Snow Day
@thisisartbylexie gave me a prompt back on Wednesday when I was home due to some snow. Would have been nice if I’d finished this and posted on my own snow day, but oh well lol. Enjoy this tooth rotting fluff! 😉 ❄️ (You can also read it on AO3)
Sherlock’s arm flopped over to the other side of the bed. Nearly two years into marriage and it had become a bit of a reflex, reaching for her upon first waking. It felt like a way of grounding himself upon entering the conscious world.
But on this wintery morning, he found the other side of the bed to be cold.
Sherlock opened his eyes, rolling fully over to see the covers on Molly’s side of the bed folded down where she had climbed out. Ah yes, a nine AM shift, he recalled. It was actually snowing out a bit, he noted while glancing at the window. But naturally it wasn’t nearly enough for her to get out of work.
He turned the other way, reaching for his mobile and finding a few text messages unread.
GOSH IT’S COLD!! -MH
HOPE I CAN GET OUT OF WORK A BIT EARLY THIS EVENING. -MH
FINALLY HERE, NICE TO BE OUT OF THE COLD AT LEAST…TOO BAD I HAVE TO GO DOWNSTAIRS TO A MORGUE NOW. XD -MH
I BET YOU’RE STILL WARM AND SNUGGLY IN BED. :( -MH
The corner of Sherlock’s lips lifted as he threw back the covers. All of a sudden, being warm and snuggly in bed was the last thing on his mind.

Hey.
Let me tell you something.
You are loved.
Maybe, you are loved by the person you kiss and watch movies with.
But
Some people
Don't have that luck in our lives right now.
If you do, believe me, that awesome.
But if you don't...
love
is everywhere
Believe or not, it finds you when you least expect it
And it can come to you in many different ways,
In many different places
Even when you think you might have to give up because you can't find anyone
And the last thing you wanna do is get out of bed in the morning.
Love will find you
Maybe through a friend sending you a funny text
Or that dog who came to you in the Park to smell your butt.
Maybe just by looking at the moon for a little bit.
You’ll feel it.
It will find you, it always does.
it's always important to remember...
You. Are. Loved.
Give A Vow
“And do you, Molly Hooper, take this man Timothy to be your lawfully wedded husband until death do you part?”
She was really quite lovely in her wedding gown. Everything was perfect and calm and all around boring. Sherlock had come along in case there was another murder or Tom ended up being an asshat or something else interesting. Since his arrival he’d picked at his nails, composed three songs mentally, counted backwards from one hundred and refused to look in the direction of the bride. Now, he was texting clients on his phone and ignoring every word the couple said. So when the crowd took a collective gasp, he was entirely out of the loop.
The next thing he knew, Tom stormed down the aisle with red cheeks and swinging arms. Molly followed closely behind him, crying and blubbering, and he was entirely confused as to why. The couple had been on the edge of marital bliss. They shouldn’t be angrily storming away from each other for another four months at most. By his time line it was supposed to be another six months after their official wedding date that Molly left a placid and unfulfilling relationship. Not that he wasn’t mildly pleased with the situation.
It’s just, Tom had ruined the trajectory of Sherlock’s overall plan. His cursed inattention had cost him the advantage of knowing why, although a large percentage of the guests were staring at him expectantly.
“What? You can’t possibly expect me to fix their lovers tiff?”
John smacked his arm. “Lovers’ tiff? Sherlock! You have to fix this.”
“Me? Fix what? She’s the one that wanted to get married!” The stares were stifling. What did they expect him to do? Chastise the couple until they decided to make up?
“You git, weren’t you paying attention at all?” It was Mary’s turn to hiss at him. He cocked an eyebrow, narrowed his eyes at her. “No then. She said your name. In her vows, she said your name. Not Tom’s.”
“What? Why would she say my name?”
“I don’t know, Sherlock. Why do you think?” He really didn’t like the way John and Mary gloated when he was clueless. He didn’t gloat nearly as often as he could. One would think they’d be as considerate.
“What am I supposed to do about it?”
“Well, clearly, you’ve got to talk to Molly. Go on then.” Mary shoved him towards the petal covered carpet, John motioning emphatically towards the door.
