My only complaint is that the story was painstakingly long, and the truth took a long time to unfold. It was such a slow burn that the ending felt unsure of its own premise.

However, the story was beautiful and too realistic, and reading it from a first-person perspective is disquieting.

Haunting, beautiful, but most of all, heartbreaking. I would definitely read it over and over again.

I would give this book one star if Paulo Coelho didn't write it. However, since he wrote it, and his other books manifest magnificence, there is a benefit of another star, one forgiving him for this blunder.

This book is as pretentious as its main character. It did not give any significance to anything but a mere blab of boredom. I finished it because I wanted to be proven wrong. However, my boredom did not lie to me. It was painstakingly wearisome.

This is decidedly a far cry from the masterpiece that is The Alchemist. Not even close, not at all.

I have resonated with many quotes from many books in the past, but this one echoed in my soul and left a reverberated silence that I never knew would make me feel, ironically, alive again.

Of Mice and Men is such a slow burn. It starts slow and repetitive, and I almost put down the book because I needed to figure out how to continue with the story as it felt boring initially.

However, when it got to the more critical parts, I finally understood why it was a cult classic and why there were many movie adaptations. It was beautifully painful, a real story of friendship, loyalty, and love. It may not be the kind of love in a sense that is more familiar to everyone, but the kind of love that will tug you to the bones, an unfamiliar love that would only be done out of pity.

I knew what I was getting myself into. I knew it would be a painful read, but I still managed to finish everything, even when Elio and Oliver broke my heart into a million shattered pieces.

The movie was a masterpiece. However, the book was even more brilliant—making me believe, once more, that the book will always be better than its movie adaptation.

What really tore my heart was the part where Elio was unsure of where the relationship was headed, even with all the passionate outbursts in between. It was constantly aching between what is and what could be, yet being okay with almost.

This is my new favorite, which I will always return to the way Elio was constantly aching to return to Oliver.
