by our extreme bias of how much we love said Disney movie. Hey, it’s our wedding. We’re allowed to play favorites when we want :P

We ended up with: Agrabah, Wonderland, Beast’s Castle, Olympic Coliseum, Pridelands, Land of the Dragons, Disney Castle, Halloween Town, Neverland and Atlantica. The florist had us collect reference from the Disney movies--of iconic scenes or scenery and they gave us what their ideas. It was an amazing experience and I can’t thank these ladies enough for all these beautiful pieces. Especially since before we found them, we went to another florist in Atlanta who I will politely not name but they stared at us like we were insane and asked them to bring us the head of their first love. But hey, they’re loss and our gain because I couldn’t be happier with all of these! All of our guests loved them and were so impressed.