The staring didn’t stop as he marched through the giant doors of Molly’s marriage chapel. He could hear the Tom scream across the parking lot, his vision bleeding red as he approached Molly’s yellow buggy. Sherlock couldn’t help but note that Tom didn’t well a suit well, all flapping sides and wrinkling sleeves waving around the air. Molly said something about taking a break to calm down. The loud bang as Tom’s fist crashed against her hood was enough to light a fire under Sherlock’s steps.
He hadn’t gotten to know Tom in the months since Molly’s engagement. While he hadn’t considered that Tom could be violent, he’d never seen him angry. The increasing tint to the groom’s cheeks and the aggressive way he loomed over Molly snapped in Sherlock’s mind. Before he’d properly planned the move out his fist connected against Tom’s jaw, a distinct pop signaling dislocation. He hadn’t realized that the would-be husband had grabbed Molly’s arm until she was half to the ground.
“Touch her in anger and I will find creative uses for your organs, Timothy.” He did not bother to watch Tom scurry away. Instead, he kneeled to Molly’s position on the ground. She was too busy wrestling her wedding dress to realize he’d offered her a helping hand.
“Stupid wedding with a… a stupid ballgown and a stupid train. I didn’t even want a long train but he just thought it looked so magical. Stupid bloody man. Did he have to wear the magical train?” She sniffled and huffed, alternately wiping at the tears in her eyes and moving giant mounts of poofing fabric out of her way (again.)
Sherlock cleared his throat, offering his hand once more.
“Go away. You’ve already ruined enough with your stupid asshat face and big floofy hair.”
“Floofy hair? I didn’t do anything.” She ignored his chivalry. Somewhat awkward now, he tucked his hands back into his pockets. They exchanged scowls.
“You know what you did. Avoiding me all day, refusing to look at me. You behaved like a cad.”
“I behaved like I always do!”
“Which is like a cad.” She finally managed to straighten herself out, glaring as Sherlock kept his eyes level with hers.
“How did I do anything? You’re the one that said my name. I didn’t make you say it.”
“Of course not. You think I don’t realize what you’ve been doing this last month?”
His face paled. He hadn’t thought she’d noticed. She’d shown no signs.
She continued her berating, poking him in the chest to punctuate each point. “Bursting into my room stark naked! ‘Oh, I didn’t know you was in here, Molly!’ You and you’re lot of lame excuses.” Poke. “Oh, I need you for a case, Molly, it’s urgent!’ The urgent case of the little girls missing rat? Remember that one?” Poke. “You and your stupid purple shirt all unbuttoned, sans scarf, hair all wild and whatnot. Did you make sure you’d looked like you’d just got sexed or is that just how you always look?” Poke. “You cursed man, showing up today and hardly looking at me after you pestered me for weeks! Weeks!”
She was truly flustered. The curls in her hair fell free, her brown eyes burning with anger. His chest was sore where she’d jabbed her finger at him. He was close enough to see the shimmer from her makeup and smell the soft vanilla scent of her perfume. Her cheeks were red and her eyes scrunched and she looked absolutely like she was about to cry.
So of course he did the only thing he could do. He kissed her. She was close enough, it was only a tilting of his head, the quick movement of his hands to secure her angle. It really should have been chaste. Her ex-fiancé was still leaned against the building, making horrible choking noises as Molly’s arm’s wrapped around his shoulders.
So, it wasn’t the long game he’d planned for, but the outcome was certainly better.
Apparently I had this dialogue in my drafts, so I smoothed into a proper tiny drabble:
xxx
Our Normal
xxx
They stare awkwardly into each other's eyes, her shocked by his sudden display, him uneasy by her sudden silence.
Finally it's her who breaks the impasse. "I've realised recently I had never wanted normal." She says slowly.
He blinks. "You... You don't?"
She smiles softly at him.
"No." She shakes her head.
"But..." he still sounds so unsure. And… and ...sad?
She hastens to reassure him. "I just want you." Her proclamation is heartfelt.
"Oh." He exhales. Pauses. Looks to the side then back into her eyes. "Maybe..." he stops and tries again. "I have realised recently... Maybe I want normal."
It's her turn to blink at him in surprise.
He smiles softly at her. "...with you."
"Oh." She squeaks. "Oh!" Her eyes widen. "I-I…" It's her turn smile at him. "Can we have our normal?"
His laugh is relieved. "Our normal sounds wonderful." He answers as he leans in to kiss her.
"It does." She barely manages before his lips meet hers in a kiss.
The ring he presented her early slides smoothly over her ring finger as they continue kissing, their hearts beating in harmony.

Rereading I realised that I never used names but in my mind it could have been only one couple.
Also tumblr is the stupidest thing ever and kept eating my edits over and over.
my feelingssss!!!
Can I still make a prompt?? I love your fics, but I am not a creative person so it took me a while, sorry. Can you please make one where Sherlock talks to kid who has a crush on Molly and he gets jealous? Thank you 💙
Yes, yes I can. :) Thanks, my dear! And I hope you enjoy this little single-parent au! 💙
He was just finishing the drying when the doorbell rang. Before he could move make a move, the door above was thrown open and a pair of little feet thundered downstairs.
“I’ll get it!” Scott bellowed.
Shaking his head at his son’s antics, Sherlock put the last plate away and tossed the drying cloth into the bathroom hamper. He could hear Scott chattering on and on back up the stairs. Commanding the butterflies in his stomach to be still, Sherlock quickly checked his appearance in the mirror, twisting the curls that hung over his forehead and winking at himself.
Perfect.
“Good evening, Molly,” he greeted their guest magnanimously as he joined them in the sitting room, congratulating himself for keeping his voice even.
“Hello,” Molly replied and gave him a brief, sweet smile before returning her full attention to his son. His son who refused to let go of her hand and was giving her a tour of their flat.
Pursing his lips, Sherlock watched impatiently.
It was ridiculous to be jealous of a seven-year-old child. Especially considering said child was his own son. But the boy had inherited both his father’s looks and his late mother’s charm. It was no wonder most were entranced by Scott, Molly included; whereas once Sherlock opened his mouth, all illusion of charm was lost.
“All right, Scott,” Sherlock interrupted just as his son was about to point out the bullet holes in the wall. “Run upstairs and get your bag. We’re going to be late.”
Scott pouted, a perfect mimicry of Sherlock, and leaned against Molly’s leg, refusing to let go. “Do I hafta?”
“I thought you wanted to sleep over at Rosie’s?” Molly knelt down at his level.
Toeing the floor, Scott looked up at her through his lashes. A ploy Sherlock could see through in a heartbeat. “Yeah. But I’d rather go with you.“
Molly was folding, looking up at Sherlock, her brown eyes nearly breaking his resolve. But he shook his head. “You will have fun with Uncle John and Rosie. Now, upstairs, young man.”
Tears filled Scott’s eyes, a full-blown tantrum brewing behind that sweet face. A sharp reprimand was on Sherlock’s tongue, but Molly quickly stepped in. Grasping Scott’s hands, she looked at him with a twinkle in her eye. “How about we plan a day out next week? Just you and me, yeah? We’ll get lunch and maybe visit the museum or park. How does that sound?”
Immediately the storm clouds cleared and Scott bounced up and down excitedly. “Yeah!”
“I’ll talk it over with your dad while you go get your overnight bag. Off you pop.” She laughed as she was nearly bowled over by an exuberant Scott who raced upstairs.
Sherlock breathed out in relief.
Finally. Alone.
He wasted no time in crossing the room and pulling her to her feet, his hand cradling the back of her head as he dipped down to greet her properly with a kiss.
“My goodness,” she breathed when he finally pulled away. “What brought that on?”
Sherlock just smiled and said, “I missed you.”
If he were a romantic, he would say that she melted against him, her eyes soft and a light blush on her cheeks.
“Do you mind my taking Scott for a day out?” She worried her bottom lip.
“You could take him to Timbukto, for all I care. As long as I get you for this weekend.” He didn’t care that he sounded like a pouting child at Christmas whose older brother was stealing his toy.
“Incorrigible,” Molly teased and lifted herself onto her toes to kiss him silly once more, only ending their embrace when a disgusted Yuck! came from the door.
Scott was watching them with a scowl on his face, arms crossed, bag at his side.
“Let me freshen up and then we can head over to the Watson’s,” Molly smiled at her boys and left, leaving father and son to glare and size each other up.
As the one with the remnants of cherry chapstick on his lips, Sherlock declared himself the winner of this round.
That is until Molly came back and held her hand out…to Scott. The two of them made their way downstairs. Grumbling, Sherlock picked up Scott’s bag and followed.
And if he stuck his tongue out when Scott looked back over his shoulder at him, grinning triumphantly, well…no one else saw.
Omg the cute!!

68. “This isn’t what it looks like”
Ok so idk if Im remembering correctly, but I swear I read something like this in a fic a long time ago. Absolutely not attempting to copy anyone if this has been done before, but I just wanted to take a swing at it as well since it’s what came to my mind. This is one of those Sherlock is bored hiding out at Molly’s after TRF themes. Enjoy!
Sherlock jumped ever so slightly, turning to see Molly standing in the doorway of her room and staring at him. He gulped, glancing at the pair of her knickers he held in each of his hands and gingerly placing them back in the drawer before daring to speak.
“This isn’t what it looks like.”
She nodded slowly, setting her bag down with a little laugh. “Well that’s good to hear. Because it looks like you’re going through my underwear.”
Sherlock sighed. “Look, I’m awfully bored! My flight isn’t till tomorrow, I’ve already been here three days, and I’ve very little to keep my mind occupied. I already alphabetized your bookshelf, DVDs, and CDs.”
“So now you’re what? Color coding my knickers?”
“Pff, I’m not an idiot!” He straightened up as she approached, unable to help being just a little pleased with himself. “I don’t believe that would be the most useful method of organization for this article of your clothing. No, I chose to separate them by material and…coverage.”
Molly’s lips twisted slightly in an amused smile.
“Obviously the day’s activities and the timing of your cycle tends to dictate which you wear, based on desire for comfort, lack of visibility under clothing, or perhaps just feeling a bit more playful. I could give examples with certain pairs, but I assume you trust that my deductive abilities-“
“Yeah, no need for examples, thanks,” she confirmed with a little blush.
His expression turned a bit contrite as he paused though, imaging what John would say about this. A bit not good, Sherlock… Perhaps it was, and he’d really overstepped. Especially considering all Molly had just done for him.
“Sorry,” he added quietly, locking his hands behind his back. “If you’d rather I limit my cataloguing to other areas…”
Molly leaned over slightly, peering into her drawer, and then looking back up at him. Her lips lifted in a small but warm smile.
“No, it’s ok. You keep busy organizing, if you’d like. Besides, I kinda like having them like this.”
Sherlock smiled in return as she turned to leave the room again, and then he went back to the task at hand, happy to have the project. And all the while he could think only one thing.
He was going to miss Molly Hooper far more than he cared to admit.
Thanks for making me smile first thing this morning @writingwife-83 !

31.“Can I kiss you?” and 26.“You’re the one thing keeping me sane right now.”
26. “You’re the one thing keeping me sane right now.”
31. “Can I kiss you?”
These ones gave me feels. I firmly believe that Molly Hooper will continue being Sherlock’s rock of strength and comfort, with no end in sight. No doubt there’s plenty of times ahead he’ll need it. As we all do. ❤️
“Hey,” Molly called out to Sherlock as she stepped over the threshold of 221B. “I got some take away. Not much, just a little something. I thought you could use a bit before you go back to the hospital. She was comfortable when I stopped in after I finished my shift. Your dad said they’re still settling all the arrangements for her to go home, y’know, with all the necessary care. He said she was looking forward to see-“
She stopped, feeling herself being gently turned round from where she stood at the kitchen table. Sherlock peered down at her intensely as he cupped her face.
“Can I kiss you?”
It was much more a desperate plea than a question.
He hadn’t kissed her in weeks- no, it was months now. Their relationship had blossomed rather quickly after the events surrounding his sister. But the foundation wasn’t truly there yet and it didn’t take long for Molly to pump the breaks. Not only was Sherlock still battling his own personal demons, but they’d barely begun to open the door to emotional intimacy. For those reasons, she couldn’t continue charging full speed ahead physically. They needed more than that.
But looking up at him in this moment, into the eyes of this man who was in the painful and slow process of saying goodbye to his mother, she had no doubt of what he needed. And she knew it was more than ok.
Molly gave him a single nod, and he leaned down instantly.
She slid her arms around his neck, holding herself tightly against him as his mouth met hers. The sound he made was one of pleasure and relief, and it was a sentiment she could certainly echo. Molly hadn’t realized how hungry she’d been till finally having this taste once again.
They clung to each other for a long time, the little flat silent except for the sound of those slow and desperate kisses. Sherlock eventually pulled away, resting his forehead on hers as he drew ragged breaths.
“I needed that, needed you…at least for a moment,” be murmured. “You’re the one thing keeping me sane right now.”
“It’s gonna be ok, I promise,” Molly assured him with a smile, gently stroking the back of his neck as she made the snap decision to stop holding back, stop resisting, to just stop doubting. Did she really need one shred more proof that this was right in all possible ways?
“Sherlock?”
“Yes?”
She gulped another breath.
“Do you want to kiss me again?”

Prompt of the Day - 8/21/19
To cover her butt during New Year’s Eurus lies and tells mummy that Sherlock has a wife, and Mycroft borrows her ‘Sherlock’s wife’ excuse whenever he wants to avoid sticky topics during holidays. The lie gets bigger the more Sherlock avoids family meetings. Until December when Sherlock finds out he’s married to a forensic (E), sex addicted(E), petite (E), intelligent (M), very forgiving (M) paragon of virtue (M). Now he needs to find a stranger that fits the description before Christmas. - @escaily
This is absolutely a Wacky Romantic Comedy AU where Eurus is peculiar but not homicidal and Sherlock hasn’t (yet) met John.
“Look, Molly, I know we’ve just met…”
“Sherlock, we met six months ago,” Molly interrupted him, her mouth set in a flat line even he recognized as Not Good. “Nice to know I’m so memorable.”
He raked agitated fingers through his hair. “No, that’s not - to me, that is ‘just met’,” he tried to explain, his words coming in a rush. “I’ve known Gavin for close to ten years and I just started calling him my friend,” he added, hoping that would help.
Judging by the twitching of her lips and the brief appearance of a dimple, it did. “If you mean Greg Lestrade, then okay, by your standards we’ve just met. By my standards, a man starting off a sentence like that is about to ask me out, but since I have known you for six months - and you blew me off the one time I tried to ask you out for coffee - I know that’s not actually the case. So.” She took a breath. “What do you need me to do? Sneak you out unauthorized body parts? Let you use the lab unsupervised? Just get it over with and I’ll tell you yes or no.”
“You’d tell me yes no matter what,” he contradicted her, the words popping out, much to his horror, before he could stop them. “Sorry!” he yelped as she glowered at him. He held his hands up in a beseeching manner. “That was…that just sort of…happened.”
“And it’s true,” she agreed resignedly. “So just…spit it out, Sherlock. What do you need?”
“You.” That time he was absolutely certain he’d said the right thing, even if Molly’s eyes just sort of got huge and round and her lips opened as if to emphasize her startlement. Feeling a bit more on solid ground, he took a step forward, focusing entirely on her. “Molly, I think I’m going to die.” When he expression turned to alarm, he backtracked. “If I don’t show up at my parent’s house this Christmas with my forensic sex addicted, petite, intelligent, very forgiving paragon of virtue of a wife - which, I might add, my brother and sister managed to dream up, those are their descriptions not mine - it’s very possible my mother will actually murder me. And get her former MI6 friends to help her get away with it,” he added in a mutter.
Clearly Molly was going to need some time to process what he’d just said; any fool could read it in her body language and he might not be the most socially graceful man but Sherlock Holmes was certainly not a fool. Carefully he took her elbow and guided her toward the nearest stool, not releasing her until she was securely seated.
Almost a full minute passed before she spoke, and her voice was so calm he felt a very false sense of reassurance. (He’d learn to interpret that deadly calm in years to come but not until well after they were actually married.)
“Let me get this straight. Your sister and brother - nice to know you have siblings, by the way, not to mention parents since you’ve never mentioned family ever - made up a fake wife for you and told your parents about her - and, what? You just went along with it?”
He nodded eagerly. “Yup, essentially. But I’ve avoided a full year of family gatherings and, well, now Mummy’s put her foot down. She wants to meet this time-consuming wife of mine, and, well, you fill the bill. Except perhaps the sex addicted bit,” he added somewhat doubtfully. “I’ve deduced that you enjoy sex and have had quite a bit of it in your past but recently you seem to have been in a bit of a dry spe– hang on,” he interrupted himself as something she’d said finally percolated back to his frontal lobe. “You asked me out for coffee? When?”
“The day you were beating that corpse,” she replied. “I asked you if you’d like some coffee and you gave me your order and left.”
“Oh. Right. That was you asking me out.” He shook his head. “Molly, you really have to be more clear when you’re asking someone out, it probably has a lot to do with that dry spell I was just…”
“SHERLOCK HOLMES!” Molly didn’t quite shout, but she certainly raised her voice to a forceful level as she hopped to her feet and glared up at him. “My sex life is none of your business! And besides, if I am in a dry spell - which I’m not saying I am! - it’s all your fault!”
He stared at her in outrage. “My fault? How can it possibly have been my fault?”
“Because every single time someone nice chats me up you manage to spoil it with your stupid deductions!” she hissed, poking him in the chest. Hard.
He narrowed his eyes and refused to take the step back his instincts kept trying to urge him to do. Instead, he moved closer. Take that, instincts! Intellect wins every time, he told himself smugly, even as he opened his mouth and managed to shove both size 11s into it at the same time. “My deductions are NOT stupid,” he said in his most obnoxious tones. “Unlike the men you seem attracted to,” he added with a sneer. “Is it my fault they’re all idiots or petty criminals?”
Her face reddened. “So which are you, then?” she retorted. “An idiot or a petty criminal?”
That shut him up, although he felt his mouth gaping open as he struggled for a retort. Something to put her completely in her place. Which place being ‘work colleague who I am absolutely not attracted to at all and whose attempts at dating positively do NOT make me jealous’.
The triumphant little smirk on her lips was what did it, he realized later, although at the time he was in no mental condition to reason anything else. All he could think about was how much he wanted to wipe that smirk from her lips - and that the best way of doing so, his instincts and his intellect both insisted, was to do what he did.
He kissed her.
When the kiss ended - with her very effectively taking over and kissing him back in ways that made him feel rather…funny…she stepped back and slapped him. “Never kiss without asking first,” she snapped. “At least when we’re not play-acting for your family at Christmas. And I expect a really lovely wedding set, not something you buy on the cheap. Something classy, and no blood diamonds, I like…”
“Other gems such as rubies and emeralds, better, yes, I know,” Sherlock snapped back, still rubbing at his cheek. “Something that you’ll wear rather than it wearing you, got it. I’ll pick you up after your shift ends and take you to Tiffany’s although I suspect we’ll find something more to your taste at Alex Monroe Jewellery in Bermondsey. But best to start at Tiffany’s and work our way backwards, yes, all right. I’ll see you at four.”
“Ten after, I’ll need to clean up a bit, I’m not walking into a high end jewellery store smelling of the morgue,” she called after him. He gave a brief nod but continued through the swinging doors, stopping once he was in the corridor and staring back the way he’d just come, feeling as if he’d been stomped on by an elephant.
What the hell had just happened?
And why was he…smiling?
“One of life’s little mysteries,” he muttered to himself, very unconvincingly. Then he shook himself a little, got himself back into his usual aloof headspace, and strode down the corridor as if he owned the place.
Christmas was going to be much more interesting - and fun! - than he’d expected. And, he thought with a definite sense of glee, he couldn’t WAIT to see how Euri and Mykie reacted when he showed up with Molly on his arm.
I love everything about this!
Me too ❤️
